I had some the worst hotflashes but hotflashes were not nearly my concern. My biggest challenges were the mood! The headaches! The sleep deprivation...it was so tough. Just glad I made out alive. My heart goes out for the women who suffer so much during those years.
I added the 1/2 cup of soybeans to my diet, usually breakfast with an avocado and a little salt. My hot flashes completely disappeared in 3 days. I was getting them every hour day and night. The addition of cooked soybeans really worked. Thank you so much.
@@theshapelounge so this diet only worked for me for a little while. I got super sick of eating soy beans. I bought soy beans from Amazon that I would cook in a pressure cooker. I finally switched to keto with intermittent fasting and all of my menopause symptoms have disappeared within a week. Keto is really working for me.
I´m going through menapause now. Yes, it is crazy, I feel like I am losing my mind at times. Lack of sleep, due to interruptions of hot flashes, makes one wonder, "WTH" is happening to mel Drenching one minute and cold the next.......it´s a nightmare!
It’s miserable! I get them every hour sometimes twice per hour. Intense growing. I’m going to try soybeans. Praying this stops. It’s been a year and it’s getting worse
there are an awful lot of us here following a whole food plant based diet and still getting hot flashes from hell. HRT was the only thing that worked for me. My doc said my adverse risks were minimal because I do have such a healthy diet, so I take my HRT and it motivates me to maintain healthy habits.
@@carmadefries3729which one you are using? as the one im using its called progyluton and after 2 years of using I have hemangioma hepatic on the liver. It was oral pills. Thanks
I do feel like soy is helping me with my unfortunate hot flashes (I buy frozen edamame, and I heat it up in the microwave) I also take evening primrose oil capsules which I feel like are helping a lot with the hot flashes as well ❤️ my heart goes out to all the ladies experiencing this😢💔❤️❤️💔😩💔❤️ (P.S. edamame is baby soy by the way)❤️
I took black cohosh and magnesium when I started getting regular hot flashes. I don't get them anymore! I stopped taking the black cohosh but still take magnesium regularly. Great for sleeping, too.
Same here. Adding 1/2 C or more cooked soybeans a day has stopped my hot flashes. I was plant-based oil-free, but still having hot flashes. The soybeans saved me.
@@tonibartling3844 noticeable results in a week, even more improvement in two weeks. I’m 54, been having hot flashes/night sweats for about 9 months now. I’ve been vegan, whole foods mostly, for years. When I first heard about this study, I started eating 1/2 cup edamame daily, but I see here he says it’s the mature soybeans that are recommended. I ordered some on Amazon, and I’ll see if the Asian market here has some. I’m surprised it takes so much low-fat soymilk to get the necessary amount of isoflavones.🤔 Edit update: So I started eating a half cup of mature soybeans daily on 8-6-21. By 8-14, I noticed a definite reduction in hot flashes. As I write this it’s 8-24-21, and my hot flashes have gone from about 7+ times a day to about three, the intensity is reduced, and the nighttime hot flashes/night sweats has gone from about 4 times a night (waking up to sweat and wipe dry with a cloth), to just once or twice a night. Hooray! Much better results than what I got with supplements that are supposed to help with hot flashes. I have a stovetop pressure cooker, and without soaking, the soybeans cook in 40 minutes. I do have to add about a teaspoon of oil to prevent the soybeans foaming from blocking the vent.
That's wonderful that she had such wins with the FOK diet. I, too, stopped having hot flashes after 3 days of giving up olive oil. My Vegan diet that I'd been on for 40 years was mostly raw and gluten free, but giving up the oil did it!! I'm 73 and will still have a hot flash if I cheat and eat something heavy in oil.
im sitting here balling my eyes out, just hearing that someone else is going thru this, into my second year, I literally cant take it any more, the heat leads me to throwing up anywhere anytime, life is not fun anymore.😩
I’ve been vegan for 12 years and started going through menopause 5 years ago and it all ended 4 years ago. The hot flashes are ongoing. I lost 45 pounds, cut out wheat, increased my tofu, lift weights 4 days week and do cardio 5 days a week. The only thing so far that stops a hot flash is a cold room. I get them when I get angry, lol, when I sleep and when I eat spicy food. I’ll try daily soy bean consumption. I love edamames so this will not be a stretch. If anyone wonders where to buy them-Trader Joe’s in the freezer section! Good stuff!
