The reason China cannot afford the same freedom is because capitalist class owned Media serves the interest of the capitalist class and not the public interest.
Freedom is a double edge sword. Power is immense. Exercised rationally and responsibly does the greatest good both individually and socially. Abuse it, all sorts of fanatics, racist and militarist dominate Public discourse, opinion and so on.
This is why Media need to be Publicly owned and operated. Not sensationalist tabloid news or serving special interest capitalist group that report based on Capitalist views and values.
What you read, listen to and see are all controlled information shaping your opinion. You can forget about getting unbiased, objective news reporting via private owner.
Government owned Media at least will report facts with out sensationalizing it. Their role is to keep the government and public informed.
Privately owned Media have to make profit. Push the owners point of view and have private agenda.

Even in cases of well off people who happily & legally migrate to the West, it's also indirectly the result of modern colonization. For instance, the world celebrate architect Zaha Hadid who designs include Beijing Leeza Soho shopping complex. Her native Iraq was ruined by the Anglo American/ Australian troops, migrating to the UK where she studied, worked was a better option than living in Iraq.
Top talent migrants became celebrities. Bottom illegal migrants became modern slaves.

Those companies will then in-turn put pressure on Washington to change course. Alternatively, bring in the WTO to arbitrate this dispute and investigate whether US concerns over human rights are valid. We all know that the US doesn't have a leg to stand on.

First, I have come to conclude that evil is real. It is not the figment of the imagination of a primitive religious mind feebly attempting to explain the unknown. There really are people, and institutions made up of people, who respond with hatred in the presence of goodness and would destroy the good insofar as it is in their power to do so. They do this not with conscious malice but blindly, lacking awareness of their own evil - indeed, seeking to avoid any such awareness. As has been described of the devil in religious literature, they hate the light and instinctively will do anything to avoid it, including attempting to extinguish it. They will destroy the light in their own children and in all other beings subject to their power.
#EvilpeopleHATEtheLIGHT because it REVEALS THEMselves to themselves. They hate goodness because it reveals their badness; they HATE LOVE (health/life to the full) because it #REVEALStheirLAZINESS. They will destroy the light, the goodness, the love in order to AVOID the PAIN of such SELF-AWARENESS.
My second conclusion, then, is that evil is 😨 #laziness carried to its ultimate, extraordinary extreme. As I have defined it, love is the antithesis of laziness. Ordinary laziness is a passive failure to love. Some ordinarily lazy people may not lift a finger to extend themselves unless they are compelled to do so. Their being is a manifestation of no love; still, they are not evil. Truly evil people, on the other hand, #ACTIVELY RATHER than passively #avoidExtendingTHEMSELVES (#TheEmperorsClub). They will take any action in their power to protect their own laziness, to preserve the integrity of their sick self #falseSelf. Rather than nurturing others, they will actually #destroyOthers in this cause. If necessary, they will even #KILLtoESCAPE their PAIN of their own SPIRITUAL GROWTH. As the integrity of their sick self is threatened by the spiritual health of those around them, they will seek by all manner of means to crush and demolish the spiritual health that may exist near them. We define evil, then, as the #exercise of #politicalPower - that is, the imposition of ONE'S WILL UPON OTHERS by #OVERT or #covert coercion - in order to avoid extending one's self for the purpose of nurturing spiritual growth. Ordinary laziness is no love; evil is antilove.
My third conclusion is that the existence of evil is inevitable, at least at this stage in human evolution. Given the force of #entropy and the fact that humans possess free will, it is inevitable that laziness will be well contained in some and completely uncontained in others.
As entropy, on the one hand, and the evolutionary FLOW of LOVE, on the other, are opposing forces, it is only natural that these forces will be relatively in balance in most people, while a few at one extreme will manifest almost pure love, and a few at the other extreme pure entropy or evil. Since they are CONFLICTING forces, it is also inevitable that those at the extremes will be LOCKED in COMBAT; it is as natural for evil to hate goodness as it is for goodness to hate evil.
Last, I have come to conclude that while entropy is an enormous force, in its most #extremeformofHUMANevil (#wetiko) it is strangely ineffective as a social force. I myself have witnessed evil in action, viciously attacking and effectively destroying the spirits and minds of dozens of children. But evil backfires in the big picture of human evolution. For every soul it destroys and there are many - it is INSTRUMENTAL in the #SALVATIONofOthers.
Unwittingly, evil SERVES as a BEACON to WARN OTHERS AWAY from its own shoals. Because most of us have been graced by an almost instinctive sense of horror at the outrageousness of evil, when we recognize its presence, our own personalities are honed by the awareness of its existence. Our CONSCIOUSNESS of it is a signal to purify ourselves. It was evil, for instance, that raised Christ to the cross, thereby enabling us to see him from afar. Our personal involvement in the fight against evil in the world is one of the ways we grow. - The Road Less Travelled, #scottPeck

Xinjiang will be an economically vibrant province of China and central Asia in coming decades as it has an immense resources and support from central government. Any amount of demonization of Uyghurs in Xinjiang via forced labour will be futile and without success.👍👍

From 2007 China from $7trillions wealth to now $120 trillions , America wealths $50trillions . Yes Americans are still having more money per capital than China because America population is 320m only. Western democracy, it means individualism, if you are down your luck, sick and lost your jobs and on the street homeless, you are only your own, their government doesn't have to help them.

Abolishing chattel slavery was a boon to landowners. It meant that they could still extract labour from African -slaves- _sharecroppers_ while pushing the cost of their upkeep onto them. Also, as the landowners had no remaining fiduciary interest in keeping those people alive, working them to death or even l**ching them -- as an example to others, or to let oppressed white peasants blow off steam about their exploitation at the hands of the feudal landlord class -- became more prevalent.

The US has never stopped using forced labor as it kept slaves for 4 hundred years and had only stopped when there was no money to be made.
Its modern-day slaves come from both legal and illegal immigration. These people work at farms, fast food chains, warehouses, as domestic servants, gardeners, or at any jobs that Americans don’t want to take because employers refuse to offer a living wage.

Prison slavery is more prominent than forced farm labor. Why does she only mention that? It's allowed by the Constitution in Amendment 13. Since enacting Amendment 13 in 1865, police intentionally target Black and Brown people for arrest. Prosecutors over charge the arrested with crimes. Thus forcing plea bargaining often to crimes never committed. Once in prison, American businesses use the prisoners for their labor. Lawmakers have even gone so far as to make acts criminal so there can be arrests.

Cognitive bias, identical to the ostrich effect, causes people to avoid information that they perceive as potentially unpleasant.
That perhaps explain why the western mainstream media, by design, had deprived their audience of China’s profound transformation - the superior quality of life, the standard of health, comfort, and happiness enjoy by the Chinese people.
The mere fact that the West in general, and Washington in particular, are so scared and envious of China speaks volumes.
Hence, to report the truth would be a bad idea, as their citizens would then realise that they’ve indeed been shortchanged by their governments.
