Reading along in the Ancient-Modern Bible (only one I have in NKJV) and I love what AW Tozer has to say about idolatry. "The essence of idolatry is entertainment of thoughts about God which are unworthy of him." Later in the paragraph he says, "The idolater simply imagines things about God and acts if they were true." This really clarified my understanding of why idolatry is so, so terrible. I couldn't imagine someone I loved imagining things about me that weren't true... and believing those things. It would feel as if they didn't love me at all and they only loved the idea of me they carried in their minds.
    And now I understand. Completely.
Thank you, Pastor Skip! I would have never picked up this bible if it wasn't for you reading out of the NKJV and my serious NEED to follow along with the Expound series. Special thanks to God, of course, too... for giving me the desire to soak in as much information as I can.

Thank you Skip. I now understand why the slaughter of the three thousand had to happen.

A tumour was found in my son's thyroid some 6-7 years ago. Both father and aon were so fearful that they have refused the operation. It has since grown. Please pray for a way out of this predicament. We need Your help, Lord. 🙏

It’s intriguing to think that somewhere buried in the ground around Mt Sinai are the fragments of the original 2 tablets of the 10 commandments - engraved by God’s finger Himself!

God actually allowed Visual representation...just reading Few Chapters before Exodus 32, you see so many symbols of Jesus...the Lamp Stand, Tabernacle, Ark of the Covenant , Altars with Horns....Even the Staff of Moses was Called "Staff of God" in book of Exodus...

Negative skip. When the Bible says that God does not need to repent it is talking about sin, because he cannot sin he has no reason to repent. When it takes of hi. Repenting here, it means that he was going to slay them out he turn away from slaying them. Repent means to turn away .

Hebrews 13:17 and James 3:1 come to mind. Besides how do we know Aaron wasn't punished? Have you ever disappointed your Father and not felt horrible afterwards? Sometimes that's enough for some people.

Moses' punishment for disobeying God was not being allowed to enter Canaan. We know that Aaron was not allowed in either. The only ones who were adults leaving Egypt who went in were Caleb and Joshua.

I am hanging on by the skin of my teeth here to hear your clear and deep knowledge of the Bible. However, your image of the flagulating Christian - which presumably is a reference to Catholicism - is a few hundred years out of date. The inadequacy of images is known to all artists, but without them we would be missing Rembrandt, Michelangelo etc. I think God is pretty pleased about how they used their talents. A photograph of a spouse, stirs up loving feelings - hence the use of images in the Catholic church - it stirs up the love for God. ~The Mass is a participation of all the congregation and not dominated by any one person, for very good reasons. I rest my case. If you throw out everything that is not in the Bible hence the 'simplicity' of your approach, then the rock band probably needs to go. As I said appreciating your valuable knowledge of the Bible, but please keep the Catholic bashing and its traditions to a minimum. Many thanks,.
