My very first cat I found in my garage with one of these he was only a couple days old his mom brought him in and looked at me like fix him then ran off. I rushed him to the vets and then bottle fed him , we were best buddies for 16 years. I sure miss him.

It was obvious this was a breathing mechanism of sorts. The next morning I saw the black larvae crawling around in the cage. It was eye opening when I learned of the botfly.
Bot flies are very large insects so sometimes they will use a smaller insect to deposit their eggs and larvae into the animal's skin. Insects like mosquitoes will unknowingly carry the larvey to the animals. This can also occur in humans.
Why are they so large before someone notices them, everytime I see an extraction it’s pretty obvious it s present..,couldn’t they be removed when smaller to reduce PAIN….😢
Depends on where and how bad the damage is , most likely they will be fine or maybe lose some vision . Either way the cat will adjust . They are smart critters and highly resilient!