I'm 50 and only started feeling symptoms of menopause this last year. I get flashes when angry, stressed, happy, sad, indifferent. I could write a Dr Seuss book about it 😂. I consume a lot of soy,but I may try just the bean. I need to sleep someday 😂
i the first video here that they did on menopause about 2 or 3 weeks ago, i'm pretty sure they addressed edamame and said it probably won't work because it's an immature soybean but you said you are going to try the beans now. i'm eating the black soybeans because they're the only ones i can find canned 😊 been on them for 12 days and i THINK am possibly feeling a difference, especially in the morning and afternoon hours. i also seem to wake up sweating less through the night. i'm still getting some and when it's a bad one i get frustrated thinking this isn't working, but i do seem to have longer stretches in between and even feel chilly at times when the air condition is running! 😱 i'm going to keep at it, lose some weight and get healthier overall and hopefully the combo will alleviate them even more 🌱
I was 41 and was at my doctors office and he asked me if I was having hot flashes. well I was mad, I told him how old do you think I am THAT night I had my first hot flash, like he had planted the idea in my head called my sister in law and she told me to start drinking soy milk, which completely STOPPED my hot flashes and I drank soy milk for 2 weeks and I have never had another hot flashes ever again! My mom had hot flashes for years even she was taking medications and still having hot flashes? I had 2 hot flashes 3 days after drinking soy milk I had a 2nd hot flash and never again after that!!!! SOY MILK is the only think I did different and it STOPPED my hot flashes completely!!!!!!!!
My period stopped at 51 without symptoms. So, I prided myself that I never had the horrible symptoms that other women complained about. Then two days to my 56th birthday, my life turned upside down. Insomnia, heart palpitation and raised BP, hot flashes, brain confusion, uncontrolled urination... It was a nightmare. My daughter and her husband (both doctors) took one look at me and pronounced MENOPAUSE. But I've been through it 7 years ago, so, what the heck! We live in the same city but I started to avoid them. I went to a doctor who placed me on BP drugs but my BP fluctuated so badly that it was readjusted and changed severally. Then, a school mate in high school told me about Soy powder I quickly bought one. A few days later, hot flush, BP, uncontrolled urination, etc gone. I went ahead and started making my own soy, this time mine is fermented. The politics of menopause is for those who are stuck unto dogma. People who get frequent hot flashes are more predisposed to osteoporosis, heart disease and other metabolic consequences associated with menopause. What do do? Stop the hot flash, eat more protein, vegetables and Omega3-rich foods. Avoid refined carbs, alcohol and smoking. Exercise (wt strength-training at least 2 days a week) 5 days a week. Increase your intake of magnesium-rich foods. Supplements? Oh yes! Vitamin D3 and Omega3. I'll be 59 in a few weeks time and I'm....living it. ❤️
Wish I could have been in part of the study. I had hot flashes and night sweats for 1 1/2 years, every hour on the hour and all night. At 52 I never had menstrual problems, but my last two periods were heavy flows, period just stopped one day and the hot flashes started right away. Everyone is different. I’ve tried every type of diet (whole food, plant based and carnivore) cut out sugar, cut dairy, and I used herbal supplements. The only thing that rid me of hot flashes was HRT.
I am so grateful I came across this video. I lover and trust Dr Neal Barnard so much so I decided to give this a try. My hot flashes were horrendous and night sweats kept me up all night. I was probably getting them every half hour or so. I am already WFPB but I was still eating a lot of avocados and nuts. So I lowered my fat intake as he suggested in the study and started eating the mature soybeans, not the edamame which are not mature. I soaked the Laura's organic soy beans that I purchased on line at amazon over night. Cooked for 1 and 1/2 hours and have been eating them for the past two weeks. I'm eating a 1/2 cup a day as was done in the study. I can't believe after 10 days my hot flashes are down by more than 50% and they are not as severe. If you can't take HRT or don't want the side side effect of HRT, trust me this works!!! I'm going to continue doing this and I'm sure they will subside even more.
I have been low fat whole food vegan for 8 years. My hot flashes have been horrendous. Around 20 to 30 per day with very disrupted sleep. I’ve been giving the soybeans a go for almost 4 weeks and it has made no difference. I was so hopeful that things would change.😞
I sympathize with you. it’s frustrating hearing this stuff about how eating right will make hot flashes go away. may bring relief for a few but not for most. I was getting dozens of hot flashes an hour, all day and all night (not to mention all the other crummy symptoms). my whole food plant based diet and overall healthy lifestyle made my doctor more confident that hormone replacement would come with minimum risk for me. I feel human again. Ask your doc about this option.
