    As I was cleaning my Stan's rear wheel, the freehub and cassette just slid off. Had it not been for your video, I would have not only panicked (more), but I wouldn't have known what to do with that spacer. Thanks! Keep up the great work!!

      I think it's technically impossible, unless there is they are just clamped in palce with torx or allen keys, that owuld make it fast to remove, but it would make it heavier, & wider.
      so threaded or pressfit are basically the only options, but some pressfit options are bettter exceuted than others, I odn't like bearigns directly into a frame, specially if its carbon that just does not make any sense, on a high load area like BB shell.

    What is the XD drive/freehub reference? ZH1642 from Stan's?
    Is there any other XD drive compatible for this hub?
    Many thanks

    As a Hope Pro 4 owner, I gotta wonder how good the seal is on that freehub body? On my hubs, I had to buy a special Hope tool to set the freehub body's green seal into the hub shell, and it takes some pretty good force to drive that seal home...... but, no matter how long I go between servicing, the inside of the hub shell is always spotless. That Stan's interface looks like it won't seal near as well?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I can only speak from experience. I’ve been using stans hubs for almost 10 years and have never had an issue.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is with the free hub body. I did have a front bearing that started making noise and needed to be replaced.

      in the winter, temperature will shrink the seal & water will come in, so in the winter you have to service it more often.

    Been trying to find the right video to ask you a couple of questions: 1. Can I run the SRAM 10-50 Cassette with a Shimano XT M786 Derailleur? 2. Can you recommend a 29' Carbon Wheel that is non-Boost sizing? My '15 Tallboy C is not Boost compatible. I have looked at the Valor's but they all appear to be 110/148.

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, you cannot run the Sram Eagle cassette with a Shimano rear derailleur. The whole Eagle system is engineered to work together. In fact the B screw on the Sram Eagle derailleur is a crucial adjustment, which shows how important the rear derailleur is in that system. Regarding Wheels, my hands-down favorite or Stan's Wheels. I also like the fact that you can get different adapters for different Hub spacing. That way you can use the wheels on a new bike should you get boost spacing in the future.

    • @andrewmcgaha9629
      @andrewmcgaha9629 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clint Gibbs thanks Clint. I have an email into Stan's but do you know if they made the valor in non-boost hub sizing? I think when I find wheels I'm going to go with SRAM Rear D and Cassette for the extra range. It's a 1x so not too huge of a change I reckon...

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can get there Wheels in all different Hub configurations. It's all done through their adapters.

    Hi Clint, Is it normal that my rear bike tire has expanded in size after two years of riding? I have never experienced something similar and right now my rear tire has a larger diameter/thickness than the front one. Really weird, or?

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I've never heard of a tire expanding like that.

    • @AwesomeKicks
      @AwesomeKicks 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just measured the circumference of the rear and front tire including the rim and I got a 1,5cm difference. I feel that there's a risk of explosion so I will stop riding my bike until I sort this out. Super weird and I will contact Trek to inform them about this. I might also do a video on this. Trek/Bontrager XR1 has a very dangerous issue with defect rubber...

    Hello Clint, I like watching your videos and every time I learn something new. I started biking 2 years ago and I became addicted to it! :) I have question regarding converting Shimano 1x11 to Sram. Which free hub from sram will work on my bike ? I am riding 2018 Giant Trance Advanced 2 with Shimano SLX 30t in front and 11 speed cassette! I would like to convert it to Sram. Please educate me which hub to get and if it’s possible to covert and get rid of Shimano 11 speed cassette ? Thank you !

    • @ClintGibbs
      @ClintGibbs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      SRAM makes two different types of hubs. If you're going to SRAM 11-speed then typically you can still use the same Shimano Hub you have (if it's wide enough there will typically be a spacer used for a Shimano cassette and you would remove that spacer for SRAM). But if you're going to the new SRAM Eagle 12-speed then you will have to get a SRAM XD drive hub.

    • @greenja2604
      @greenja2604 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clint Gibbs thank you so much for clarification! I will go probably with 12 speed cassette, so I will have to get hd hub and replace it with the original Shimano. But the main hub for the wheel will remain the same, I mean the wheel hub which connected to spokes and dusk brake, correct ?

      @ClintGibbs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@greenja2604 I have not done the conversion with a giant OEM hub so I can't give an exact answer. I would check with your local shop. They should be able to order the part from giant if it is convertible

    • @1900e
      @1900e 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mtbboy1993 I had issues with the threads. I put on a 1150 cassette, and the internal nut in the cassette would not turn with hand tightening. Had to use a wrench to get it started on the XD threads. Looks like I cross threaded the XD driver, which seems to be a common problem. Fortunately for me I was able to unscrew, wipe off the threads, and rescrew. And it is on and works.

I am on new bike now, still use same setup as before but converted to boost with HoprTech conversion kit, but I have to take the adapter xap off before I can acsess the lock ring. Not a big deal, but I plan on a upgrade, but not sure yet what I will go for but I want better engagement than what pro4 has to offer.

    • @lloydusdavies
      @lloydusdavies 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. So phonetically @clintglibbs said "wallah" but the correct way to say it is "vwallah" in either French or English. Lots of people misspeak this and the error is perpetuated because few people ever read it. When written it is "voila" in French and English and translated into English literally it means "here is " which is a little different from when it is written or spoken as part of an English language sentence.

    • @kilgoretrout3470
      @kilgoretrout3470 6 ปีที่แล้ว
