I camo almost all my guns, so I'll be sure and do a video on the next project. For this one I used the Krylon camo spray paint. Base is tan, than applied alternating dark brown, dark green, and light green stripes
Nice paint work,. I watched a guy lay a small twig of leaves over his rifle then sprayed painted it. Pulled the leaves off it left a leafy shadow on the rifle,. Then go stand in the trees. You couldn't even see it , amazing ."Coach" at tactical hive.
I did this exact thing with 3 gradually brightening layers over black; it’s surprisingly easy. If you’re unsure, practice on a nerf gun. I’m going to do it to a $2k Wilson combat in a few days
I think the 13.7"-14" has become one of my favorites. We have a lot wide open spaces out here and it makes for a good all around general purpose rifle. For me it saves a little weight and length over a 16" for when I add the can to the end... or in my case carbon locked my can on and just left it. lol Lots of good reasons to run a similar setup, a few reason to avoid it, but over all a well build gun with quality parts will perform well.
@@mk18cartel I agree. It doesn't seem like its a big difference, but it does make a noticeable difference in practice. Especially when you get a can, light, and laser on the end. Any way to cut a little weight and length off the end of the rifle is nice. I think if we're talking compromises, which all of this is in one way or another, the 12.5 is also damn good if you don't mind an SBR or Pistol.
Any way you could do a low light/night video showing how that flash hider effectiveness? Thinking of doing a similar build with a 13.9/14.5 and that LMT flash hider.
I was happy to hear you mention balance in regards to the stock weight. I think it’s something that is greatly over looked in most builds I see. I heavy is not terrible when it’s balanced but a heavy gun with all the weight in the front is awkward to maneuver.
I finally got my 13.9 criterion core barrel. In a bcm upper and lower. Dead air sandman k, guissele flat bow 2 stage, primary arms 1-8 compact, offset holosun 507k in a badger ordnance condition one 1.93. modlite okw. Spikes vfg. I absolutely love it. It truly shoots like a damn dream and is accurate AF. Great video my man
I thought up this long response to this video, but then I thought about how long it would take to type it (Yes, longer than this comment is going to take), and thought again, no one even cares.... Then I remembered that you (MK18 Cartel) did ask our opinions on your setup and what we think of it. So here is an abreviated version of my original thought: That build looks and sounds like it is exactly hat you needed it to be to fill all the roles/requirements/expectations you have for that setup and your capabilities. "Do it all" is extremely subjective because it is determined by the needs/wants/expectations of the user.. Let's face it, none of the accessories make the gun shoot better, they make things easier for the shooter, and hopefully that makes them better.
man i love the larue mbt 2stage especially with the flat bow. i have several triggers in my rifles, and other than geissele i think these are some of the best triggers out there especially for the price. its almost hard to pay for a geissele knowing how good the larue is now.
I’ve got a 13.9 that I built similarly, definitely my favorite rifle. For a while it had a vortex UH-1 and magnifier combo but just recently switched to a cheap Nikon 1-6 scope that I had on another rifle. I have the CMC trigger in the 13.9 but I think I would prefer my Larue MBT-2S that I run in my 11.5. I have a Griffin Recce 5 can on the muzzle, Magpul SL stock and MOE K2 grip, cloud defensive rein 3.0, and magpul MS1 sling. With the mid length gas system it’s super smooth shooting and my only complaint is the optic currently, the Nikon 1-6 isn’t ideal but it does work.
Nice setup. Me personally I like having some kind of BUIS. and metal ones not plastic. I thought is what if your shooting in good rain/ snow/ fog/ heavy dirt/ dust. issues. Iron sights are a must for me. You could have 10 reddots and 5 scopes on it but gosh darnit I find comfort in my heart with iron sights.
I'm right there with you. There is def a comfort level with BUIS..however my scope mounts are non QD, so that negates the purpose of buis IMHO. Inclement weather can also cause issues with buis too, and having 3 sighting systems is a little much for me but personally but can't fault anyone for having backups!

Any issues with the reflex holding zero on the hand guard? I have a 16” with a 1x8 gen 2 Strike Eagle and a Trijicon RMR on an Arisaka but it’s to the rear. About to build a 14.5 or 13.9 and I wanna move that setup to the new one.
Just got my Roscoe upper with the k9 urg 13.95 greenline tactical barrel and I got the sharps bros bcg and the silencer co sco15 lower thing is super nice i love it more than my 11.3 ba Hanson upper
I’ll agree with you on the magnification, but an EOTech G45 with an EOTech will let you reach out pretty dam far. I will still take a red dot or EXPS3 over an LPVO with an offset. Again it’s personal preference. I like your setup
Thanks, I run magnifiers with RDS on both my 10.5s and like them a lot. LPVOs on longer guns makes more sense to me IMHO. Offset rds Def adds weight and bulk, plus it can get weird when you shoot around pretty much anything. It's like the AR/AK argument of the 2010s lol..well never solve it but the tech keeps getting better.

