Of all the images I've seen so far, the opening scene of the Buddhist shrine was so poignant. Tranquility lost in a sea of despair. Can words of comfort break through the silence of that landscape? @@projectdesign4675 "Budda could not save that first location." Oh how true that is. Idolatry! Stone made from hands, that speak not nor hear, yet is worshipped either with their hands or their minds (their philosophy). Only the Lord Jesus Christ alone saves eternally. I truly believe that, even though the Lord didn't do this, he allowed it, so that people would wake up from their lives of Idolatry. All this stuff is temporal and will fade away. As we all now see. Yet people think that this STUFF is..They're lives. Time for a different perspective on what life truly is about.
I don’t understand how houses built right on the beach can’t be protected from fires with something as simple as a motor pump drawing water straight from the ocean - an endless resource!

@@pumasgoya I can guarantee the MSM has shown absolutely nothing close to this long drive. They don't have the funds, the time, or in view of Democrat collusion with the MSM, the inclination. Outing the incompetence of the leaders of California, LA, and fire departments doesn't fit with their agendas. As for my comment, Zuckerberg promised to end his censorship policies. We'll see if my comment sees the light of day.
@@pumasgoya that's what I'm saying. All the news channels have been showing is the devastation in various areas affected by the fires. Just today, one news channel did a slow drive through the streets of Altadena to show the hellscape.
Excellent coverage, unbelievable. I didn't realize the devastation between Topanga and Malibu. I watched the news, but I was confused. Because it seems like they weren't showing PCH, not like you. The amount of damage.😞 PCH probably now has approximately the same amount of developed houses on the beach as like back in the 1950s. I've never seen that much barren coastline along that same stretch in my whole life. I'm in my 60s, I know all this whole stretch in your video. THIS is what the news should be showing. I'm negating or ignoring the Palisades. It's just that this is the first time I've seen THIS!!! (dumb legacy media, always leaving something, A LOT, out).
I've been saying the same thing but I guess money will buy news coverage if your rich I lost alot of family and friends back east and they are still fighting for the needed help they need but because there not elite citizens the government doesn't think they matter. And of course California will get all the assistance they ask for even though they caused there own demise.
That's old news. MSM moves on to the latest disaster. And no famous entertainers were impacted. I heard one put up a go fund me. For a mansion in california. How tacky and selfish.
This is beyond words, Sometimes I have to stop watching the video it's simply just too much. I went through a house fire many years ago and it's something I wish upon anyone. Going to years to clean up and rebuild. People have lost everything including their jobs. To make matters worse people looted homes, I mean seriously? At a time like this? I have never in my life seen such a fire! God please help get this under control like some rain. Canada has offered to help just waiting for the request. (Canada here).
I have to say that the coastline is absolutely amazing and looks better with all of the buildings gone! You can see the coastline, the ocean ,and get a sense of how beautiful it was before development came in. Sorry for people's loss but it would be great if the city had an overlay plan to restore the coast to greenspace and said no to losses over 70%. This could be a rare chance to restore this area back to nature..
I watched this from Poland. Looks like there was no access to ocean front for ordinary folks, while all the houses were densly packed side by side. Not fair. The ocean belongs to us all.
It's somewhat appropriate showing statues of the Buddha, who taught that we shouldn't accumulate or be attached to material possessions. It isn't the loss of property that causes mental anguish, but our perception of the loss. None of us came with possessions and none of us will take any with us when our time comes. Ownership is an illusion.
It's an entirely different story when it happens to you. Trust me. Suddenly becoming homeless because of a natural disaster isn't devastating because of the loss of material possessions. It's gut wrenching because you have nowhere to go. You have to rely on donations and kind people to get through it all. Then the horrendous job of rebuilding and fighting with insurance begins and doesn't end for years.
@@MidnightSonnet I understand the loss of shelter. It's a sad situation in So. Cal. However, it is still true that it's our thoughts about the loss that are more difficult than the loss itself. None of us takes anything with us in the end, so we shouldn't accumulate too much more than what meets our needs - and not our wants.
I'm heartbroken and stunned at the sheer devastation. Never have seen anything like this in Topanga or Malibu...or CA for that matter. This was my old stomping grounds...I know many who lost everything. Makes me feel awful for the displaced. Praying !!
This is my old neighborhood of Big Rock , Malibu but there was no news coverage. It burned Tuesday night. My neighbors on the mesa all lost their homes. What you are seing is the Reel Inn restaurant/market and the Malibu Cabin Motel. Wylie’s bait shop was an iconic bait store protected from tear down.
Devastating disaster. The ones that had the mansions blocking coastline view from others will get their money. I'm quite positive THEIR policies weren't cancelled. I have my empathy and compassion for the poor, the middle class, the elderly struggling on social security. And for all the helpless animals.❤
In an event like this, when it's not possible to fight individual structure fires, it's so strange to see the end result. You can determine the footprint of the vanished building and you can identify a few items which were not totally consumed, like bedsprings or grills or appliances, although the latter are usually very warped. But there is no hint of how the interior was divided up or how high the ceilings were or even how many stories there were. The now-empty space seems remarkably small; so small you wonder how a house or a store or a restaurant could even have been there at all.

