    I almost always feel the same about money, I don't need that much for the type of lifestyle that makes me happy, but at the same time because of societal pressures I feel like I should be on the property ladder and have lots of money, just in case or because it is important for other people.

      I agree the pressure is always there, I especially felt it with going on the property ladder but I actually don’t mind renting/living in a flat even though I know most people say rent is a waste 😅

    The concept of a "dream job" was always very strange to me. As a kid I always thought to myself that the goal was to not have a job and just to have fun. As an adult I know that having a job is necessary (at least temporarily) to live in society but the goals that I had as a kid somewhat remained the same, to not work and enjoy life. As you mentioned, having a career or a job that identifies someone also makes no sense to me because I see it as a vehicle to get you to your end goals, whether its survival, happiness, fulfillment, ect or in my case financial freedom/independence. Im glad to hear about your career change and good luck!

      Yes exactly Ken, it’s so nice to hear your thoughts on this and I think it’s great that you see so much beyond having a job :) thank you so much for watching and for your good wishes 🤗

      I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks this- a rare perspective I have been searching for lol. I am unable to fathom why more people do not understand this.

    Totally relate to this! When I was growing up I was also recognised and validated by my academic achievements and good grades. I had unknowingly reduced my self-worth to a mere number on a piece of paper. I had wanted to become a Psychologist (my "dream job") but eventually, I found a new career path I wanted to pursue, and I went for it. This took me a while since there were lots of obstacles on my way, including finances and unemployment. During these challenges, I grew a lot mentally and emotionally and realised that social status doesn't mean anything if you're not fulfilled by what you do for a living, and I stopped associating my self-worth with a number (good grades) and other things on the external such as money, material things, career, etc. I work so hard to love myself and be happy with or without any of these things. I also no longer measure my respect for people based on what they do for a living. I respect people based on their character and their actions towards me and others. I also love people who love themselves.

    I had to step down from a management position because it made my life miserable. It completely took over my life and I gave me so much anxiety. Now I work a part time 9-5 and using that free time to take better care of myself.

    I’ve worked in jobs where I dreaded waking up and going to work, I’ve worked in jobs that were ok most of the time and enjoyful on some days. I think the ladder one is the way to go. When your job drains you of all your energy that’s a red flag, but I also think that you can’t expect it to be fulfilling and amazing every day.

    Thankyou Akta! This embodies extremely well what I think. Everybody has been pushing me to go full time and the whole hustle culture is making me feel like the weird kid in class. Whenever I earn more for bonus / freelancing, my friend tell me I "finally god a big girl salary"... It's a difference stance to take, but it's the one that works for me.
    Thanks ♥

      @Akta  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for watching! You’re definitely not the weird kid, keep doing what feels good for you! Some of the people who I know who were “hustling” hard whilst I was part time now are looking for a better work life balance too! Everyone has different stages and times of realisation :)

    Congrats on your new role and career ❤ I do understand your sentiments regarding the fear though. I recently made a video addressing the whole 'I don't dream of labor' trend as well, tbh I do relate to a lot of the sentiments held by this movement mostly because I'm seeing this new side of corporate life/culture which has made it clear how much exploitation happens within those environments, however even being able to come out of that is a privilege in itself. You are so articulate and every video leaves me with a fresh mindset. Great video!!

    This remind me of my life. I worked so hard to work for a US congressman and also go to work in my State government legislature. I hate those jobs so much. Now I have this position for a bank in a “high position”. I just started my own video business. I hope to go full time with this in the future.

    Totally agree that jobs shouldn't be the only thing defining us. If I won a lottery, though, I'd still work. Maybe not full time but I'd still want to be up-to-date with my field of work. Taking a break from work would kinda just make my brain rusty lol unless I continue learning in other ways. Great video! :)

    • @Akta
      @Akta  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s so interesting :) I think I’d always continue learning through reading and talking to people but feel more free in what I wanted to learn :)

      @Akta  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Julissa! Yes I agree, i guess with different generations it can be more difficult because of what our parents grew up around/their circumstances being different. I found when I was more open with my parents they began to understand things from my POV more :)

    Someone once told me your dream job is the one that allows you to do what you need to do with little interference whether that be on your own or as part of a team

    • @Akta
      @Akta  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually like that idea Mark! I think for me a dream job is also about lifestyle rather than money eg the ability to work from home right now for me is like a dream because I never thought I’d get to

    Not having a dream job should be a trend (just like how having no friends is a trend lol) since the world of work is changing constantly. The cost of living has been going up, so I think people would feel forced to work full time and stay in jobs that are not considered their dream job.

    • @Akta
