    Personally I don't like UK in the next 5-10 years as an investment location, the economy is declining, inflation is bad that's why people pill into property, political uncertainty as election is coming soon, their central bank in dilemma to continue hiking interest rates or hold, their cost of living increasing so high and many people are struggling, the government will go after those property speculator to tame the market, UK forment geopolitical contest with major world economy and those with big natural resources, I don't think those countries want to invest there anymore, the recent purge of Russian elites is concerning as they prop up the market before this and not sure how other elites will react too, their currency pound also has not been performing well compared to Malaysia in the last 30 years from 12 myr per pound to now 5myr per pound and I forsee a lower 3-4 myr per pound in the near future. Those that invest in UK in the past year before the war may profited from the Londongrad and EU advantage. But now not so much anymore.

    As a Malaysian who spent a considerable amount of time in the UK, I find it rather unfair that most of the new property launches are prioritized for foreigners. Most local Brits will not even have the opportunity to purchase the local property. Even in Malaysia, we have a minimum purchase cap for foreign buyers to protect the local people. Nonetheless, I am not criticizing the foreign investors because if there is an opportunity to make money why stop. I am just criticizing their government which doesn't do the needful to protect their people.

      @iherng  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are spot on!! There is no control nor limit for foreign ownership for their land. The only control would be loan financing for their investments. But it’s not really a problem for the rich.
      Malaysian government is quite good actually hahaha. Imagine no minimum price cap… wah, market will definitely go out of control!!

    • @reyeslaiyee
      @reyeslaiyee ปีที่แล้ว

      As a property investor myself, if there’s no price cap for foreign ownership will be good for my portfolio however it will be bad and unfair for my fellow Malaysians who just want to have a dream home. Compared to the UK government, our government is so much more better in all aspects 😅😅. I’m speaking from my personal experiences staying in both countries.

    One thing I feel sad for malaysia is, oversea condo are way better in quality. Not just Manchester, even Thailand and Vietnam condominium have way better quality and lesser density than malaysia, it makes malaysia condo feels like it is just apartment with die die squeeze in some low effort facility for regulations.

    • @obel90

      Malaysian condos are low quality? Older ones might have less facilities but new ones do, and our management fees generally are also pretty affordable

    Deans gate has many students staying there too, but I wouldn’t really say it’s an ideal location. Manchester is not really as safe place to be around the deangate area.

    Sean, something to take note is UK inheritence tax. It is not something to be ignored after you have accumulated those wealth. We always hope wealth can be passed onto the next generation as a Chinese. UK imposed a painful tax on property inheritance. One has to put in more effort into estate planning.
    Thank you for sharing with us! The video is just wonderful!

    • @haldepet12
      @haldepet12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is not only inheritance tax that is heavy. Also income tax, and transaction tax (stamp duty) and capital gain tax. British people usually dont invest like this for tax reason. Instead they invest in REIT which have a lot of tax advantages.

    • @kenkintel
      @kenkintel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haldepet12 yes, indeed. I assume Sean and his friends are well aware of those common taxes that you just mentioned.

    A difference between Asian and Western properties the supply is very control cannot simply build all the time. Quality wise better of course as they have more penalties if you decide to cut corners consequences are severe. Over time more value as well. Looking at the properties we build within 5 km there is like 50 condos so selling price will a took a long time go up. I miss the days before 2015 when just keep property 6 years then can sell. Now have to wait 15 years then can sell maybe :(

    It's amazing to know that with an exchange rate of over 5.x, the flagship Deansgate is only £300k. Contrast it back here at 1.0, you can barely get anything at RM 300k.

    Ps: regarding the pedestrian aspect I really like a term urbanists use: "the democratization of public space", in short is when a street section is divided equally in terms of usage by different ways of transport. In the US most streets are designed like 90% space is for cars and 10% is for all the other modes, and that is not democratic at all 😅