I used to have horrendous hot flashes. The Soy has given me the most relief and has reduced the number and the severity, but I still get them but at least now I can sleep through the night. What also helped is taking magnesium and potassium when I go to bed, as the magnesium helps to control blood pressure as do legumes and soy is a legume. But magnesium taken at bedtime helps one to sleep as it helps the brain release melatonin. Did it last night, going to do it tonight as well. Worked better than taking L-Tryptophane which turns into melatonin. I used to have a working forehead thermometer and when these hot flashes started 10+ years ago, I put the thermometer under my hair and the temperature was 104 degrees. Fortunately the hot flashes would not last a long time, like ten minutes tops but when you are burning up ten minutes was terrible. I’d get them every hour, so it was miserable, totally. The doctors thought Prozac would help. It didn’t, instead that drug left me with lifelong Tinnitus. Nothing gets rid of that and they did know that this happens with some people but did anyone tell me? No. When I found out later after having the tinnitus, yes, I was quite angry about that. I don’t want to take any drugs unless I can’t find a way to do what I need with plants now. I have a small fan I turn on to this day at night on my bed on my head with a dimmer cord switch control so I can control the speed on a one speed fan. This has helped a lot. During the day I drink an iced tea by Bigelow which is a blend of Peach/Turmeric/Ginger and I make it with Bigelow Peach tea as it is more palatable to my taste. This is in a cup of ice and I have a thermal mug which stays cold all day. If a hot flash begins, drinking my ice cold tea also helps. I make grilled soy in my Cuissinart Griddler with Liquid Aminos which is less salty than Soy Sauce and then season with Mrs. Dash Salt-Free seasoning and grill those with mushrooms on top of an ice cold salad. I put edamame cooked Soy beans which are cold, on the salad and any other legume bean too, also helps. All the legumes and the magnesium has also brought my blood pressure down. It has lowered my total cholesterol also. I don’t eat soy for breakfast, but I do eat oatmeal with dehydrated apple chips I make myself. All soluble fiber seams also to help as my liver churns out more cholesterol and the soluble fiber absorbs this in the lower GI so that it then passes out with my BMs instead of being re-up-taken. I am vegan and not getting cholesterol from any animal product. The lower my cholesterol seems to coincide with my experience of hot flashes. I’ve also lost about 10 pounds lately and that helps too.
Thank you so much for this video it really saved me from these hot flashes. I take 1/2 a cup everyday at the beginning I noticed a 80 percent decrease and after two weeks eating the Edamame beans I haven’t had no more hot flushes. Thank you God!
It’s a HOT 🥵 and cold battle! I’m 49 and have been dealing with hot flashes and sleepless nights with the night sweats. I can’t deal with decades of this!!! I’m definitely going to Trader Joe’s today and get some soya beans!!
I have insomnia on top of night sweats. Feeling hot and cold all day and suffering from waking up 3-5 times at night. I've tried red clover, soy bean milk, soy isoflavenoid wild yam cream... so many things. Nothing works.
@algernonca 4 tablespoons of fresh ground flaxseed per day should work for at least a little while. It helped me for like 2 months. Now searching for additional help.
It doesn't matter if your vegan or not, you will get hot flashes because that's just life. Some women can take HRT and some (like me) won't be able to. You can eat healthy and exercise and it's not going to make a difference. I get mine every 45 minutes, they last 2-3 minutes, some are very intense (hot, sweaty) and some are mild (just feel hot). I've noticed that if I take vitamins they get worse, if I take probiotics they get worse. So if there is a solution for this out there, I've yet to hear about it. For now, my solution has been to carry a handheld fan in my handbag and take it out when I feel a hot flash coming on. At this point, I don't really care what people think and honestly, there are so many of us varying in age that it is becoming a fashion statement LOL!!
Im 54 and I have Nuclear meltdowns almost Every night! I'm on fire one minute, and then freezing the next. My sleep is terrible and I wake up feeling sick most days. Now, my vision is being affected. I have budding cataracts, which I just learned about 4 months ago. My eye doctor told me my cataracts have grown rapidly due to my hormonal imbalance. Menopause is not for wimps!
I started taking MSM for other things. Two weeks after taking it, I realized my hot Flashes were gone, this to me was a Bonus!! My hot flashes were not bad at all either before, 2 to 5 during the day. I just love this stuff!! Now I am also taking Methylene blue.... These two work amaZING together!! God Bless!
I should add that I was successful in not having any other Premenopausal or Menopausal issues other then hot flashes. The MSM, fixed too. I started taking that last 3/23 and like I said about two weeks later, POOF! No more hot flashes. Everyday I put some in my coffee. My body loves me for it! I will be 55 next Feb, and I haven't had my period for 2 years now... Thank Goodness I learned how to heal my body just by giving it the right tools to do that on it's own.
It is so embarrassing, I just turn 49 I look 30 I started to have them about a month ago let me tell you this it is very very awful feeling. I’m always cold I walk around with two sweaters all of a sudden that heat start from my face, my face will be so red and sweating my co workers will look at me like yo, take your sweater off then 5 min later I’m freezing they can’t tell why I’m like this bec I look 30,I pray to God to take this hot flashes because I know from the fact it doesn’t come from the Lord. The Lord will never want to see us suffer like this way
Ive been dealing with suicidal hot flashes since i was 19 and nothing helps- im 32 and just got the radical hysterectomy andvi still am having the same problems, still tryingbto figure it out before it causes me to hurt myself, i want to be dead im so tired and frustrated 😢

Hang in there. I'm in the same boat. I bought a cooling matress topper, 100% cotton sheets, a cooling pillow, ice packs to place on my neck for night sweats. I've found 2 Vit E and 1 Vit D each night is helping. I'm still working on other solutions. I'm still breaking out in sweats, but it's a work in progress.
