I got a v2500 with a 32 spline transfercase how much work would that be to get it to the 6l80e with it being 32 spline as well. Or what did you do to get a right hand drop

Sorry for the late reply, I dont always get notified of a comment. I used the factory column shifter and shift rod, and the original shift linkage. On some trucks the bracket that bolts to the frame will need to be moved forward or backward to maintain proper alignment with the trans. Super simple concept. If its aligned properly it will shift perfectly.
Hi mike randy here ive got a 89 iroc z 5.7 v8 700r4 trans 60k miles.i boughy a 2017 silverado 5.3 with 6 speed trans..im into diesel swaps duramax cummins but gas cars im new .maybe if u have time pick your brain.ive researched alot lately found a guy to do the harness 500 $ and tuner at 500$..i do efi live custom diesel tuning and master mechanic..im going to convert my wiring harness my self and use my efi live to tune the ecm..and if other guys out there doing the swaps ill help also ..thanx
I used factory compressor thst was on the l83 engine. Adapted a/c lines and works great. Did not have to cut frame on 2wd or 4wd truck. Have not checked on any headers but lt1 manifolds fit well from a camaro

Jessie Fernandez When I did the conversions on my 2 trucks there wasnt any aftermarket support for power steering mounts so I made my own. there are several companies out there now that offer pump mounts

@@ethanslape8889 the speed sensor is internal on a 6L80 e trans, so it doesn't need to be added. The trucks Speedometer is driven off the np208 transfercase. I couldnt ask for a better driving truck!
So I have a gen v with tranny/ecu/harness. also and want to swap into a 2008 silverado that came with a v6 originally. Any help with the engine mounts?
I am doing this swap on an 88 obs style i am having trouble with the rear drive shaft that connects to the rear of the tranny its a 2 wheel drive. Also did ict billet so change my ac unit bought the new pump and all also where can i get all the fittings i just bought the fuel pump and a bunch of other things or do you have a phone number i can call you?
Not to beat a dead horse if it's been asked a whole bunch. But, I'm looking at doing this swap or a 6.0 with the 6l80 into a K5. I've been told the trans is much bigger and doesn't fit the tunnel correctly, is this a non issue? Am also running a 208, and I believe you mentioned you stuck with that tcase, what's involved with that?
I used the factory radiator from the truck. I fabricated the sheet metal shroud. Fan is a spal. No pwm, controlled with a temp probe in the radiator. Never gets warmer than 210 degrees
Was there a lot of clearance on the frame with the truck exhaust manifolds and a/c compressor or did it all fit because you positioned the motor so high up?
I want to do the same exact swap on my 83 c10, do you have a part list of what you used? As far as mounts, fuel pump, wire harness, etc... id appreciate it? Also did you do it or a shop?
I have done 2 of the gen 5 swaps, the other is a c10. I use the factory gm harness. All done myself in my shop. I use ICT engine adapters, walbro 255L fuel pump connected to ke on power. No need to over complicate things with the GM fuel pump controller. Not much more difficult than a traditional lsx swap. The gen 5 5.3 is much more enjoyable than the ls 5.3 to drive
Mike Wiemer did you have to cut into the firewall at all to make room for the transmission?? A shop around me just did a swap with the l83 and for whatever reason they had to cut into the firewall, and they are taking forever to build the truck because I was suppose to buy it but I’m just thinking about doing it myself. Would you happen to sell a wire harness that’s all done? Also I live in Cali, is it much more emission parts that you’d have to add to make it pass? I’m no full on mechanic, but something I want to do as a side project to keep me busy.
robert quintero on the 4ed I did not cut anything. on the 2wd c10 I cut out the trans tunnel and used a 4wd trans tunnel. I did not cut anything on the firewall. I think tejas makes mounts that don't require the tunnel to be cut. I wanted the engine and trans as high as possible because I will be lowering the truck. If I had your truck I could do the harness for you but since you are in Ca, that's not going to work. Mitch at Motech does the gen 5 harness for $500. That's who tuned my ecms. probably the most knowledgeable guy on gen 5 swaps you will find. I don't have emissions here so I don't know what you would need there.

I do these myself in my shop. Im doing one right now in a 95 k1500 for a customer. His bill for parts and labor will be less than half what you quoted. Good luck
How much and where did you buy your engine? I can’t find any under $7k with like 200k miles or out of a crashed truck for $13k. My motor on my c10 just gave out and I want to do a L83 or 86 swap
David Romero I used an aftermarket cruise control from Rostra and it works flawlessly on this truck. I have the same Rostra kit on my other LT swapped c10 and it works perfect, unless the lights are on. then it won't engage. still trying to figure that out

Hey Mike I’m doing the same swap to my 83 Chevy C 10 want to keep the AC with the same PS pump you have My question is. you used the ICT adapter plates did you have to trim them to use the 1.625 position?Also going to be installing a 8L90 Didn’t really want to cut the floorboard besides I am having a hard time finding a 4 x 4 trans tunnel and cross member any ideas. I would really appreciate your expertise.
The direct injected 5.3 engine has more torque than the earlier gen 4 engines, which is much more noticable in the "seat of the pants" test. In conclusion? Way more fun to drive. Watch for my next video. Another gen 5 in a 2wd square body coming soon

How was you able to do the tcase for low and high gears
Used the original 4wd shift lever. Truck originally had an NP208 transfercase, so I just used a NP208 from a truck that had a turbo 400 trans.

It should bolt right up to the 6l80 trans. I used a np208 transfercase that was behind a th400 trans. It bolted up without any modifications.

What transmission are you using? The 8 speed auto?
You will have to order the fittings to attach to your compressor, and go to a good a/c shop and have your a/c lines made

The 6l80 will fit a 4x4 trans tunnel just fine. The NP208 will bolt up fine to the trans, but it must be from a TH400 trans

Clearance wasnt a problem. Engine is only sitting 1/4 inch higher on the billet motor mount conversion plates
What time of mpg are you getting on your truck ?
I see around 22 mpg on the highway, but i have a heavy foot. My c10 with same engine gets over 25

Im sure you can. The top bellhousing bolt hole was moved on the gen 5 for clearance for the high pressure fuel pump. Shouldn't be an issue

Using all the factory 1985 gmc a/c components hooked up to the compressor that came on the engine. Works flawlessly
