I so agree about conscientiousness. As there is a great deal on longevity in my family, I have often thought the traits of longevity are modeled and taught.
How do you manage sleep if you work rotating shifts through different time zones, my friends a pilot on nonstop international routes and feels extremely sleep deprived, hasn’t told his passengers or employer this. His partner who is a an air traffic controller is in a very similar situation.
Could your friend find another workplace that has better working conditions? Better for him and his passengers. He and his partner are risking metabolic disorders and stress and a shorter life.
If he’s deprived that is bad ..It’s coming to a point one day if he don’t get enough sleep he’s going to have a serious accident .. He need to be in control of his sleeping habits and get the sleep that is need so that he can be alert when flying especially international flights .. This should not be allowed . Sleep deprivation is serious .
On the daylight savings point. Won’t heart attacks be higher naturally due to being more physically active with more daylight hours? How much is this statistic to do with sleep versus being more active in the brighter days of summer? I hope this makes sense 😊

This is not good science. While getting a good night's sleep is obviously extremely important for health, and research is finding more and more benefits for sleep, you can't just make broad sweeping claims based only on the data sets which agree with your conclusion and neglect the data that doesn't. Meta data in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea for example show people getting 8 or more hours of sleep a night or less than 4 and a half to be by far the most unhealthy group. Other researchers looking more closely at the data say the data reflects an overall average of 7.5 hours of sleep seems optimal, but closer inspection of the data shows a bell curve of healthier individuals between 6 and 8.5 and unhealthy below 4.5 and above 9.5, suggesting that each individual's ideal sleep varies depending on their own personal make up and it is better to determine ideal sleep levels by looking for early key signatures indicating sleep requirements. If you fail to mention other scientific findings, even if you disagree with their conclusions you are not a scientist, you are a salesman.
Hmm.. I’ve watched most people that lived longer (blue zone) testified about their sleeping habit. They sleep 8 hrs even with additional naps, wakes up very early. When they have enough sleep, they experience zero stress.
I have given up alcohol. My coffee 😩 Fasting has done so much for my health overall and coffee is so key for a nice clean fast. My gut is not so happy though. Slowly decreasing caffeine due to this.
According to Prof Tim Spector, coffee is actually very good to increase the diversity of your gut. As I suffer from chronic insomnia , I only allow myself one cup of espresso after 14 hours fast, followed by a healthy, probiotic based breakfast. Ps, I've tried to give it up altogether in order to sleep better, but it never worked 🙂
@@RC-dx6vu Gave up all coffee and even tea. Still intense stomach pain with fasting only relieved by eating. Started famotidine in the last week and helping some but only really when I went up to 40 mg a day. I think I have h. pylori. Ugh.
please help me Dr Charjee. I am in my 70:s and im on the brink with no sleep now. Being unable ongoing, of being able to sleep without taking sleeping tablets.im in no doubt now it will finish me off! Can you help me. The tablets are now affecting my stomach so bad now too, as I have a polyp. Will you even answer this i wonder 😴😟😦😥😡
the heart attack thing he was talking about, about the daylight savings time doesn't make any sense, the affects are just the same as jetlag or doing shift work, that study is bullshit about daylights savings time or else you'd get millions of shift workers constantly getting heart attacks every week.
Hello Dr.Chatterjee, while Mathew walker sound very soft and very very clear, your pronunciations/diction is very very hard to understand. Plz don't try too hard to sound like a hard core Britisher. It will be nice and clear if you are in your natural elements. You are here to communicate clearly; wish you slow down a bit and make your communication clear.
Oops! She's identifying olive oil as polyunsaturated? I do believe this is what she just said about olive oil - unless I inferred differently bcoz of this doctors accent - but I think she said olive oil is a PUFA??!! No, olive oil is considered to be mainly MUFA...that is, mainly a monounsaturated fatty acid. She either mispoke, or is not as knowledgeable as she portends.
I do not believe in the notion of “food desert.” if a person can find their way to a fast-food restaurant, they can find themselves at a standard grocery store. In many cases, it is about being lazy and irresponsible. Generations ago, people would go to the store and buy staples, even if they had to arrange with a neighbor to ride with them once or twice a week. To continue to make excuses for these people is a part of the problem in making them a victim. Anyone without health issues can exercise, we don't address that, because it's about personal responsibility, but we happily jump on fast food restaurants as if anyone is being forced to buy such food.
You would be surprised then. There are many communities where a fast food restaurant is a rock throw away and to feed their family fruits and vegetables may require taking multiple buses to get to an adequate store. Not all people can just call a friend, some people live vastly different from others and resources looks extremely different from some.
The concept of a food desert is not a notion, it's an accurate result of social and economic injustice. Fast food is more accessible when time and money is limited. That said, there's also a cultural element at play that encourages grab and go food in our fast paced life, contrary to the more relaxed slower paced lifestyle that accompanies the Mediterranean diet in blue zones. It's imperative to encourage more people to prepare healthier fresh unrefined whole foods, and make those foods more accessible and affordable for everyone.

Artists don’t follow the rules. They break them and create their own as the go along.
and usually they die young ...
Social convention and laws are very different. The poverty of many artists is what leads to consequences for their health.
