Nice to see a non-dual class build. This Druid is ridiculously good.

You need to add Spine of Thicket Green quarterstaff, which can be bought/stolen (I believe) at Dark Cupboard, as it can be upgraded to add +3 Plant / +3 Beast PL. Wicked on an Ancient.

For 5.0. Turn-based - I Actually picked mountain dwarf (got resistance to might afflictions, also through items other afflictions - so I cannot be stunned/paralyzed/dominated -> extremely good). I find that much better than nature godlike (Whom I also beat potd with)
As for the weapon, go with Spine of Thicket Green, and make it +3 PL Beasts, +3 PL Plants (a total of +4 to both) - pick proficiency in it for that sweet +20 deflection. You will also be able to hit from 2nd line for about 50+ damage (POTD ofc, scaled only upwards) when not casting spells or biding your time.
I went with the following stats and it works really well (Berath's boost included): Might 18 , Con 12, Dex 10, Per 12, Int 19, Resolve 19. With the much decreased importance of Dex in turn-based, resolve is very useful.
Having beaten the game (POE I and POE II) multiple times on POTD and with many chars I can say min-maxing is not needed and perception is actually overvalued. It's more valuable when you go soloplay as you need to increase your chances as much as possible.

The Spine of Thicket Green can be upgrade to add +3 All Beasts Power Levels, +3 All Plant Power Levels , i think it's a great weapon for this build.
And you can get as soon as you land in Nekataka , win-win.

Nice call, mate. Completely forgot about that item. There are so many to keep track off. Wiki says it grants only Plant Power Levels but that info might be outdated or wrong. Anyway thanks!

@@mastazajebfextralife1361 I just bought it, +3 to both beast/plant if you upgrade that path (the other option is +2 for plant, rejuvenation and a 3rd keyword).

Unfortunately, the Ancient gives very few benefits and the penalty is pretty steep.
A +1 to Powerlevel for Beast and Plant is not bad, but when you are already sitting at Power level 13(9 from max level, 1 for prestige, 3 from staff, with potentially 1 more from Nature Godlike and other effects), an extra +1 level does not do a whole lot, especially where summons are concerned. It would be a different story if you were multiclassing though. Similar deal with Nature Godlike. To get the benefit, you need a body inspiration first and the +1 to powerlevel is most visible for multiclass characters.
Of the 2 unique spells you get access to, only 1 is decent at the time you get it, and neither scale well as you go through the game. Summon Sporelings is very strong in the early game, allowing you to summon 2 fairly tough(for the level you can summon them) minions that can help block enemies, deal damage and enable flanking. The other spell, Wild Growth allows you to cast Robust on a Beast or Primordial at range(while most Druid buffs are otherwise basically melee range), but it only has 1 target and it is a 3rd level spell. If it had provided both Robust and either Energized or Swift(or maybe Tenacious and Nimble) it might be worth using, but as it is, it is almost useless, since summons are not strong enough to make it worth spending an entire spell to heal only them.
For the downside, you get several "free spells" that are not very good. I have already mentioned Wild Growth, but both Fire Stag and Aspect of Galawain are kind of weak for their high spell level. Also, rather than Wall of Thorns, I would much rather have Plague of Insects. It is not a big deal, but it does feel a bit "meh" compared to what some of the other subclasses get in terms of free spells.
The real downside is the actual penalties. -10 to all defenses against veil-piercing attacks means every arquebus, pistol and blunderbuss will hit you much easier(+any effect attached) and so the AI will constantly target you with firearms(you are already wearing fairly light armor and does not have a lot of deflection). And any vessel dealing +15% damage can also lead to some big problems in certain areas.
In my experience, if you want to make a pure druid with a focus on beast/plant caster, pick a Shifter. You get a lot of the spells you would want for free(Nature's Mark, Swarm of Insects, Infestation of Maggots, Form of Delemgan, Garden of Life, Rusted Armor, Entropy and Pollen Patch). You also gain the improved access to all regular beast forms, in case you run out of spells or are in a situation where you cant afford the cast time of spells, or simply need the selfhealing to stay alive. It also synergizes with the fact that, when you have cast all your DoT spells, you might as well go into melee and help soak some damage. The only downside is that you cant cast spells while shifted.
