I’m glad to find out other people refill those. But as I got deeper into saws and equipment I just got a full size grease gun with a pointed tip. Something I do is when I clean out the bar and sharpen the chain I fill the bar track with grease to avoid the dry chain wear when first starting out.
Thank you for watching and sharing. On the bench, the full size would be just fine. In the field, I think I would prefer something like this. I simply do not have a need for that much grease on the bench. I never clean the oil off my chains so I never have thought about a dry start issue. Of course, when new, that is a different story. I would think it would be marginal however.
It is only right. I sure appreciate the OP on this trick. I ran across it some time ago and it stayed in my mind. Hopefullly it will stay in the mind of other by having some fresh exposure and we can throw less money and tools in the trash. Thank you again!
If I had a whole bunch of grease in the format and setup like you, I would certainly give it a shot. Even in bulk the grease has gone up quite a bit right? Thank you for sharing!
Right on! I remember the first time I saw a tractor trailer go onto the semitruck and a guy squirted an entire tube on the platform! My eyes probably could have been wider!
I sure appreciate you! Yes, i think the job is well worth it for sure. Plus, now I have 2 tools and the ability to fill them multiple times! I am now set.
I haven't seen the straw trick before. Very useful! I use a popsicle stick instead of my fingers to pack items like this, but using a straw to get the air out is awesome.
A large tongue compressor or popsicle stick would be excellent! I like that idea for sure. I am glad I was able to bring you something that you may likely use in the future!. Thank you DH!
Not too sure about down in your neck of the woods but you might want to hoard plastic straws - up here they have been replaced with paper straws that only last for 1/2 of your take-out drink before they're waterlogged...
hey..... NO TP .... I mean straw hoarding. We don't need another crisis! hahaha.. Thank you buddy. As of right now, they are available readily. I never thought about the possibility of them being gone. I hate the straws you speak of!
Glad I could help you out buddy. This is super handy to do for sure. Super easy and super inexpensive. Too bad the other is gone now, would have nice to have a second!
What a great tip with the straw! thanks @KimballCody and Oakie! Those prices are crazy. Don't think I've given more than $7 for one of those grease guns. But it's been a couple years since I purchased one. (Bought 3 last time) The oils staying mixed was no surprise to me, should be in the clear to use👍🏻
Thank you AP. So happy the oil has stayed together. Can you believe how easy that was? The straw is sure awesome. i have not seen a post from @KimballCody in nearly a year. Appreciate you once again friend
Straw idea is a good one thanks for sharing and crediting the Chanel where you seen that originally. Red armor some folks I know swear up and down by it, but I have been a committed amsoil saber person, hasn't given any reasons to change oils again
but do you run it at 100:1? That is the question? hahahah.. Thank you for sharing and I want to get my hands on some of that at some point. What color is it?
I have a new one but could never get it to work it stayed air locked. I tried every trick in the book. Any hints to clear the air lock. I pulled the end cap and pressed as hard as I could. I also checked the tip with a tip cleaner. I can’t even get the grease into the spring.
i've got 2 of those push and lubes, in my shop right now and am hoping to be able to refill mine. i've tried about 3 or 4 of the other smaller grease pens and the tips go bad and just end up in the trash can. lucas blue marine grease is pretty close to the oregon blue, in texture and tackyness.
Ah.... that would be an option! I have had some pens fail me but not at the tip. In the middle actually. I purchased one from Tractor supply and it blew apart in the middle. Weird design for sure. Hope this helps and you get your good Oregon ones back up and going quickly, easily and inexpensively!
oh man! That sounds SO Good! We are doing a Carnivore diet and so we are consuming the meats for sure! I would say my wife is more strict on the Carnivore part and I more or less doing a KETO type thing. Loosing weight though!
@@oakiewoodsman Thats great to hear. I've never tried the carnivore diet. I don't know if I could do without my vegetables. Me and the wife have been doing the keto diet for a while. We have gotten less Strick in the past month - need to get back on being Strick so I can lose some more weight.
So, just a quick question why by the single use ones rather than buy a steel refillable one to begin with? I got one from a local dealer for like 10$ and it’s all steel and made to be refilled. Great video as always
probably cause I didn't know about it! hahahah... Are you talking about the one that takes the little 3 or 4 oz tubes? I really like these little oregon ones. Super handy for the saw box on the go. For a workbench something heavier duty would be great but I like this little guy. Even if I had another, I likely wouldn't toss these. Thanks again!
Now it's time to take advantage of the gloves and grab the steering wheel of a friend..... without him knowing and perhaps running the fingers gloves behind the car door handle.... Sorry, it's the child in me remembering my adolescence😁
I gotta say, I would be the type to never do that and be the type to be very frustrated if done to me! hahahaha. Glad we didn't know eachother in our adolescence.... you would have had fun tormenting a guy as gullible as I. hahaha
I had a guy who put grease on the back side of my tool box handles when I worked in injection molding. That was fine by me, I got all of the back of his tool box handles with ant seize. 😂 Never had that issue again. I was nice about it and gave him a variety, silver and copper. 🤣
This does look like a good idea but if you have a grease gun wouldn't it be easier, quicker, and less of a mess to refill with it? You probably would have a grease gun if you have equipment you need to grease with the needle greaser and they make a needle greaser to put on your grease gun.
One day when I have something to grease, I will likely add a Ridgid grease gun to my tool collection. Nearly identical to the Milwaukee one. As of right now, I have not enough stuff with a zerk fitting to need it. Once a tractor comes along, that will all change. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I run the eco red armor in all my Stihl saws weed eaters and back pack blowers and I've found more power and less fuel consumption been doing it going on 5 years and no issues so don't believe the oh u gotta use the name brand mix
