- Just to show you how to update your android operating system the easy way using the Samsung Kies application, in this video its installed on a windows 7 pc. I will be updating from android Gingerbread

it says kies the connected divice is not supported by kies 3 :/
I just used this process to upgrade an S2 (on Rogers, in Canada) from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich. Didn't think it would go as smoothly as it did. I'd def recommend a back up first as the only thing it mucked with were a few photos/videos, but otherwise, it worked a treat. Cheers!
@007ashd samsung officially haven't released the ics as yet but when they do you will be able to do it this way
@reinis955 not yet but samsung will anounce it when they have it online, or you can check for updates now and gain and the software will let you know if there is anything newer avilable
it depends on your network carrier some carriers do others don't as yet, check with them
@shmav52 you can do it via wireless and by having a samsung account, the video is with any samsung account
@pavloschristofi it won't do if you do it through the kies application but to be on the safe side i would recommend doing a backup
@ViliPlayer re-install kies from samsung site and ensure you are using galaxy s2
if it is still stock then you could re-install kies but other than than nothing but do manual upgrades
@reinis955 not that i am aware of dude, but it depends what samsung will allow to be rolled out, you could try to put a custom rom on if you don't want to wait
@007ashd try turning mtp off and see what it does
Had the same problems connecting via usb eventually got it to connect via the wi fi network. It's a connection option in settings. In my phone it's in settings, you'll see wi fi, bluetooth Data usage and More settings. Go into More settings, right at the very end you'll see kies via wi fi. Click into it . Open Kies on pc and select the wireless connection via wi fi. Your phone will give you a code which your pc will ask for. Type in the code and give it a few seconds it would work
run the kies application as administrator as you have win 7 then try it again
sounds like a driver issue, remove the drivers then re-install

I had bought a galaxy europa and ive been using the older version for a while. its just been about 6 months i have updated mine to froyo and now i'm updating to gingerbread.
The thing about upgrading is that the phones capabilities are set to run faster.

try re-installing the software on the machine and make sure the phone is not rooted

If you go to about phone and press software update it will do it for you, no need to connect to a pc

you have to have the latest version of kies to upgrade your phone.
cause i have the 2.3.5 as well and they just said they have the jellybean update now

Why would a Samsung service void your warrenty? Rooting and installing custom firmware voids warrenty.
if its a samsung phone then samsung kies is the way to go from the samsung website

I'm still on 2.3.5 and I know there is a 2.3.6, yet when I check for updates it says there are none available. Your not missing much anyway lol, wait for ics!
it is some time ago now but i think it saved the data, although i did do a back up first

are you trying to full charge it via computer? if not, i think your battery has a problem, just saying.... it takes 3 hrs before it becomes fully charge, beyond that, there's really something wrong with your device......
power down the phone, and try the update again, what does that do?

Dose any one know how I can fix a samsung ace I dowloaded a jelly bean thing for it and it stop working and when I turn it on it comes up with just the white writting when it use to turn on properly i need help with it plz
@inamghafoor I am sure that I am using galaxy s2 GT-I9100 2.3.3.
No W8 coustomer priview x64, when I update kies to 2.0 gives me a error, but the one from cd work ok, hoever found out that there is no gingerbread thru kies for my i5500 yet so I don't need the update any more.
as you're doing it through keys no you won't lose anything

Why mine got turned off then the pc said that it can't identify the device and things and it said that for detachable turned off the pc and get the battery out etc. and turn on the device.

when I try to upgrade my samsung galaxy ace which has 2.2.1 froyo, it doesn't work. Once it downloads the firmware components, nothing happens after. Do you have any idea why?
