Temu is 100% a case study in "If it seems too good to be true, it's shit." E: Will also just add that the HTM set is amazing and everyone should have one.
A good balanced video. Temu is neither all good nor all bad. It is just another example of “you get what you pay for’. As long as you realize that, then Temu might be the right option for some products and a horrible option for others …all just depending on what it is that you need/want.
I like how you used the short to funnel my attention to your longer video. I have been trying that method with mixed success. As far as Temu I think it is like Horrible Freight. I do buy some things at HF. Only if I can see them and they are CHEAP. Temu has three major among many problems. I can't actually see them except online pictures with no scale. They are competing with a brick and mortar store in HF. I greatly dislike having to deal with shipping. If it works but it is a hassle getting it I don't want to mess with it. If it doesn't work and I had to wait for it to find out I don't want to mess with it. The screwdriver set is a good example of the Knock Off Economy. A company finds a manufacturer in the Eastern Block that will make their product cheaper and handle the shipping. Then the manufacturer has all the data on building the item and the original company has paid for all the ads and creating a demand. The manufacturer either sells the item directly or dumps it onto Temu or Ali Baba for minimal cost and pockets the money. Not ethical? They don't care about anything but the money.
I'm afraid Temu is bad for everyone. The consumer gets a poor low quality knockoff. But then they assume even the original branded product is bad. Harbor Freight is another odd animal! Their cheap items can be really poor quality. Their mid grade products can be hit and miss as well. This gives the consumer the perception that everything is junk. What I have gained confidence in is their highest tier lines that they call their "best". Their Hercules line is amazing, but sadly expensive and people are afraid to pay the prices for a harbor freight item. It's like their drill bits, probably the worst I've used! The exception is their cobalt bits, but they are 70 dollars. But in my opinion, they are fantastic for drilling metal, they hold up amazingly well. Harbor Freight would probably be better if they just stopped selling the junk. And when I mention this to them, they claim people want to buy the cheap junk.
I've ordered 12+ times from Temu, however I as a rule don't order big ticket items. I find their double-sided tapes, elect parts, I have ordered 3 pairs of the BJ slippers, 4 ear scopes that I use for checking electronic stuff. I have no problems. I did however wanted to see / try that choking apparatus (a throat plunger) that is supposed to help free /clear throat, do not buy, it is junk, it will NOT work. I pulled the handle off and use the mouthpiece as a funnel, lol. They have nice patio / porch drapes. There is good, fair, and bad. Compare apples to apples, don't buy a $30 drill and compare it to a DEWALT $200 drill, and say it's junk. It may not be good for the pros, but ok for the person that may use it a few times a year. Buyer Beware of all purchases everywhere.
I still havent used temu yet, it just doesn't seem like you can actually get much of value there unless its bulk smsll components (even then things like caps for old consoles can be sketch af from temu)