Great build you have there! I've always liked the home-sprayed camo paint job, It gives the rife that great "battle rifle" look. 13.7" - 13.9" barreled ar15s are amazing. You can feel the difference in handling compared to a 16". My 2 favorite non-nfa ar15 lengths are 14.5" and 13.7/13.9, I would imagine 13.7 and 13.9 would be about identical in performance. I absolutely LOVE how my 13.7" ar15 feels and handles! I can easily get out past 4-500 yards no problem. I run a Primary Arms 1-8 FFP LPVO on it.

Good stuff man, I was thinkin that same way of a kind if "do all" rig. I played around with alot of different barrel lengths over the past several years and ended up settling on 13.7 pinned. It's been a hell of a setup and bein out in North Carolina, I have the same kind of ranges you do. My immediate area the longest stretch might be 350. But most are between 50 and 250 yards. I've taken 10.5s out to 400 a few times with success, so I know the 13.7 will have no issues.

not everyone needs magnification. for a defensive carbine, you really probably shouldn't be taking shots over 2-300. im currently running a 14.5 with a PA 1x micro prism as my do all carbine.

I want this rifle to be light weight, and lpvo's aint lightweight. i think people put too much weight in "long range" capabilities. in reality, most civilians dont need it nearly as much as close to medium distances. also when did people forget that things like binos and monoculars exist. the rifle mounted optic is not the only way to PID
Red dot is absolutely fine for a do-all rifle. You can be very effective out to 300 yards with a red dot. What it comes down to is the reality of your engagements in a true defensive use or SHTF scenario. Chances are you're not taking shots past 200 yards at the very most and will most likely avoid or evade the engagement.
@@mk18cartel the real question is do you need to and if so do you need a magnified optic for it? Obviously, if you're being shot at from that direction then no. I have multiple set ups with LVPO's but if I have a bunch with red dots. I always carry either a range finder or monocular. That way if I'm running a red dot I still have a means to PID at range.
@@airborneivan maybe, maybe not. For me personally i have magnifiers on all my RDS guns except the mp5k. But for a "do it all" rifle specifically, magnification is a requirement for that type of build imho
@@mk18cartel I get that but those requirements are usually based on your location. Some living in a citis or suburb may not need that magnification for PID purposes. Me living in northeast P.A. I can encounter a variety of environments from cities to suburbs/rural to dense forest all within a 25 mile radius. I do agree having a magnifier is great, even if it's not always mounted. The ability to quickly attach it is worth its weight in gold. I found the happy medium (for me) on my 12.5 "mini recce" or "do-all build" is the Primary Arms 1-8 ffp raptor. Reticle shrinks down small enough to run like a circle dot reticle on 1x and magnification for PID with ranging capabilities and BDC built in.
A "do it all" rifle thats only good for the half of the day when the sun is up...interesting. I like the LPVO + 45 degree set up for range fun and speed shooting. Super difficult to NV passive aim though with both an LPVO and 45 degree dot, theyre nearly useless when you got your goggles on When you get NVGs you're gonna change to the top dot with the lpvo or find out quick why more & more dudes are running red dot + qd magnifiers on their GP rifles. You can potentially keep your quick change 45 degree dot if you set it up right. Eotech 3-4 is a 4 dot bdc reticle to help with aiming out to 400-500yds add a 5x or 6x qd magnifier that is stowed at night and your bases are covered and your shedding a lot of weight.
I think it’s comical that these guntubers put a video together showing off their “Do it all rifle build” and it’s a poverty pony PSA 🤣 with the cheapest LPVO that can be found. Hard to see the off set red dot but I’m sure it’s cheap garbage too. Lols

I've done the leaf pattern on a few guns in the past but I prefer the lazy ghetto stripe myself lol

Agreed..big difference between a pinned 13.9"ish and 16" gun as far as maneuverability imho

I run 14,5 midlength with eotech 552, 5x magnifier, streamlight tlr-2 and larue trigger. Light weight and easy to get arohnd

I have the Larue 2-stage triggers as well. I don't see how you can beat them for the money. I also like Timney triggers but the Larue's are cheaper.

I have not, as long as your handguard has a really solid lockup you should be good to go

My custom mk18 w/ noveske barrel and aimpoint comp M5s shoots the same as my PSA 10.5" sbr w/ holosun 403r. So there's that.
