    Ive got a 87 K5 i want to swap my LY6 6l90 MP1225 combo into. I was curious how you shifted the transmission PRNDM with the factory column shifter? More specifically the linkage from the column to the transmission.

    • @doublediamondgarage3031
      @doublediamondgarage3031  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply, I dont always get notified of a comment.
      I used the factory column shifter and shift rod, and the original shift linkage. On some trucks the bracket that bolts to the frame will need to be moved forward or backward to maintain proper alignment with the trans. Super simple concept. If its aligned properly it will shift perfectly.

I've been told the trans is much bigger and doesn't fit the tunnel correctly, is this a non issue? I use ICT engine adapters, walbro 255L fuel pump connected to ke on power. No need to over complicate things with the GM fuel pump controller. Not much more difficult than a traditional lsx swap. The gen 5 5.3 is much more enjoyable than the ls 5.3 to drive

    • @robertquintero9926
      @robertquintero9926 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Wiemer did you have to cut into the firewall at all to make room for the transmission?? A shop around me just did a swap with the l83 and for whatever reason they had to cut into the firewall, and they are taking forever to build the truck because I was suppose to buy it but I’m just thinking about doing it myself. Would you happen to sell a wire harness that’s all done? Also I live in Cali, is it much more emission parts that you’d have to add to make it pass? I’m no full on mechanic, but something I want to do as a side project to keep me busy.

    • @doublediamondgarage3031
      @doublediamondgarage3031  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      robert quintero
      on the 4ed I did not cut anything. on the 2wd c10 I cut out the trans tunnel and used a 4wd trans tunnel. I did not cut anything on the firewall. I think tejas makes mounts that don't require the tunnel to be cut. I wanted the engine and trans as high as possible because I will be lowering the truck.
      If I had your truck I could do the harness for you but since you are in Ca, that's not going to work.
      Mitch at Motech does the gen 5 harness for $500. That's who tuned my ecms. probably the most knowledgeable guy on gen 5 swaps you will find.
      I don't have emissions here so I don't know what you would need there.
