I’m glad you watch it all the way to the end because like that’s exactly where I put the torque specs for the bolts 120 inch pounds which is like 10 foot pounds not a lot I’m glad the video helped you
I really liked this video. The video quality was great to see all the internals of the 4T65-E. GM updated that webbed "lube tube" which I've been wanting to see before I went in and did this same job on a 2005 LeSabre I just bought with 32K miles. I'm glad to see the "brass" collar come out as others stuggle with that thing. GM also updated more and stronger magnets which I ordered and I have a new GM filter and gasket (which I may save til next time as I have the factory original in place now and is reusable). I'm going to use the Dexron VI and I also bought a new transmission pan that has a drain plug. I think I'll put a magnetic drain plug replacement in it as well as the metal material that gets attached to a regular magnet is not capable of retaining the volume of material shed and GM warns that other areas may fail if no magnet update. I think it's a TSB announcement for that. Thanks for your video. Well done and excellent quality and narration! I'm locking this in as a favorite and will like and subscribe!
I was told if you're transmission oil is changed you have to take it to a shop because they have to put it on a machine so that they mix something with your oil so your transmission want got out. Can I really do it myself?
JUST SAYING , if you disconnect the line from transmission where it goes into radiator and start engine you can get the other 5-6 quarts out of the system just pump about 2 quarts out at a time, turn off engine and add 2 quarts, keep doing this until it runs clean. other wise you have 5-6 quarts of dirty fluid still in it. Total fill is 13.4 quarts initial fill after drain is 7.4 quarts. The method you show is actually if you change fluid every 30,000. Torque spec for the 4T65E transmission Pan Bolts are 106 inch lbs. If you screw up and over fill no worry cheap hand transfer pump from harbor freight down the dipstick hole will take care of it. I always try to keep it a pint or more low until I can CHECK THE FLUID HOT then add what I need. 2005 Buick Century 275,000 miles going strong
If I were planning to pull some transmission fluid off of my 2004 century using the harbor freight pump, should the car be up to temp or can it be done cold?
That metal piece fell off of mine. That little piece with the bow it it not far from the filter hole. Your video allowed me to put it back in proply. I had it the opposite way at first with the bow facing out. Not sure what that does but whatever.
I tried to get that old gasket out that the filter slides into...nope....so I just put the new one into the old and used a small block of wood and a hammer to tap the filter in. Some of these filters have a bolt in some transmissions which I like...not this one....the old pan gasket had cracks and tears...would have been leaking soon I think?
Thank you for your video.I just bought a 2002 Buick century with 155k miles the other day. I'm not sure whether the transmission fluid has been changed before or not,but the gearbox works well.I actually found there was up shifting impact once in a while, but when I restarted the engine, everything went back on track.By the way, since I changed the dead battery, this scene has never show up.Should I change the transmission fluid or just let it be?
This is the 3.1 engine correct?? Thanks for the video. I'm at 127k miles and never changed trans oil. Just started hard shifting a little. Think fluids or low or needs change??
Hey so I have a 2000 Century Buick with 106K miles on it and 2 or 3 months the trani start slipping a little and it has been scene. Do you think I should change the fluids and filter or just leave it?
The problem with trying to use a torque wrech on a small bolt like a trany pan bolt is it is way too easy to over tighten the bolt with a torque wrench especially if the torque wrench is to big or not perfectly calibrated. Way safer to use a 1/4 inch ratchet and let your wrist be te torque wrech. This is what separates a vet mechanic from a 1 time wonder what just happened mechanic.
I believe the torque spec. for the 10 mm pan bolts is 120 Inch Lb. = 10 Ft. Lb.
Thanks you !

Thank you! Omg hours of searching for the torque on the 05 century transmission pan and nothing! Thank you thank you thank you!

sometimes your local library card can give you access to the online repair manuals.

Jesus Christ Yep it’s the 3.1 L it depends though yeah I’m gonna take a chance change in the Transmission oil over 100,000 miles
@@Gasolinegarage if your fluids are full and its hard shifting any idea where to go from there?
It could be shift solenoid in the transmission that’s making that happen or your transmission could be on the way out