I started eating 1/2 cup a day of whole soybeans (cooked in instant pot). I keep them in the freezer pre-measured. I cook them up with 1/2 cup of other beans and eat in tacos or in a little breakfast stew. I’m also drinking about 1-2 cups a day of soy milk. My hot flashes went from about 12-15 in 24 hours to about 5-6 in 2r hours. I’ve only been eating the soybeans for about 5 days so hoping to continue to see a reduction in the hot flashes. 🤞🤞
Also fyi I shamelessly bring an ice pack with me when I go out and I shove it into my armpits as needed. No shame in my game. Really need to normalize perimenopause.
I’m 55 and I just started getting hot flashes, I’m struggling with it now. I never knew how it feels until now. My sister is 63 and still having hot flashes. I can’t sleep through the night because of this. Help!
Not to mention the soybeans are delicious with some 'poultry' seasoning and salt. I make them in the Instant Pot, soaking them just 4-6 hours before I cook them. I don't mind using plenty of water because I drink the broth, so good. The addition of soybeans to my WFPB diet eliminated my remaining menopause symptoms completely. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN DR. BARNARD.
When you say sugar, do you include natural sweeteners and fruits? I am curious about that. I cut cane sugar out a year ago but sometimes make things with maple syrup and enjoy fruit. I'm wondering if reducing natural sugars would help reduce hot flashes
All of this information is great, but Please think beyond the symptoms of menopause, and think of the long term diseases of menopause caused by estrogen, deficiency, such as heart, disease, dementia, and osteoporosis. It is vital to get on estradiol and Prometrium if a woman has an intact uterus.
Those who have higher incidences of hot flashes are more predisposed to heart disease osteoporosis and other metabolic disorders. With soy, you get less hot flashes therefore less chances of those consequences. Soy has estrogenic properties that attach themselves unto the estrogen receptacles, thereby substituting for the loss of natural oestrogen. Exercise your body, take vitamin D3 and omega3 supplements as well.
There are other foods high in phytoestrogens that can help to reduce this symptom, not just soybeans, she also cleaned up her diet in general, which would have made a huge difference as being overweight will increase hot flashes.
I have been a whole-foods vegan for 11 years... hot flashes are wicked and plentiful...so it's more than diet. I personally believe it's about fat in the diet. With stress ( I'm in Florida, enough said) I notice I consume more fatty foods, and this makes them happen more often.
@@tonibartling3844 yes and no.... No,meaning I am not deliberate about my soy consuming for this reason. Yes because we eat a decent amount of tofu, soy products and soy milk since covid began.
I've been plant based since 2016 still many problems with hot flashes! Vitamin D3 seemed to help alot! I've been eating a lot of tofu. Started talking beet powder for legs now getting worse flashes!!!Helping my legs so much! Don't know if the flashes are worth it!!
a few soybeans are not going to fix hot flashes-they are vicious. and dont get me started about all the other symptoms! it’s awful. I commiserate with you. ❤️
Well , I am 48 years old female . I have heard about hot flashes but never knew I am gonna have them. I hit menopause, for the last 3 days I have hot flashes , I am looking for help that is the reason I found this video! Lets try hope God help me.
Please post an update...I'd be curious to know if this helped for you. I eat soybeans on occasion but am going to try eating a half cup every day and see what happens.
I'm 41 and my sleep is right messed up now! Hot/cold all night, and I just had surgery 2 years ago so that I could be drug free.. Off of birth control... I do not want to go back to pharma... 😢 And I used to be more on the cold side all the time.
I had so many bouts with being freezing cold and chills going through my whole body I realized I was low on iodine so I got some multivitamins I take one every day that has iodine in it and it helps a lot it takes a couple months for it to build up in your system go get a good multivitamin and take one every day
Okay I just started watching the video and I'm so excited because I hate hot flashes. But my question is is why would this lady wear pajamas to bed. I haven't worn anything too bad for 15 years because of hot flashes?
I kept a food and hot flash diary and found that eliminating these from my diet helped: Hormonal foods like commercially raised beef and RBST dairy. Grass fed beef is good, even if it’s corn finished. Beef like you would get at Whole Foods is okay. You can find lists online of dairy companies that use only RBST free milk. Deli type meats that are cured with nitrates. Even “uncured” meats that use cherry and celery powder still have enough natural nitrates to cause hot flashes for me. Daily vitamins with Calcium and Niacin, these have a vascular effect. Most alcohol - I did find that Fetzer brand wine did not cause hot flashes for me. YMMV.
Doing the HRT-Hormone Replacement Therapy to get rid of hot flashes has caused me more problems. I wish I didn't do it at all. It caused me to have vaginal cysts inside & outside of my vagina. It's terrible. Ruins your sex life. Doctor doesn't even tell you that. How hard is that to tell your patient that. Grrrrr.
When I went plant based, my hair was falling out a lot. Now carnivore, and I stopped losing hair. It’s coming in thicker. Had hot flashes either way, only HRT helps.
So what does this say about my health if I've tried the soybeans for 6 weeks and had no change in the hot flashes? A couple years ago I stopped eating hormonal foods like beef and RBST dairy and had a big reduction in hot flashes. But I still get them at night. What should my doctor be testing me for? I did have a heart attack 9 years ago, about the same time that menopause began.
