Wow!! This wasn't taught to us in Engineering.. I like the lucid language you use to explain the things. Waiting for more videos on DURABILITY test on concrete. If possible kindly suggest some good journals and books stuff like that on DURABILITY of concrete. Waiting to hear from you.

Bappi - Durability is tough. There needs to be more resources out there. That is one reason I am doing this series.
The best books are PCA Design and Control, Mehta and Monteiro, and Neville. The Neville book is a little old and there won't be another one. RIP. PCA Design and Control is a very practical approach. Mehta and Monteiro is a classic and does a great job with the science.
There are a lot of good journal papers depending on the topic.

hey Prof! i wanna ask, we had sometimes chloride ions in high concetrations deep more than on the surface, there was no washout, it was in underground garages, i have read that in this case it was not due to diffusion, but maybe due to capillary effect , which i dont understand how , could u please explain it ? or maybe u can provide me with a link or a book or a research where i can read more about it?
we have encounter such cases alot , and they r not even exposed to the washing out effect!
    thanks in advance!

Cool. I like to see a video on ' form oil'. And it's effects on the concrete. I see guys putting so much form oil on that it rises to the top when you vibrate. That can't be good for the concrete?

Thanks Patrick - I don't know of any research that has been done on excessive form oil. If it floats to the surface of the concrete then at least it is not within the concrete. Let me think about that.

@@TylerLey But not all. If some come to the surface. The rest is distributed throughout the mix.

True!!! Let's just say it gets cast into the hardened concrete and leaves an oil glob. Since it is an organic then it will degrade over time. This should leave a large interconnected pour in the concrete and this is bad for durability and strength. I think we could test this. Let me keep thinking about it. Thanks for bringing this up. There are lots of different types of form oil. What one do you recommend I test?

@@TylerLey Back when I first started in concrete in 1993 we used waste oil mixed with diesel as our form oil. You didn't go home smelling good. So I'll look into what my company is using.

Those were the days! I have used diesel as well. There are lots of different products out there...
