Pearl really knew how to work her "magic"... so genuine, so natural. Andy is having the time of his life. I once read where her co-stars in any performance, never knew what she was gonna hit 'em with. She was so spontaneous and impromptu, giving them a joyous nervousness that they just laughed their way through. Pearl could take a scene to heights they hadn't imagined! She didn't need rehearsal...she was rehearsal's MAMA! Now that's what being a DIVA truly is!
Everyone loved Pearl Bailey. She was so magnificent, as was all of those women from that era, who possessed that natural warmth and down-home, folksy appeal that was reflected in everything they did whether it was show business or not. I miss them all.
Pure television paradise. I get such a kick out of the fun Pearl is having with Andy - trying to get him to "relax". You just fall in love with these two. And let's not forget this spectacular musical arrangement.
I weep for the lack of fab entertainment like this today! Viva Andy Williams and his variety show magic! And Miss Pearlie, she's a gem indeed...thanks for sharing!
It has only gotten worse now in January of 2025. Thank God for Yutube and videotape. All the great ones can still live on as generations following can experience their talents.
I love this, thanks for posting, have always loved Andy Williams - never saw this one with him and Pearl Bailey, this is just adorable, two of the great singers, and this is real ENTERTAINMENT! We do not have things like this any more, just junk. All the greats are gone.
Everything about Pearl Bailey was star quality. I love how she engaged the crowd & those she performed alongside with jokes and commentary in between singing the lyrics
Pearl...classy, elegant, gifted, and real downhome natural...all rolled in one. Miss her presence. No one's like that nowadays. Andy is just enjoying it all!
PURE CLASS!!!! look at that dress on ms. pearl classy!!!!!! no one entertains with class anymore and the few who do, well good luck finding them. great era, the best!!!
Andy was fine but Pearl Bailey makes everyone look good. She had so many gifts and used them so well. Sorry if name icon comes up 2x. Some sort of computer glitch.
I must say...I'm a singer but I wish I could go back to these days when it seemed they had more fun, more creative freedom AND they didn't take themselves SO seriously. Everything seemed like a wonderful Jam session.
Pearl Bailey was sooo good to watch..so much fun..so much talent... This clip with Andy Williams shows a bit o her immense talent and wit. As well as his.... A precious post. Tks.
Whew! What a great combo! Pearl has a very strong voice and with Andy´s soft voice they match perfectly in this song =) Thank you for another high-quality video! ADded to favourites :) Thanks again!

2 of my favorite entertainers, and my very favorite clip. They are so at ease here. I'm so glad I get to watch this over and over! Thanks for posting!!
Queen Latifah is aging out of a biographical film of the young Pearl Bailey, but I'd like to see a film concentrating on Bailey’s marriage to her Italian-American drummer husband and her years studying Theology at Georgetown.
Anyone else think that Queen Latifah should play her in a bio-film?
Without question.
She'd need to lose about 80 pounds to play Bailey during this era of her life.
Surely at any point.
omg I was thinking the same thing.
ummmmm, YES!!!!!!!!!

2:40 when Andy hits that note before he stands up, Pearl looks at him as if to say, "Man! Where did THAT come from?!"
