  • Stock bike with an after market exhaust replacing the twin undertail exhaust the bike had from factory (saves around 4kg) and the sound is so much nicer.

      Haha good stuff! There a really cool / fun bike. If you are in nz there isn't many on the market as we didn't get a huge number of then here. I do know of one for sale new for I think $10700? Or if you were keen this one will be on the market soon with both the stock exhaust and the one I have made + all 3 factory keys books service history new 2015 etc. Also never been dropped.

      Yes you have a lot more options there in the uk. We didn't get big numbers due to demand here. When these bikes came out we were only allowed up to 250cc on a learners or restricted licence here. In 2014? the law changed and these bikes are now learner legal so there is a demand for them. Try buy one that has not been tooo played with/trashed etc as some people really give these types of bikes a hard life. Also Chuck up a vid when u get one haha

      Hey mate. I would say if you are looking at a touring bike or taking passengers etc a twin would be easier to live with. I would recommend a Suzuki Gladius 650cc. Have done a bit of two up riding and found it to be a fun bike to ride both power and handling and easy to ride.
      The only issue is id say most males will have an issue with the seat shape... needs more padding.
      The MT03 was just a solo fun bike to me. good for that but I wouldnt recommend it for anything else.

      Its all about how you ride and what you want from a bike. A single is very fun due to the punchy feel of the motor where a twin would be smoother and maybe nicer to live with if doing a lot of motorway trips etc. I always advise to try both if you are not sure what to go with by looking at reviews.

    I'm planning on doing mostly normal roads and every so often a bit of highway riding. Is it manageable on the highway? I know single cylinders aren't ideal for the highway but I wanted to know if there's like big problems at those speeds like crazy shaking or something like that.
    I have a car now that isn't meant really for highway riding and it shakes a lot at those speeds, but it's still manageable so I don't really mind. So my question is a bit similar to that, not the most comfortable but still manageable so it isn't actually dangerous on the highway.

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, I'd say the problem with your car is more likely that the wheels are unbalanced or old tires due for replacement, unless there's mechanical damage to axles etc.
      Nothing wrong with a well serviced small car at highway speeds.
      These bikes (like all single cylinder bike's) were made for lower speed zones.
      It's hard to balance a single cylinder motor and the faster you turn it, the more noticeable it gets.
      This is why they tend to have low rpm red lines.
      This bike isn't unsafe at high speeds, it's capital of more than 100kph or 62mph easily, however if that's your target speed zone, there's more suitable bike's for it.
      I'd say test ride something like an MT07 or SV650 as I think you'll prefer the feel and power delivery at those speeds.

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We just use a thick wire, bend it into a v and weld it on with a suitable gap for the springs.
      It's very easy and saves you a lot of money.
      I do this on 90% of my bikes as I've always found aftermarket parts never seem to line up correctly.

      Hey mate, these are really good motors, same as the xt660 dirt bikes.
      They don't have any specific problems.
      40,000kms is high mileage for this style of motor (large single cylinder) but if it's well serviced and ridden with respect, it should keep going for a long time.
      High rpm is the main killer.

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had made a custom link pipe to suit.
      All the exhausts online for this bike were twin outlets and crazy money, also very expensive.
      So for less than a couple hundred dollars (nzd) I was able to buy this cheaper muffler and make the link pipe.
      Saved a lot of weight, however it does run smoother with the selincer in.
      This motor doesn't flow enough for a 51mm pipe.

    Hi mate, I've been seriously looking at getting one of these but I'm wondering what RPM it'll sit at doing 100/110. I've rode my mates Aprillia Pegaso and I love the torque and I'm really not too phased by the lumpy characteristics of the single thumper, but that had 6 gears. So I'm wondering what I'm in for doing 200km in a day with no 6th gear. Cheers!

      @cartertwowheels3358  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey mate. The gearing is not short for 100kph zones I just have mainly owned inline 4s and find them nicer to ride in 100kph zones on long trips. This does about 120kph cruising nicely but if you have a full I would always go for a 4cyl. In saying that even 1000cc twins are not my thing for long trips haha you like what you like. If I am going long dist il use a 4cyl if I'm going short and twisty then this bike for sure! Hope that helps. This bike is also for sale in NZ now to.

      Thanks a bunch for the quick reply and insight mate! Unfortunately I'm in Aus.... But if you could build a big enough ramp to jump it over here I'd take it- watched the other vid and that pipe sounds fat as fuck :D
      On the subject of 4cyl the other option I was leaning toward was the yammy FZ6S. Definitely a more sensible option but the MT seems like straight up dumb fun.

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The issue you get with the low power 4cyl bikes is where they make there power ( up in the rpm ) they are restricted so its a little like a turbo car for lag and then no boost at the top. If you go with a 4cyl it needs to be a full license bike not a learner bike / restricted bike. A twin would be better there and still have some useable mid range power. Yes this MT03 is just full on fun but you really need to think what you want a bike for before you buy one. Or do what I do and buy lots lol. One for every need. Cheers.

      I have an aprilia pegaso strada with the same engine and it's got 5 gears not 6. I image all the bikes with this engine come with 5 gears. It will do just over 100mph (160kph) but sits much better at 70 to 80mph (perhaps 90mph at a push for comfortable cruising) before it feels strained.

      The 300cc range of bikes are pretty capable, however avoid the cbr300 as it's a single cylinder and really not as good as the ninja or mt03 320cc.

      The new one from about 2018 is 321cc.
      The original one is 660cc. A much better bike. Both built for very different purposes.

      Hey mate.
      I'd say it depends on your build.
      Some people have long legs for their height, others short.
      I'd say you'll be on your toes a bit but best to go sit on one before you commit to the sale.
      Let us know how you go👌

      @@HiBaby_Gaming you would need to lower the bike then.
      If you're an experienced rider, you'll be okay.
      But if it's your first bike, then I'd say look at something with a lower seat just to get some time in the saddle.

      @@cartertwowheels3358 thanks I'm new rider so should i get a Cruiser or ninja 300 something like that

      @@HiBaby_Gaming personally I'm not a fan of cruiser bikes.
      Sport naked or sport touring bikes are much better to live with everyday.
      You're not that short, so the sport naked bike's, like the ninja 300, mt-03 320cc, CB500 etc are all good options.
      Give me a list of bikes you like and I'll give you my opinion if you like.

    Mate you probably confused between MT03 and MT07.MT07 660cc, wet weight is about 180kg. Than like MT03 has 320cc engine, wet weight is about 160kg.

      Not at all mate. Yamaha made the MT 03 a few years ago with a 660cc single and was 174kg. The MT 07 replaced this bike and has a 689cc twin. I will be doing a review on the new MT 07 soon.

      This is the older version of the Mt-03 which is the 660cc.