Thank you for this. I've driven PCH (both directions) for decades. This is my southern route to get from Ventura County anywhere in the LA area. LAX, Beverly HIlls, family in Redondo, Hollywood, even to Roger's Gardens in Corona del Mar. I've always loved this part of any drive south. But I don't do it enough to be able to figure out where this is all happening without landmarks Sunset I know, the Santa Monica Pier I know but from there to Pt. Mugu, don't have the recall without the visual. Thank you for all that.
Devastation and loss is not gorgeous. Who should compensate them for their property, the taxpayers? Perhaps they should just walk away and not rebuild but keep paying taxes on the property?
I am from Southern California and live in Yorba Linda. California still has the most beautiful coastline of ocean 🌊. I love California. No other state like it.
@@user-px9nx9pc7k It is great for private individuals who can actually afford to live in these beautiful desert areas where rainfall can be minimal for long stretches while they pump precious drinking water from stressed acquifers onto their properties to artificially coax lush vegetation to grow. When this happens it is simply nature reclaiming what is hers and if they have built up lavish artificial residences in the way it must NOT be our responsibility here in North Dakota to help fund VEE VILL REBILDT! knee jerk reaction to this tragedy. Rather these areas should be National Forest Reserve (ocean side) lands for the whole nation to enjoy. And our insurance premiums in North Dakota should not be impacted by this either! One of the problems I have with the USA in general is that for whatever reason, we depend on grid power, and continue to run power lines in the air. Those lines should have been put underground years ago. The same but different problem occurs in Florida. I know underground lines are more costly, but in a dumb sense, if you have no customers because their houses burned down, it makes sense to replace them. In Florida, they keep replacing them, even though they get hurricanes yearly.
They were all actually on State Park land & they should probably move up the the road a bit. It's doubtful they will be back in that spot otherwise the same thing will eventually happen again. The Santa Ana winds blow from East to West so that section there isn't too smart for structures. The wind and fire literally came down Topanga Canyon taking everything there.

Of all the images I've seen so far, the opening scene of the Buddhist shrine was so poignant. Tranquility lost in a sea of despair. Can words of comfort break through the silence of that landscape? If the flood of tears from this country could rain, the fires would be extinguished. With love and hope from Indy. 🙏

Oh how true that is.

I'm guessing the unimpeded, open view of the ocean from the highway, not blocked by the solid wall of houses, hasn't been seen along here for probably 90 years - ?
And must not be rebuilt, it is so much better, there is not enough land in any case, houses in stilts should be banned
That really puts things into perspective like unimaginable.
Maybe a good idea not to build there. Let the state buy out the land.

I've never seen that much barren coastline along that same stretch in my whole life. I'm in my 60s, I know all this whole stretch in your video. THIS is what the news should be showing.
It's my understanding that they may not get permits to rebuild.
It should become a National Seashore ( like Cape Cod).
North Carolina outer Banks lose house in ocean there no building back
🎯 This beautiful view and access to the beach should be for everyone. It would be great if they prevented people from rebuilding there.
I watched this from Poland. Looks like there was no access to ocean front for ordinary folks, while all the houses were densly packed side by side. Not fair. The ocean belongs to us all.
Wow thanks grew up in Santa Monica, so sad to see.
Shocking. Bleak. But important to document. Thank you.

@@hoodatdondar2664it is…it is a powerful reminder to stay loving but detached in this life.
Impermanence.
@@MidnightSonnet I understand the loss of shelter. It's a sad situation in So. Cal. However, it is still true that it's our thoughts about the loss that are more difficult than the loss itself.
Maybe it was all an illusion.
