Katherine my favorite video of yours was the one you shared about your work on water treatment and pollution. Can you make more content on that? Love your channel!!
I'm still astonished at the penetration of paved roads throughout China which reaffirms the promises of the CPC to alleviate poverty. Thanks for showing us this adventure. Happy Year of the Tiger. ... Cheers ...
Your conversation with the locals always brings me surprise, and smile. Wei is so unassuming, love to hear Wei’ talking as well. Katherine you are very good at chatting with anybody, that is a special talent!!
Most vloggers just observe and comment, I like it that you engage the people. It makes all the difference. Thank you for another great video, looking forward to your next one.
So nice to watch your videos with your positive outlook on China. I’m so tired of those American TH-camrs who have a hate for China. I have been to China several times from my home in Canada and I must say the Chinese people in the Chinese cities are exceptional in many ways compared to our west in Canada and the United States.
I had the same positive experiences (2017 & 2020) in beautiful China as you. It seems to me that the people that talk bad about beautiful China & complain about it has never been to it. Many have not even left their own country. I cannot get enough of the amazing & beautiful country named China. 🇺🇸❤️🇨🇳
I still cannot believe how subjective the West is towards China, even though as a Sinologist I know the reason for that. In Europe (for example Germany) it is the same thing. I still, after whole three years in Germany, cannot believe the attitude I have witnessed towards China.
Hahhah, the girls are so active, so lovely, they look so happy! Love to see people having fun with you and Wei together! It is heartwarming experience.
I love your interactions with the grassroots ordinary folks, more than those showing flash extravagant lifestyle. It is a convincing disproof of so called 1.4 billion oppressed people. Just look at the funny, friendly young girl who offered food to strangers. Are they not having a happy?
I feel exactly the same way. The Western MSM constantly lies to their audiences about the true nature of China. Chinese are happy with their government unlike the people in the Western countries where people don't trust their government officials. Most of them hate politicians.
Oh wow! The kids thought Wei was from Africa! 🤣 That was so sweet of Mr. Zhao! I am so happy you and Wei had a great trip. Thank you so much for sharing!
Loved seeing those modern trains and the old countryside because they show such contrast. I hope you can show more of the modernity of China as well as explain a bit of the environmental issues of your studies and future work as they relate to evolving China.
Such lovely kids. Wow Country side videos are so refreshing to watch. What a good change of sight. This whole day all i see are news about war in Ukraine. Smh
Thank you for sharing, we need more people like you in the USA with open minded and go out see the world with their own eyes, don’t just listen to their government or one sided media.
Such a nice way to celebrate the Chinese new year. The people and the kids are amazing, so down to earth, so friendly and it looks like a very close-knit community
yeah, those old wattle and daub houses really don't last, especially in typhoon country. what a lovely video of the countryside and just how great everyone is.
The content of this video is super enjoyable. Thanks for sharing your lovely experience and definitely hope you’ll accept more invitations from your subscribers in China. :D
Thank you for sharing an update. didn't get notification from YT... not surprising of course. Wishing you guys the best. Really enjoy watching your clips, showing us such relaxing lifestyles in China... I only had been to Shanghai... definitely will travel to uncharted destinations... thanks again.
*sigh* really reminds me of my childhood in china, I came to USA when I was 6 and I can say those carefree day were the greatest time of my life, well the 90s in newyork was good too but the sense of safety is gone while China is improving in that aspect
When I was in QiongHai on CNY eve a few years ago, my first in 50 years. Walking around town, I stopped to chat with a small shop owner. He turned out to be an immigrant from NE, just about closing up shop to go to his family CNY eve family dinner. He invited us to join, but we politely declined because we were a bit embarrassed to intrude, being almost complete strangers.
What a warm welcome to your subscriber's home and what conviviality! The village girls were so friendly especially the lively one who offered you the stinky tofu haha....With the mask on, you really do somewhat resemble Blondie in China! Hope you gals do do a collab!
That chicken - it put quite a number for your vlog; the most intense chicken vs. Katherine encounter, to my reckoning. (And I do not even want to imagine what they taste like.)
The kid in 3.55 was checking if the 100 yuan note was counterfeit. 🤣🤣. Nice vlog. Sanya, Hainan, looks Very different from 20 years ago, when vi var there. There were mostly tourist (Chinese) then.
7:44 Contrary to popular believe, southern China actually keeps more traditional Han cultures because up north was always ground zero of most warfare that changed ruling families and nomadic invasions.
@@hainanbob6144 we are probably going to be in or around hangzhou since I have a job offer there but we are just focusing on traveling for the next few months , will settle down in the summer
I hope those children are still able to speak Hainanese. In my country many younger generations don't speak much of their dialects anymore because their parents mainly converse with their children in Mandarin. This is very unlike the older generations where parents mainly converse to their children via mother tongue i.e. dialect I think mine and the older generations are much better with language as we could speak many different dialects e.g. Hokkien, Hainanese, Cantonese, Hakka, Teochew, etx. and another 2 or 3 other languages e.g. English, our national language and/or Mandarin. We mainly picked up different dialects from friends, and TV shows and Mandarin from friends/schools.

The rural parts looks even more advanced and cleaner than rural areas of western countries. And the people there are so friendly!

This is the type of environment and slower pace I would like to return to when I retire. All the bigger and upper tier cities are too cosmopolitan.

Love this video especially when you show local people and your interactions with them. Really authentic. Love it 🤣😊😊👍
You never disappoint. Another wonderful video. What a nice generous couple inviting you to their village. 🙏🌷

there are only two chinese foods my wife isn't allowed to eat in the house. Stinky tofu and durian fruit (mostly when she orders pizza).
Lol
Maybe u need to add one more.... Lo Shi Fen (aka Stinky Snail Noodle).... Its very popular now....LOL
