    Yes I know this is a flight review channel, but I was so moved by my trip to the Galapagos I simply have to share my experiences. If you love nature at all, go. I'll have some in depth guides for each of the island coming soon, but here's 10 overall tips to kick things off. Have you been/want to go to the Galapagos? Post your questions or experiences down below!

      Aww thanks so much! Hopefully I've markedly improved since this video. Finally posted my last video on the Galapagos this past Saturday. I only do a handful of these travel guide videos (and they don't do well), but its always about places I care about. Once this era of the world is over, I hope to make more from time to time.

    I am departing 12NOV with a tour from Out Adventures. 16 passengers, two guides, and eight crew members. It has been my number one destination for over 50 years. This is my retirement gift to myself.

    Thanks for making this video. How long did you stay and how many tours/excursions did you sign up for?

      Gosh it’s been a few years at this point, let me try and remember:
      Santa Cruz: 2 days of diving with Scuba Iguana, 1 day trip to North Seymore, 1/2 day on my own on a bicycle
      San Cristobal: 1 day trip to Punta Pitt, 1 trip to Espanola, 1/2 rent a taxi with others to see the island
      Isabella: 1/2 day trip to Los Tunelles, a few hours bike rental to Muro de Las Lagrimas

    Maybe you could help answer this question. I'd certainly appreciate it if you could try. How do I make sure I will be able to enter the Galapagos without exceeding the tourist limitations? I keep reading that there are limits to the number of tourists in the Galapagos, but I see no place to find out whether I am going to exceed that limit. For example, how do I know that, once I get off the plane at Baltra or San Cristobal, I will not be told that I have to turn around because I am exceeding the number of tourists? I am traveling on my own, no guide.

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am unaware of any fixed limits on the number of tourists to the Galapagos. I know there has been talk of it from various avenues but I believe nothing is in place yet. You should be good with just doing the paperwork before you board and when you land. I talk about it a bit in the Avianca video.

    Hi, you mentioned bringing lots of cash cause of the ATM situation there. May I know how much you suggest for one person for about 7 to 10 days?

    This is incredibly helpful. I am an octogenarian with issues, so it probably won't work for me, but it's been on my bucket list for 60 years. I am so sorry to miss out. I watch every
    video and at least get a taste of what Galapagos is about.

      Glad it was helpful! I too had waited a lifetime to go and it was totally worth it. Spent a full 2 weeks, though of course you can do shorter. Hopefully the other three videos in the playlist (that I finally finished this year) provide more concrete tips and advice for each of the three islands.

    Dont you need a PADI scuba cert to dive? Didnt hear that mentioned

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well yes, but you need to be certified (Padi, SSI, Naui) to dive anywhere. I don’t believe in the “resort course” where they chuck you in the ocean.

    Hey I know it’s been a while for you taking this trip but it’s really that accessible to travel agencies that can take you to other islands? Because I’m going this August and as of right now we have a hotel in the main land but I haven’t booked any excursions for the main island/others.

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like you said I went pre-Covid so it’s possible things have changed. Capacity is limited, so there’s an issue of supply and demand. If your days are fixed and you really want to see (x) then I’d book ahead of time to be safe. I had 2 weeks there so had the luxury of being more flexible. Still I missed out on scuba at kicker rock because it was sold out.
      The ferries themselves are frequent so you can book them when you arrive.

    I'm planning a trip to Ecuador next year for a medical internship. Could I take a weekend trip to Galapagos island and see a decent amount in two days if my goal is just to see wildlife?

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two days is really pushing it, I’d do 5 minimum personally. Still, if you flew to San Cristobal from the mainland you could do 1 day on the island and 1 days of boat tour. The other islands just have too much travel time to make it worthwhile.

    Can you bring small children? Or would you recommend ?

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did see children. Obviously a stroller is going to be a challenge with getting on small boats. Many of the excursions used dingys/zodiacs. As long as they respect the wildlife like everyone else I don’t see it as a problem.

    What is the covid situation in Galapagos? Isolation?

    • @Travelog
      @Travelog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That I’m not sure, this was filmed back in 2019. I know several viewers were planning on going though. I believe you need a PCR test. I can only imagine the devastation to the tourism industry, which is obviously the lifeblood of the islands.