Physiology, Temperature Regulation www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507838/ Robert Freedman, a professor of psychiatry and obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University, has found that women who experience hot flashes tend to demonstrate a more narrow hypothalamic temperature zone between the upper and lower threshold temperatures involved in heat loss and heat production, respectively, which leads to an increased likelihood of crossing these thresholds and developing sweats and chills associated with hot flashes. A pre-menopausal woman has an interthreshold zone of about 0.4°C, in which temperature fluctuations between 0 and 0.4°C will not trigger compensatory chills, flushing, or sweating. However, in a menopausal woman, this threshold zone is significantly reduced, leading to even minute fluctuations in body temperature initiating thermoregulatory responses.
My hot flashes started at the age of 61, in postmenopause, and my face gets very red and inflamed, especially, on the right side, including the temporal lobe. I’m start taking organic tofu now on…and flaxseeds.
It is now 17 years that I have been having hot flash every hour and sometime within 45 minutes I am restless, it wakes me up at night. I just cannot sleep. I’m so tired during the days and because I have had breast cancer before I cannot take anything with hormone. I have tried everything naturally over the counter. Nothing work, the last thing the doctor gave me was testosterone cream, that did not work either. I don’t know what to do.
Avoid sugar. Also check out the 10 glucose hacks on the "Glucose Revolution" youtube channel, as well as "Dr. Mindy Pelz" videos talking about menopause and intermittent fasting. If you want to lose weight I highly recommend looking into intermittent fasting. Dr. Mindy helps menopausal women do the fasting correctly. You could also look into the use of flaxseed or flaxseed oil to reduce hot flashes.
Oh my gosh, I wish I could wake up only 3 times a night from hot flashes/night sweats. A good night for me is 6-8 times per night. A bad night is around 16. It's been a decade, and I've tried countless 'remedies', include serious long-term diet changes. The improved diet has made a huge difference in other areas of my health, but hasn't touched the hot flashes. It makes me worry about my health in the future if I'm consistently getting no more than 1.5 hours of sleep at a time.
I have had luck w/ the capsules by Relizen! It does take like a good 4-8 weeks to be effective though... but worth it. I can't take HRT due to BC so my options are limited
I have had hot flashes at least 20 years. I hate it in summer, I get so hot. In the winter, I don’t mind it as much, because it warms me up when I am cold.
The only thing that works is exercise- cardio weight training - It takes a few weeks to kick in but you will sleep better and the flashes are almost non existent
It does not matter just do brisk walking for 40 min a day if you cant do that do 20 min add light weights with the help of a trainer once you get a routine going@@holtmama4453
Having thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) I have always been advised to stay away from soy. I am in desperate need to get rid of these night sweats so I can sleep!!
Look into bio identical progesterone cream Aim Renewed Balance and I also take DIM Smoky Mountain with Calcium D- Glucarate.. Low pregesteron is disguised as low estrogen when in reality it’s estrogen dominance. Check Dr John R Lee s book. Believe me it works. Hope this helps! This will not hurt your thyroid
@@johannest-denis9083 thank you!! I had been taking the dim from sm for a long time but it didn't make a difference 😕 I recently started Meno breeze and it worked amazing for the first two weeks but my hot flashes and night sweats have come back this past week.
@@jennasix1 I began with that as well, but once I started researching realized that the compounded variety may address the symptoms of menopause, but it is not strong enough to address/prevent the diseases of menopause that result from long-term estrogen deficiency. Unfortunately, this wasn't helpful for me at all. I needed to start Clonidine at the lowest dose possible. I believe being on BC pills for decades really messed up my system. I wasn't able to birth children, either when trying during my 20's.
@@jacquelinemukosa8279 I have since switched to HRT due to bradycardia caused by the Clonidine and severe estrogen deficiency. It has been a huge help!!
@@jacquelinemukosa8279 I did, too. Ended up choosing HRT after discovering I had estrogen deficiency, which can cause heart disease and cancer. Way more so than HRT causes. I highly recommend checking out Menopause Taylor.

i'm curious. i'll watch. has anyone had this experience....i've been eating the 1/2 cup soybeans daily for 10 days now (i was actually eating more like 3/4 cup but cut back to their recommendation of 1/2 cup.) i have POSSIBLY noticed a LITTLE reduction in hot flashes, BUT my problem is that i seem to have put on all this lumpy bumpy CELLULITE? on my abdomen and over/behind the rib cage and back/sides. i didn't have this prior! ARE THESE SOYBEANS PUTTING WEIGHT ON ME OR MAKING ME RETAIN WATER?! i have not increased my calorie intake. i eat the soybeans plain, with lunch, so i end up eating less of my other stuff because the beans fill me, so it's NOT that. i've been vegan for over 9 years and was vegetarian prior to that. i'm ready to stop the soybeans! HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS OR HEARD OF IT? it's straight black soybeans from a can (only thing in it is a little seaweed for flavor that they add, but the sodium isn't high.) so why did i suddenly gain all this weight/water retention in my abdomen and back, love handle area etc? HELP!
