    I love your reviews on the backpacks, very thorough! Thank you very much! Think I'm going to get this one instead of the 24.

    Nice pack for $165. I'll look forward to your review after your Grand Canyon trek. Hopefully no earthquakes

    I don’t understand how there’s be much of a difference on the AG system. When you snug the waist straps tight on the stratos wouldn’t that act the same as the mantas AG system? It just seems like there’s more padding which makes them more ridged standing alone.

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get what you're saying. I do feel like there is more hugging kind of support with the AG system. Sadly I guess the point is moot since they stopped making it on these packs

      SnareMan I was looking into it after I watched and saw they aren’t anymore. Bummer because I like the way all the storage is laid out. Thinking about the Manta 34

    SnareMan - I will be curious how the new back design on the Manta will perform. I actually prefer the "trampoline" style now. Great review as usual!

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I agree - I prefer the trampoline style as well. I took this out for a few mile hike last night with some stuff and water loaded in it and it seemed to be pretty comfortable so far. We'll see how it is for 17mi in the canyon.

    have you tried osprey aether 70 AG? i want to know your opinion if you have trouble with the hips getting hurt by the time you wearing it. compared to atmos i found it more comfortable

      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried any of the larger packs so I can't really comment on them.

    I recently got the manta ag 20. I've only tried it for 1 day hike. It seemed comfortable at first, but mid way through the hike, it got kinda uncomfortable. The back panel felt too stiff and flat. It didn't feel like the mesh was conforming to my back at all. Have you experienced this? Does the mesh loosen after a few uses?

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had that experience with any of the mesh back packs that I've tried. You could talk to Osprey about it. They have great customer service.

      I think the 28 would be a little small. I'd do either the Stratos 34 or Manta 36AG

    Is the torso adjustable on the Manta like on some other models like the stratos?

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I think because of the AG feature it's fixed.

    Unfortunately, Osprey removed the anti-gravity feature from 2019 backpacks. I have an Osprey Atmos 65 liter backpack with antigravity feature and was looking for a smaller backpack for local hikes. I was hoping to get the Manta 34 liter but they no longer had the antigravity feature so I bought the Osprey Stratos 38. I hope they bring the antigravity feature back for 2020. If Osprey brings back the antigravity feature I will buy the Manta 24 liter.

    • @SnareMan

      I saw that. Have you heard anything on why they removed it

    I have a question for you-
    Have you dealt with the squeaky noise from the manta?
    I just got the manta AG 28 but I’m worried about the noise.

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes!! And it was darn annoying, but then it went away. I took this pack for some hiking including my rim to river to rim of the Grand Canyon. The squeaking didn't start until about 2 days into hiking with it and then was oddly intermittent. I was concerned it was going to squeak for all 18miles of my Grand Canyon hike, but somewhat oddly that day I think it barely made any noise. I tried to see if how much I had in it vs how I carried it vs how tight it was strapped and couldn't come up with anything to make it stop. Overall I still loved it for the trip and I suppose if it keeps doing it I'll complain to Osprey and get them to replace it with something as I've heard others have done.

    • @Czazu1
      @Czazu1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome review btw... Glad to hear the honest information! I just purchased from REI in replacing an REI hiking backpack (Trail 40) but I'm worried about the noise. I'm almost debating switching our for the Stratos or Talon 22. I saw your review on the 24 as well. What did you think about those?
      Im curious of Osprey has any fix.... i may email them before i even use this so i can exchange to REI if needed. Im bummed because it seems like a great breathable pack.

    • @SnareMan
      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I read all I could find on the squeaking and there doesn't seem to be any actual fix that works. Not sure why mind was intermittent, but I was happy it went away. I 'wanted' to like the Stratos 24, but I just didn't think the pocket layout, mostly that large external pocket with no organization or stuffit mesh pouch was as useful. Plus I wanted the AG.

    • @Czazu1
      @Czazu1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Makes sense. I actually took another look at the talon & I don't like it....lol
      Pocket layout is way better on the Manta. Hopefully it doesn't do it bad. i have 90 days with REI to return so well see. I'm thinking of oiling & tape to avoid creak but well see if it does it.

      @SnareMan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard that Osprey has started including them with their bladders although none of the 3 Osprey packs I've bought in the past few months have had them. I also think they weren't even available until recently. I see they are only $6 at REI.

    • @shane7350
      @shane7350 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a new backpack that came with a bladder...and a bladder separately a few days ago. Neither came with a cover but I just bought two. It worth the extra few bucks to have a clean mouth piece
