Korg needs to update the 3 original Volcas to include "Global System Parameter" #8 which is for the "Sync input/output unit". This would allow the entire collection of Volcas to sync to “Once a step” (or 4 PPQN). The added bonus is that when the Volca Drum, Volca Kick, or Volca Sample is used as the master clock, the swing settings will extend to all Volcas in the chain.
Pardon my ignorance but do these Volca drum machines all have that sort of flat kick sound or can you get a bassier low end thump from them? These are so freakin' cool.
Forgive a dumb question: but would these be useful for someone trying to make rock music solo? In my situation I have my guitar, bass, amp, and Tascam for recording, would this be a good option for adding drums to the mix?
Get an Alesis SR-16, that would be more what would fit....although I sold mone and now instead have the Korg Volca Drum...I want ot to make electronic music.
@Joe Wright i do but for some reason it can only run on batteries because the ac adapter plug seems to have an issue. the claps are ok but i love it for the hats and snare
Word, i was gonna say something like, looks like Korg has been taking notes from Teenage Engineering as some of the tweaks instantly reminded me of OP-1 style sounds.
@@EnochDark honestly it is a lot more like the ER-1 with features of some of the POs and new electribes - I preordered because it will replace my ER-1 not just on my desk but be portable as well
@@whormongrmuzik word... never had the ER or EA but had the ES and EM ;) i think this thing is better than those early tribes though since they were so overly reliant on fx and this seems to have (at least more easlily) more access to editing the sounds themselves.
@@EnochDark the er1 (i have the mk2 but they are the same except for the aux channel) actually isn't heavily effect leaning, it only has a delay but like this the fun is in the cross mod and the modifier that is kind of an lfo. i still use my er1 all the time, i preordered this one too though because the portability is awesome and it looks like you can really break out with this live

Well I have most of the volcas. I'll definitely pick this up, and use it along side volca beats so I can get a punchy, but also deep, bass drum. I have the kick but I'm selling it. Great for trap and hip hop. Not great for much else.

My honest opinion is why am I always the only one! This just doesn’t have anything on my volca kick and beats. Sure it can do drum synthesis-wow tonic as a vst destroys it! But I guess it might make some people’s studio more diverse. The new minilogue xd now that is completely different I am buying that as soon as it appears in Australia!!

Well the er1 had a decay and this one only has 1 more parameter, attack. So saying one has an envelope and the other doesn't based on having 2 parameters instead of 1, idk.... I agree that the er1, being a drum machine, didn't *need* an attack all that much, but why look a gift horse in the mouth. It will definitely be nice to have and will offer more dimensions to the sounds you can get. I'm glad it has it, more FM'y fun that way
I honestly could have skipped the wave guide completely. Just having an er1 engine with a better snare sound is enough for me. (The 2 layers should cover that I'm guessing) Nice if the simple hands on modulation section had been here instead of the screen based one and weird way that parameter knob works. I'd trade that for the wave guide in a heartbeat. But I'll make do

Okay, it could be cool and all, but with so much emphasis on new, revolutionary, unique, never heard before etc., why am I not hearing results that would be unique, revolutionary and never heard before? These concepts on the synth engine have probably not been put together in a product like Volca Drum before, but it's not like Korg has invented modulating oscillator with another oscillator, wavefolding or physical modelling of stuff that is not possible in real world. It sounds kinda good, but this video felt like just reading marketing material from teleprompter.
don't buy this, get the korg ESX same fx and stuff but you can easily create the same sounds (only better) I now use elektron & jomox gear but still miss the esx the money spend in this unit is way too much it really looks and sounds nice but concider the esx first, it's just that 100 euros more, if you're lucky even less (just saying)
there's some sick beats coming out of that. I'd almost listen to an album of just this thing.

I don't understand that "new DSP" term. I have old ER-1, this Vdrum sounds pretty close and synth engine looks familiar. It's just "renew" IMHO.
This is a different engine. The ER-1 didn't use waveguiding or Karplus Strong synthesis, to name some examples.
