Your comment on the choice for "behavioral traits" in this narrative, being "haphazard" had me thinking! *The Mask* (1994) rerun 😉My first introduction to "Loki mischief related', uhm, "chaos?" *But* the thing is, I didn't, at first 'catch' the - important! - explanation, that *The Mask modifies the 'transformation' to more grotesque or, jester like, depending on the 'holder' of that mask! 😊

If I'm not mistaken, The Crazies is a part of the official After Dark Horrorfest movie series, a series that represented a great stretch of horror film-making. What an age it was to live in! : P
Maybe it's Mulberry Street that was confused with this one, and was confused with "Crazy" Eights. Ah well....... Mulberry Street is a good one that's claustrophobic as well.
