Quite a nice one, Antony! I looked here now to show my wife your progress after I showed her a video I just made with my own rings, recently acquired. Your explanation is superb.
Thank you. I’ve just read your blog again, from the link on your channel. Your story is astonishing. You make the process seem so simple, which it is if you stick to it. Your are a true super hero in my book!
@@funwithcalisthenics I feel honored that you went back to the site to review my story once more - and that you rate it highly! I appreciate the callout. You and I have the same motivations with our TH-cam channels: sharing a journey that has been so meaningful to us in order, we fervently hope, to inspire others to take the all important steps that might change their own lives so powerfully as well! That's a great kinship going on here.
Thanks for you video...I'm myself need some motivation. Been doing rings for a least a yr. There are times I really don't feel like doing the exercises. The word QUIT comes to mind. But I know better.
Its easy too quit, and so hard to do. I totally get that. That’s one reason I just have short workouts.. and if I do plan on a decent length one, I try and make sure there are no distraction, and I set myself a set number of reps or sets to complete.. keep going brother.
I'm soon to be 55, and am presently in the early throes of rehabilitating from major shoulder surgery. This video is exactly the inspiration I need. I can't even manage one dip with the thickest resistance band at the moment. However, when recovery eventually allows, I need to start this journey. Thank you.
Thank you for creating these videos. I’m 55 and my goal is a muscle up. I had rotator cuff surgery last June, so it has become a goal for 2024. Your instruction is perfect. Thank you for the videos and the inspiration!!
You are very welcome. There seems to be millions of people around our age that still share the enthusiasm to do the muscle up, on the bar and rings. I love performing them both, so if my making these videos helps others, then I’m delighted. Thanks so much for your comment. I wish you well with your recovery.
Yes, i did IT same day i saw your video with biggest band, and yesterday 2 in a row on medium band, i was strugling with this excercise 1 year beacouse i was forcing me to do this without bands, i was able to do muscle ups on bar before, thank you
Travis, just watched a few of your videos. Day 1, was brilliant and great to keep it as a record. Since then your form has improved massively and you are on the right path. When I started I used so many bands at once, so the fact that you can do it with just 1 big band is good. Improving by 1% each day is a great way to look at it.
I appreciate that! That’s a great comment. And yes, upper body routines are harder for women, as we are built differently. But it is still possible, so keep going.. I wish you the very best. Let me know how you get on.
Working on this but haven’t been taking advantage of the bands. Will dedicate a few months to band training and see where I get. Encouraging and motivating- great stuff.
I achieved my first L-sit ring muscle up a few time ago. The key is the consistency and the perseverance. I didn't use loop but I only concentrate on false grip pull up strength, eccentric and transition. This was a personal choice. For Front lever and Back lever I used loop band. I train two times a week with calisthenics skills, other times I do animalflow, weights, Indian clubs, etc
Hey thats good to hear that you have such a variety of active sports, with a good use of the bands. I’m interested in animal flow, but never done it. Yet.
Congratulations on your teachings. I'm from Brazil, I used the WhatsApp translator. from Portuguese to English. May God continue to bless you with health. stay in the peace of Christ.

Very good tutorial! 5:28 I think it's especially great that you recommend visualisation, because that's a tool that's being propagated much too little on TH-cam imo.
That’s a really good point. Visualisation is a major part of my mindset. I first started working on visualisation while I was learning karate, then during my marathon running days. Now during Calisthenics. Also I use it in the business world.. maybe a another video is required.

Awesome videos👏👏 how many times/ week you suggest training BMU's /week? I can do only 1 rep and maybe 6-8 with 1-3 min rest. My goal is to do 10 a row one day. Btw, it toik 2 years for me to do even 1😂
It’s great that you can do 1. You’ve learnt the technique! You just need to adapt it slightly to get your second, third, and fourth etc. Just train consistently!
Can you do the 1 leg planche ? There an older guy at my gym about to turn 60 he can do handstand and 1 leg planche . He was wondering is it possible for him to muscle up ? For me as a 27 years old I can do the straddle front lever for 5 seconds now ,straddle back lever, human flag and muscle up but couldn’t do rings muscle up . I’m hoping the guy at my gym will muscle up soon and I’m looking forward to ring muscle up

Great! I have rings in my room, but there is no space for a muscle-up here. I can do 14 dips in a row, but I absolutely can't hold a false grip with my body weight. My forearms are weak for that. I am dreaming about the "impossible muscle-up," but for that, I would have to train iron cross. I can do only maybe 45 degrees into iron cross and hold that, but no more than that. I am 43, generally quite muscularly weaker.
