  • My Grandmother bought this 1972 Dodge Dart new. After she passed away, we never drove it. My son decided to drag it out of the woods and get it back on the road after 27 years. It's all hands-on deck after he realized it was a bigger job than he thought. #willitrun #willitstart #dodgedart #carrestoration #car #oldschool #oldcars

    Beautiful 72 Dodge Dart Custom, the fancier if the two trim levels. The 318 is sweet. Try to find a 72 grill for it. That is a 70/71 grill in there now. I learned to drive on a 72 Dart sedan so basic it had manual steering, unassisted 4 wheel drum brakes, and even a rubber foot pump for the windscreen washers. Electric pump was included when the 3 speed wipers were ordered.

    Man, this REALLY makes me wish my 1974 Dart Custom coupe. It had a 225 Slant six, but it was plenty peppy. It only had 16k miles on it, but if I would've kept it I would've swapped in a 360 LA (and I had one in my garage from my 1983 Ramcharger), but I sold it shortly after like an idiot. My uncle bought it, drove it for a few hundred miles, and sold it for $1000. I also got a 1976 Buick Skylark sedan with an Olds 260 (4.3L 110HP) V8 with 34k miles from the same people for free. I drove that more than the Dart.

      @@phillipsrundripbubblecompa9232 I used to have one of those! I've even had a few DSMs and I even had a 1992 Plymouth Colt hatchback that I swapped a 4g63t into. I've had 69 different vehicles in my name to this day and I'm not even 40 yet.

      @@phillipsrundripbubblecompa9232 Also, thanks for the compliment. It's been a labor of love, but I don't get to take it out much often, so I've been thinking about selling it to someone who will. It makes 709 whp at 34 psi, and it's best time to date is 9.56 @ 155 MPH. I work six days a week though, so it's tough to get time to mess with it.

    Small bolt-pattern, 7.25"/9-bolt rear, probably 10" drum brakes, 14" rims-but may be the 5.5" versions due to it being an AC car. Has the variable-speed wipers, HD cooling, tinted windows.
    If you convert it to disc brakes, go '73 up. Big bolt pattern, 5 on 4.5" spread- you'll have to throw in the rear end, but covert to an 8.25. Later K-member has spool mounts for the engine and better sway bar mounting.
    That looks to be very solid & worth doing. PS- get a starter for an '89 Gran Fury. Not half the size & weight, spins much faster, and 1/3 the draw.

    • @phillipsrundripbubblecompa9232
      @phillipsrundripbubblecompa9232  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the Information! Probably going to keep as original as possible but the starter is a must have....

    • @olikat8
      @olikat8 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phillipsrundripbubblecompa9232 for safety & better wheel/tire selection, the BBP & at least front swaybar (factory parts swap) is highly recommended. '73-up was the year Chrysler standardized the spindle across the board, so you get big bearings & the 11.75" discs from the last of the B &R bodies bolt on (use the caliper & adapter bracket).
      I have a sedan that runs that with the offset UCA offset bushings (rears spun 180⁰ out), poly sway bar bushings, 340/Formula S/A38 (cop car A-body) torsion bars, boxed LCA's, alignment set to cut understeer a bit, FFI steering box, perimeter welded K-member (with braced inboard box mount) with a skid plate,V8 HD leafs with poly bushings...You'd be shocked at how well that works to make it handle & brake. In traffic it has saved the car a couple times from other drivers.
      A lot more fun to drive, too

    When cars bin sitting for so long,, beside braking loose and crank, have minimum compression, I allways make sure it's got spark, replace the carburator kit, have gas pomping , from that point, IT never fail starting,