Hi, Take a look at Dr Berg (Burg?) On youtube. He does great articles about menopause. Its not cellulite. Its something to do with protein breakdown, fatty liver and menopause. He is big on keto and intermittant fasting. Everyone is different. I have a friend who did studies on soy and explained that the villi in the gut would elongate, become brittle and break off! Good luck🥰
@@kernow1273 thanks. it's just weird because the sudden cellulite-like lumpy bumpiness seems to have started right when i began the soybeans daily. i do eat way too much in terms of vegan processed foods and probably too much fat, and age (i'm 56) definitely has affected my ability to eat whatever i want and maintain the weight i want😊 what has always worked for me in terms of losing weight and maintaining is 'calories in calories out!' limit junk food (i'm not into total deprivation) and definitely daily exercise. i need to get motivated again....been really lazy fir the past few years.

I wish you talked about more than hot flashes after a woman's last period. What about all the issues women may have before the last period? From what I've read the study included only women who had had their last period at least 12 months ago. What about all of us before that date?
I love that men are getting more comfortable wearing basic makeup. It looks great on some men and it's awesome they're allowing themselves the joy and creativity to do that. This coming from a woman who doesn't wear makeup lol. But I love that others freely explore that.
Soy isolates are very dangerous😫Soy is grown mostly GMO and it’s the glyphosates that’s a problem for our cells that allows cancer growth😢Please y’all do your research😫I’m residing in St. Maarten and there was a Rasta lady that developed cancer and all she consumed was soy products and on her dying bed she begged all her friends to stop using soy, I understand too she wasn’t even middle age, she was quite young and vibrant and full of life😫May Father rest her soul in peace🙏🏼

Just introduced fish for the Omega’s. I take fermented soy, edamame, Miso and I am waiting for the results. No miracle....
Makes one wonder if the effects of hot flashes are compounded when consuming animal products, due to the fact that ALL animal products cause inflammation in ALL human bodies???
I eat only animal products, and my inflammation issues are completely gone. You have it backwards. Most plants don’t want to be eaten, so they cause inflammation as a natural pesticide. Do some research.
Im vegan and still have the hot flashes🥹I think noone can explain why some woman have them and sone woman don’t experience them!…Its only assumptions so far..!!!!or own experiences , my mum never had hot flashes for an instance 😊
I have to tell you that I was curious about the mature Non-GMO whole soy beans. So I have been upping my consumption of edamame, the green soy bean in the frozen food section of Winco Foods but had to order the mature soybeans. They got here yesterday, could not hardly wait to cook them. I have been getting good results for helping myself finally get a good night’s sleep, but the mature soy beans are awesome. I did them in the Insta-Pot having soaked the over 6 hours. Did 40 minutes on pressure cook and did not add salt, put about 1 above the soaked soybeans. I did the slow release. They are better when cooled as at first I thought they were a bit too tender or mushy. Overnight after cooked, they were perfect. Today I added them my 5-bean vegan chili which we are having as leftovers today. So we ate less of the chili and had it with air-fried French fries, oil-free. Great meal. I think was we ramp up soluble fiber which helps our gut bacteria which help digest our food, when they are well-fed, they produce both butyrate which is cancer-protective and also produce serotonin which gets absorbed along with our other nutrients and the serotonin is taken up by the brain. I slept 8-1/2 hours last night. When you consider that getting 4 hours was a good night when some nights I may have gotten 2. For me to get over 8 hours is fabulous. I no longer get hot flashes but that was because the WFPB had helped me already so much. And I also have more energy. And I feel calm and like a whole person. I feel sane again. I feel like me again. And the whole soy, I wish I had been able to use it earlier in my life. But glad to have it now, loads of women are going on HRT for BHRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy or Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy). My dad and maternal grandmother died of Alzheimer’s, so I want to make sure I do not get that. The diet has been improving my cognition, when I began the diet, I was having short-term memory problems. WFPB is the best thing I’ve ever tried to help myself.
Menopause isn't just about Hot flashes! there's mood issues, crunchy joints, thyroid imbalance, the works! get HRT. stop suffering and get your life back. nothing you eat or take will fix anything and help slow aging except Hormones!!!!
I had some the worst hotflashes but hotflashes were not nearly my concern. My biggest challenges were the mood! The headaches! The sleep deprivation...it was so tough. Just glad I made out alive. My heart goes out for the women who suffer so much during those years.
Does it get better please?

I’m 54, been having hot flashes/night sweats for about 9 months now. I’ve been vegan, whole foods mostly, for years.
When I first heard about this study, I started eating 1/2 cup edamame daily, but I see here he says it’s the mature soybeans that are recommended. I ordered some on Amazon, and I’ll see if the Asian market here has some.
I’m surprised it takes so much low-fat soymilk to get the necessary amount of isoflavones.🤔
Edit update:
So I started eating a half cup of mature soybeans daily on 8-6-21.
