    This can be possible LCD with UV led light source, and resin with UV hardener. Important point is blue resin.
    Because of it has highly interacting with UV light, and fast hardening.

    This is a new play on really old tech. We have had UV sensitive resin in rapid prototyping for years, the problem is the product that comes out of the machine cannot be exposed to sun light or any other UV source because it turns the resin to dust. Of course they don't talk about that part....

      There is a projector underneath the liquid projecting a series of cross-sectional images of the object in UV light. Where the UV light hits the liquid it solidifies..

    • @Sylvieebean
      @Sylvieebean 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      "CLIP places a pool of resin over a digital light projection system. A special window between the resin and light allows both light and oxygen to travel through (much like a contact lens, DeSimone explained).
      To create an object, CLIP projects specific bursts of light and oxygen. Light hardens the resin, and oxygen keeps it from hardening. By controlling light and oxygen exposure in tandem, intricate shapes and latices can be made in one piece instead of the many layers of material that usually make up a 3D printed object."

    • @romanmir01
      @romanmir01 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the metal part that comes out of the vat is at the bottom of the container in the beginning, UV light hits from underneath the liquid through a transparent window, basically hardening (curing) the resin. A layer of resin gets cured and the metal part is raised a bit, the next layer of resin gets cured very close to the first layer, they stick together because of tiny distance that the metal extractor is travelling. Very smart, it's similar to processor lithography, which may mean that more complex things can be printed this way (processors are printed this way, it's just the processors are printed a layer on top of another layer, then there is washing and cleaning involved between layers, then different types of materials are deposited and more curing. So it's like processor printing backwards with a single material rather than with many.

    • @peoplez129
      @peoplez129 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorta, but this is actually a segway technology. One day, we will have programmable matter that just turns itself into whatever shape and consistency we need. It'll also be super efficient, since you can reuse the same material over and over. So your new pair of shoes....will be made of the same matter from your old pair of shoes. Even all of the matter in your home will do this too. Nothing will wear out or break down.

      There is already a printer that can do what this printer is doing. The only difference is it uses a laser and not a projector and it does it layer by layer so it's a lot slower but unlike this printer you can actually buy one today. formlabs.com/

  • @watsonstudios
    @watsonstudios 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have they tried printing an object with large, solid areas? I bet there's a problem there. Sure, you can print "lattice" type objects all day long with continuous printing, but try that with a solid ball. The resin will never flow under fast enough to be successful. I'd like to see them try a solid object or at least one that has a larger exposure area. The printer may have to slow down to "layered" speeds then. I think for continuous printing, you would be limited to thin walled hollow objects. It's just simple fluid dynamics in play.

    Why video plays backwards. Eiffel is melting to liquid in the real world. In this video it seems that this creates Eiffel from liquid....

    Unfortunately, very unfortunately, people are being distracted by bias information... yes they came up with a dead zone and that is great, BUT in order to solidify resin at that speed you need a great deal of light, Lumens... and that is the reason why ALL this guys videos only focus on the little tiny resin tank!!!! the only time when you see the whole unit is at the TED talks video and if you pay attention... to the size of the bottom container of the unit you will get what every one is missing... a 35,000 Lumen projector...priced at 130,000 USD!!!! this is not a scam but in a way it is... they have raised 41 million dollars thanks to this charade... they have not informed that you need 35,000 Lumens to print this 51 cm object!!!!
