Thanks so much for the detailed explanations, especially the tip for the anti-corrosive application. My lil 20yr-old Escape did exactly what your vehicle did in this video. Thankfully, I have a portable juice box I bought when I had issues with battery charge in my previous car, a 2014 Elantra that kept eating alternators. Anyhow, that charger has paid for itself over & over. Today was the first time I needed it for this vehicle. I've been so fortunate to have it at the ready for about six other stranded people since I bought it. As I'm sure you well know, it feels *so good* to be able to help someone else. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to do exactly that with your instructions about the on terminal cleaning & anti-corrosive. Had I been left to my own devices & "logic," I'd have been spraying & smearing that stuff everywhere, then wondering why it didn't help 😂 So again, thank you. 😁
@JohnnyDIY I'm having an issue with my 2006 Cobalt. It died on me while sitting at a stop light and now it won't start. It makes a kind of a grinding or clicking noise when turning the key to start. I tried jumping it to no avail.
Sounds like the starter may have gone out. Try hitting the starter and see if can get it going, then you'll know it's that for sure that needs replacing 👍
I have a 2016 Hyundai Elantra push start. Car was having similar issues today. Made a constant clicking sound when trying to start it. Took a break from trying for a moment so I can get a bus ticket, but tried one last time before I hopped on the bus and nothing electric would turn on anymore, while beforehand the electric stuff would. Get home from work and decide to hit my key fob to see if the car would unlock as I had locked it before worked and had trouble getting back into it as I couldn't turn the physical key for some reason. It responded and unlocked but the turn signal lights stayed on but very dim for a little bit. got in my car to give it another go and I saw at least two dash indicators, one was a car with a key symbol in it and the other was the door ajar symbol. Still wouldn't start though even after I closed the doors but as far as I know its still making an even faster clicking sound despite the car being turned off as I can't turn it on. I'm concerned about this new clicking noise though and I'm hoping my insurance roadside assistance kicks in tomorrow so I can have someone take a look but in the meantime I am trying to find some suggestions on how to handle this and peace of mind of whether certain sounds are something to be concerned about while I wait for help.
@@JonnyDIY Is the constant rapid clicking something to be concerned about. I've yet to go back out to see if it's still making the clicking though. Car should be off as it couldn't turn on and I did lock the doors. I might have trouble hearing the clicking through the window though if i can't reopen the door.
@@raventhorXyes, a car can do all the things you've described with a bad battery. Not something to worry about. Try and have someone jump the car, then take to get battery tested

im having basically the same issue with my car, we first replaced the battery and that wasn’t the problem. we put a heat shield on, replaced two different fuses and now also the starter. its having like intermittent starting. it’ll start, then i drive and turn it off. and it wont start again😭i have to wait like 2 hours for it to cool down before it will start again. im literally at my wits end with it😭😭 it’s my first car too so like i’m emotionally attached to it.

@@domoniquedavis2512 I would start with a new battery or try jumping again and see if can get it running. Im worried you may have blown head gasket if really overheated badly. That will cause engine not to run. Hopefully just battery though, 2017 is old for one to last 👍
Hey man I've been following you since the Chevy radiator flush I have a 02 chevy s 10 the lights on the dash tend to flick I seen a few videos this is a common problem can you do a tutorial on this minor headache thanks Awesome man
Thanks for watching. I dont have any cars that need that kind of work right now but did a lil digging for you. Looks like it could be a bad alternator regulator. Test to see if the lights flicker at all with engine off. And also have alternator tested. Either that or a bad ground connection looks like.
I have a Chevy equinox 2010 and all my lights, head lights dashboard all come on but when I turn the key it makes a single tick and won’t start? Do you think it’s the starter? I got a new battery yesterday
Hmm was it doing it before the new battery? And was the old battery tested and determined to be bad. If old battery was tested bad, I'd say to disconnect and reconnect battery making sure connections are all good and tight and clean. Now if battery wasn't tested, or maybe was still somewhat good, it could be the starter all along.
In this case the car wouldn't start because of a bad connection on the battery. Terminals clean and tight, but still wouldn't start. Took me a while to figure out. These side post batteries don't seem to make as good of a connection.
When I acquired a 98 Suburban with 5.7L I had the same thing, replaced side post battery terminals (stripped and corroded) and installed a new battery. Amazing strong starts even in cold weather
Make sure battery is good. Also disconnect and reconnect battery leads. Then make sure an aftermarket or factory alarm system isn't malfunctioning. Have had a number of those cause no starts