But soy is actually not good for ya. But I need to try something. 🤷

I love my hot flashes. I find them conforting. Im warm all winter. I leave the window open at night and I love the fresh air.
The only thing that rid me of hot flashes was HRT.
me too. HRT for the win!
Did you start having a period again, or have spotting? My mom did hrt and started spotting, and decided to stop the hrt.

@@mariebuch5382 what is an earthing mat? What is in it that helped you?
I sympathize with you. it’s frustrating hearing this stuff about how eating right will make hot flashes go away. may bring relief for a few but not for most. I was getting dozens of hot flashes an hour, all day and all night (not to mention all the other crummy symptoms). my whole food plant based diet and overall healthy lifestyle made my doctor more confident that hormone replacement would come with minimum risk for me. I feel human again. Ask your doc about this option.

Same here! I’m now going to add some Swedish flower pollen to see if it helps 🤞🏻🤞🏻🥵
I take 1/2 a cup everyday at the beginning I noticed a 80 percent decrease and after two weeks eating the

At this point, I don't really care what people think and honestly, there are so many of us varying in age that it is becoming a fashion statement LOL!!

milled flax seeds 2 tablespoons a day keeps hot flushes away😅
Weight training and cardio 3x a week, and i did cut sugar to zero. Worked amazingly for me. I get almost anything

Could give us a list of foods that you avoid and how often you eat soya beans
I kept a food and hot flash diary and found that eliminating these from my diet helped:
Hormonal foods like commercially raised beef and RBST dairy.
Grrrrr.
Will natto (fermented soy beans) work?
When I went plant based, my hair was falling out a lot. Now carnivore, and I stopped losing hair. It’s coming in thicker. Had hot flashes either way, only HRT helps.
Yes loosing my hair..so sad
Check the zinc..
Iodine, selenium, zinc and magnesium.
I was having them every half hour nigh and day! I now drink a litre of soya milk a day instead of dairy milk and they are much better
Physiology, Temperature Regulation
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507838/
Robert Freedman, a professor of psychiatry and obstetrics and gynecology at Wayne State University, has found that women who experience hot flashes tend to demonstrate a more narrow hypothalamic temperature zone between the upper and lower threshold temperatures involved in heat loss and heat production, respectively, which leads to an increased likelihood of crossing these thresholds and developing sweats and chills associated with hot flashes.
Thank you for sharing 🙏🙏👍
Highly allergic to soy… causes breathing problems 🙁. Can’t take HRT, 😔. Going to lose weight and exercise. What else can I do? 🤷🏻♀️
You should try beans and certain fruits such as berries.
Yeah. When I get a hot flash, I like to walk out in the cold winter air and it's so nice
I’m 4 years in. Gosh 20 years is a lot.
Anybody having palpitations due to menopause? Will soymilk help?
Yup
Yes
I need more information on what not to eat. I do ww and eat alot of veggies but alao protein, animal sourced
The only thing that works is exercise- cardio weight training - It takes a few weeks to kick in but you will sleep better and the flashes are almost non existent
Do you recommend exercising first thing in the morning or in the evening?
It does not matter just do brisk walking for 40 min a day if you cant do that do 20 min add light weights with the help of a trainer once you get a routine going@@holtmama4453
I exercise all the time (5 times a week) and it did nothing for my hot flashes ans night sweats.
I really have an awful hot flushes and the worst is my face is full of rashes because of the sweat I WILL DEFINITELY TRY SOY BEAN MILK
I will try soybeans!!! I am 57 and get hot flashes every night and get them during the day all day long. Hope this works.
Did ithelp? X
Go and see your doctor and ask for estradiol patches and Prometrium- you need to replace your estrogen in order to feel better
I actually started compounded bioidentical estrogen cream in sept and they are GONE!! PTL
@@jennasix1 I began with that as well, but once I started researching realized that the compounded variety may address the symptoms of menopause, but it is not strong enough to address/prevent the diseases of menopause that result from long-term estrogen deficiency. Osteoporosis, heart, disease, and dementia. Check out Heather Hirsch MDs, TH-cam channel as well as menopause Taylor
Unfortunately, this wasn't helpful for me at all. I needed to start Clonidine at the lowest dose possible. I believe being on BC pills for decades really messed up my system. I wasn't able to birth children, either when trying during my 20's.
I feel dizzy when I take Clonidine.
I was wondering if that’s what my issue is also, insane night and day sweats it’s so embarrassing and disgusting goes right through my clothes, did the clonidine help? Thanks
My mum also has night sweats until she was in her late 90s. I am stilling having my periods and the odd hot flash to my head only.
i'm curious. i'll watch. has anyone had this experience....i've been eating the 1/2 cup soybeans daily for 10 days now (i was actually eating more like 3/4 cup but cut back to their recommendation of 1/2 cup.) i have POSSIBLY noticed a LITTLE reduction in hot flashes, BUT my problem is that i seem to have put on all this lumpy bumpy CELLULITE? on my abdomen and over/behind the rib cage and back/sides.
i didn't have this prior!
