- These sounds were made using the new tone() function, and using a list of the z coordinates.
Here is the graph with all of the equations: www.desmos.com/3d/1d9862c819

update: welp I did it, you can look in my community posts
If this video gets 2000 likes, throw two eggs at your fridge

If this video gets 10000 likes, throw 10 eggs at your fridge
It is your choice.
do it
The 2d ones sounded like something you'd hear on an old numbers station. The 3d ones sound like those sound recordings of planets.
The "recordings" of planets were probably achieved in a similar way, since it's also based on, and synthesized from a bunch data, and not actual recorded audio.
@@KimStennabbCaesar actually nasa achieved the recordings by converting the radiation of the planets that a satellite got into an audio
@@72fan Yes. So they got a bunch of data and then synthesized audio from it
These sound like something you'd hear in an old surreal spooky game with aliens
Earthbound lol

Like an analog horror.
Literally signal simulator.
ah, yes. 3D mathematical horrors beyond my expertise and comprehension
the best part is that they all sound like one of those mysterious underwater deep ocean sounds

10 to the power of 5 is... Hillary Clinton? no actually I think the right answer might be a muffin
that doesn't sound so cursed compared to the 2D Desmos sounds.... in fact it sounded so calming :)
lol maybe i should make a series called "calming desmos sounds"
if you consider this calming, you should get an SDR and listen to stuff around 450MHz
nah this sounds way more cursed

goofy ahh sound
Thinking of making it my ringtone…

This scratched my brain D E E P
1:41: This is how dubstep was created
Very interesting, sounds so much better than the 2d sounds. I like how the 3d audio doesn't have the unbearable ear shifting as it goes to the other side
3:34 also this one is my favorite
Yes
Sounds like the Windows 7 Startup sound in G Major and the Windows NT 5.0 Startup Sound combined
i love that there are many ways to interpret this problem. another would be to take the 2d slice as a single wave cycle and repeat that over and over as the slice moves.
That’s what I was hoping it would be, but instead I suppose it combines all pitches by all the z values in the given slice?
sin(x)/sin(y) is literally just "wow wow wow wow"
even the captioning agrees

Wait, if mutiple sounds are possible now, can you make a song in there?
I hope someone makes a rickroll
You were always able to make a song…
@@thenewboeguy_officialNo chords
@thenewboeguy_official i think what he meant was chords, which wasn't possible until now
Love additive synthesis. Great job. Sounds excellent. Wonder if you can make complex sounds by choosing in which ways different zones modulate each other. Create operators out of different regions and their values and have some be modulators and some be sound engines. Then you’d have a really freaky FM synthesis graph thing that you can use math functions to generate FM synthesis clips with.
Them: “So what kind of music do you listen to?”
Me: “It’s, uhhh.. It’s complicated.. 😅”
0:48 the graph is breathing
either that, or that is its heartbeat
Now we can recreate the THX Deep Note sound effect using Desmos.
Someone has actually done that already lol th-cam.com/video/4-N0My-EqwE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QWIHVX9zHkZKNvAG
0:48 sounds like its saying "WOOW! WOOW! WOOW! WOOW!"
2:44 sounds like my brain processing something that someone said to me that i only paid attention halfway through
I'm liking what you did here. Nice exploring.
These sounds totally sound like math aliens.
Make a series with them.
these are the scariest sounds for no reason
It’d be crazy if this is how all those sci-fi sounds are made
OH MY GOD@Glub_blub
Old space movie soundtracks be like:
They all sound like we’re being invaded by aliens
yes
That last one made me expect a beat to drop in. This one has potential.
2:14 Now that is giving off Star Fox vibes 👾
x = mod(sin y , cos z) gives a nice looking gem when its a flat surface, z at bottom and y on the side
When do people learn all of these graph stuff in math? I never knew this type of stuff existed…
you generally learn 2d graphing in high school, except 3d graphing on the other hand isn't taught as much
Are you working on any music project with this kind of site ?
I have done 2 songs on the 2d version in the past, I might do another one on this one though
2:01 this sounds like a old Bell from a house
Definitely adding this video to my folder of weird ass sound to sample.
Think I'll have a lot of fun with some of these on two of my pocket operators, 33 and 35.
why does this remind me of earthbound sounds
This sounds cool. Like a hard-working robot-thingie from generic 60s fiction.

EDIT: 3:33 Pasta (that's not a show, just pasta)
All of these sound like they came straight outta star wars
This looks a lot like the wave tables of a VST called Serum
the way i love it in shape but not in sounds because its giving me over 5 nightmares

2:44 and 3:34 sound like Earthbound ambient sfx (well, technically all of them do but these two especially)
Beautiful.

Me trying to remain enthusiastic
Hey I would like to see this video with the sound plane moving in the perpendicular direction instead, I feel like that would create some very interesting sounds
You know this genuinely helped me understand 3d maths
i would love to hear how it sound when the playing plane comes from different angles

time for some better desmos music!
Am I the only one who gets 70s-80s vibes from this? Reminds me of old sci-fi shows like Doctor Who, and also Earthbound.
Apparently a lot of people think it sounds like earthbound
this is what dial-up internet sounds like in an alternate universe
There are great for listening to before sleep.
cant wait for 4d sounds
This could be sampled for experimental ambient music.
2:50 every sorting algorithm ever
2:44 sounds like some kind of transmissions buffer audio going on
Some of these sounds would be great for sci-fi games
This shit would've made me so interested in math as a kid
so this is how i learn that desmos has 3d now
These sound like earthbound attack sounds 💀
Congrats you made wavetables…

These sounds are way more cursed than 2D. Like, these sound like something I’m not supposed to hear. The 2D ones just sounded like beeps. Like morsecode or those emergency alerts on TV.
A choir -- just as expected
Alr, If you're doing another one of those suggestion things again. Here is of my suggestions on the 2D calculator:
Red: Cos(floor(5x))
Blue: Cos(ceil(5x))
Sounds pretty cool tbh
Yeah sounds pretty cool, Hopefully I’ll remember to do that
Reminds me of sorting algorithm noises but not worn out
i'd like to see someone use these in a boss fight theme
This makes me want the THX logo in desmos
Ah yes planet sounds.
Some of these sound like early doctor who sounds. Very bbc radiophonics workshop.
