    A couple of years late commenting on this, but that vat and the fry would easily handle 10k lph. I found if they are constantly swimming for their lives against a massive current they eat more and grow much faster.

    What are you feeding the fry Adam? I'm using 2mm high protein pellets but put them in a pepper grinder so they only get small manageable bits

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly the same they are 2mm pellets i grind with a handheld blender. Those tubs of fry food are £15 and i have been using one a week i am not paying that. i have also been feeding them everything i can think of that they can eat mostly egg and bread but if its soft and small and i don't want to eat it it's in the tank.

    Can you swim in your koi pond, I've seen butterfly goldfish pools before but boys are much larger do you think they might bite your fingers off.

    Hi Adam , How did you get on with the condensation in the other pond with cuttlebrook koi in ? did the fan blowing air to ceiling work ? Or have I missed a video of the results, thanks Mark

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark, The fan does work pretty well although as the weather is getting colder again it is geting worse as the fan is only on during the day it can get quite bad at night but atleast it is not raining in there anymore and the fan pretty much clears it all off by 12:00.

    Hi Adam, interesting video! I see you have an automatic water top off on the fry tank. Do you have something similar set up on your main pond to compensate for evaporation and water loss due to the profidrum filter?? Thanks again!!

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brett, I do have a float valve on the small tank as its drum can use a lot of water and needs the regular top up. However my main pond and other tank have both got trickle top up only. So the water trickling in is enough to cover all the ponds consumption and still overflow i preffer the trickle method it makes sure i always get the correct water change.

    Hi Adam
    What water temp do you keep the fry tank?

  • @dollyremo1
    @dollyremo1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Finally !!! Thank you for this video. I've seen your videos multiple times now. I am new to this hobby, and I wanted to know why you grow koi? I know you made a video about how you keep the water and not koi. But my question is why koi? Do you grow them just because of size? or color? or you want to grow high quality fish etc.
    I have gotten into this hobby because one day I want a 20000 gallon pond with 10-15 varieties of koi that are grand champions and jumbo. And hopefully the koi's are from all the well known breeders in japan.

    deffo the fry food causing your problems with the stickey waste!. had the same problem with a tropical setup with approx 500 rosey barbs in a 200 gallon container being filter by a large pressure filter with sponges!. was pumping the filter daily to get flow and had problems with the pipe work clogging so had a small tricke tower with a small sieve filter on the first level which was easier from a cleaning point of view but was pump fed not bottom drain fed!. i found because of the pump being restricted and virtual coming to a stand still on the pessure filter caused debrys to build in the pipe work!. i think more flow on your bottom drain sytem would help a great deal ;)

    My drum did the exact same. Reason is to little flow. When I turned up my pump, all the mug got flushed out.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to be getting a bigger pump for this tank i think it will solve the issue as well although this did not happen with the larger koi but they did not produced as much waste as the fry.

    Those 12 month old ones have come on great ...are these Israeli ? or English Bred Israeli ..these fry have come on well ..another 6 months should show a difference...Dave

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Dave, The 12 month old ones are English bred from Japanese Parents same as the fry. Most of the large koi in main tank are from Japan. I don't touch Israeli fish.
      The fry should be a good size in November so you can tell what they are going to be like but I can't wait until they are a year old to see what actually comes of them all.

    Hi :) I am confused. You have those nice breeders and a really nice setup. Why don't you breed your own fry. Cheaper and fun I think. I am going to try it this year, probably using a swimming pool LOL

    The reason you have small and bigger fish from the same box is the bigger fish take most of the food, just saying mate after watching you feed them, you need to separate them ok.

      Not even close this year :( I think i might just manage it next year hopefully as long as i don't include the water bill. i have no idea how people make money on koi.