@@arayahmariah Im 56 too. I avoid soya. I did try it but it didn't help. I dont avoid fat. I need to avoid carbs and processed foods though. Good luck🥰
Did u just eat them plain or did u add them to different recipes? Such as smoothies, soups, chili, etc.
Be careful with Dr Berg as suggested because not everything he spouts out is good advice.
I am 47. I love my coconut water, kidney beans, navy beans, white beans, black beans, cucumbers, celery, carrots, tomatoes, chickpeas, tofu, tempeh, edamame, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, pineapple, honeydew, plain greek yogurt, plain yogurt, quinoa, brown rice, etc.. I cut out refined sugar, refined flour, fast food, junk food etc..
How do l know w o testing. Dr Apts bills etc if my progesterone is low estrogen high or vice versa??
I don't sweat that much but feel hot around neck and have to cool down.
And it s irregular...happens on and off during day and at night.
I do know soybeans edamame are estrogen...
I'm 62🇯🇲
how much soy do i need to eat everyday? Where does it address this in this video?
1/2 cup.
But I love that others freely explore that.
huuuuuuuuh???????
huh???
Soy isolates are very dangerous😫Soy is grown mostly GMO and it’s the glyphosates that’s a problem for our cells that allows cancer growth😢Please y’all do your research😫I’m residing in St. Maarten and there was a Rasta lady that developed cancer and all she consumed was soy products and on her dying bed she begged all her friends to stop using soy, I understand too she wasn’t even middle age, she was quite young and vibrant and full of life😫May Father rest her soul in peace🙏🏼
From soy or from soy isolate? They are totally different. Also how come Asians eat so much soy and they don’t develop cancer from it?
so Glyphosate free edamame is ok?
How much edamame do u need to eat a day, and what was the study diet? From where?
1/2 C per day. There is a link to the study in the description.
Thanks
thanks so much for sharing.
But you barely told us what she is doing am I correct she is eating Edamame beans daily.... I had them daily per hour for years especially in the summer. I reduced it to about 85% with lighter clothing, oganic red Maca, and camu camu. Will try the Edamame beans as well thanks. Perhaps a follow up on beans, amount, and where she suggest purchasing for clean healthy beans.
thank you
Thanks a million for sharing this with us tomorrow morning first thing first I am going to get myself everything that contains Soya beans milk oil butter I mean everything thanks very much and may the good lord keep on blessings with many more years to come in Jesus name I pray you are the life saver
Homeopathy medicine lachesis, sepia etc immensely help
SOY ISOFLAVONES (Now Foods brand capsules) is another way to get soy :) in the Japanese culture they have eaten TONS of soy per day for hundreds of years and they are WAY healthier than us. (Nattō, Miso soup with Tofu, Tofu on its own, soy milk, soy sauce, edamame)
I am 60 years and just going through perimenopause. I just started getting hot flashes but not at the sweaty stage. I have several other symptoms. I have been on a plant-based diet for 15 years. Just introduced fish for the Omega’s. I take fermented soy, edamame, Miso and I am waiting for the results. No miracle....
Have you seen any improvement yet?
I am having this reaally i drink alot of water tea fruits vegetable i want to calm please i am listing what to do
Is it normal to get flashes at69? Im miserable, don’t take meds or anything for it what helps?
no! bad advice Dr. you don't hate your friends for not having hot flashes.
God mercy is the medicine God bless you all
Makes one wonder if the effects of hot flashes are compounded when consuming animal products, due to the fact that ALL animal products cause inflammation in ALL human bodies???
I eat only animal products, and my inflammation issues are completely gone. You have it backwards. Most plants don’t want to be eaten, so they cause inflammation as a natural pesticide. Do some research.
And they are loaded with hormones etc if not organic
@@TonyaA7 😱
Mom. I'm
.l. look p
What HTT and Bio …did you take, please?
Please correct me if I'm wrong...I don't think I can eat soybeans. I have really bad hereditary hypothyroidism. The hot flashes are awful.
It IS miserable. Its hard to function with no sleep.
Menopause isn't just about Hot flashes! there's mood issues, crunchy joints, thyroid imbalance, the works! get HRT. stop suffering and get your life back. nothing you eat or take will fix anything and help slow aging except Hormones!!!!
I take soy and I don't have those symptoms anymore.
What HRT do you take?
Can't take HRT 😢
Such a pity. I suffer from hot flashes but I can’t eat soy, because soy negatively interferes with my thyroid medication.
I’m 40. I had a hysterectomy and kept one ovary. I’m going thru the hot flashes and night sweats. It’s horrible.
Hi there, how are you now? Do you still get hot flashes?
Give us the recipe/instructions, I am burning!!!!
I found a vegan diet helps but, I avoid soy. Big flush trigger for me is chocolate😭 anxiety trigger is wheat.
I must have missed something. All I heard was eat more soy and don't eat cheese. What else was she avoiding in her diet?
Sugar and junk food
All in all you use Soya beans n soya mlk cause I need something to use rather than tablets thanks for sharing ❤
