You can’t just be deserving; you have to be worthy! But all you have ever been is a bloody migraine!” (Arthur Watts)_ -Aftermath When Oscar released the power of his cane, I was not expecting that. He sees Jaune as a friend and was quite distressed upon seeing his possible death. But that had been his mentality since the beginning of the Volume. Much like all of his predecessors… _”Like-minded souls indeed…”(Salem)_ Seeing the citizens of Atlas cramped together shows that in this conflict, they are (slightly) no better off than those at Mantle. Probably even more so since they were more sheltered than many others in the rest of Remnant so they are more prone to fear, which, in turn, will attract the Grimm. The battle as subsided at least for now, but this would definitely have an impact on their lifestyle from now on, very contrary to the mindset that was shared by the socialite on Volume 4 regarding Vale. _“If they’re so arrogant that they can get by without proper kingdom defenses, then I’d say good riddance.”_ With a quote from Qrow (Volume 3) to rebuttal… _”You think their scared of your little ships?! I’ve been out there and I’ve seen the things she’s made, and let me tell you. They are Fear.”_
-Rebuke This scene was quite the turnaround. What started as Cinder being an unstable volatile threat turned in her being broken and defeated enough to shed tears (honestly, I didn’t think she was capable of that anymore). This actually shows how different her persona was before and after the Fall of Beacon. Before, she was more cunning and strategic, from planning on how to attacking Amber to setting up the Fall of Beacon through use of the hack on Atlas as well as utilizing the White Fang. But after she received the full power of the Fall Maiden, she simply opted to obtain more through use of force. _“Working with bandits? Keeping Ruby alive? What’s the point? We’re strong enough to take what we want by force.”_ As much as you may not like this guy, Watts is definitely the MVP of this episode, replacing his fear of being dropped out to the ground into his irritation of Cinder’s actions, visible shown when he dropped his hands to rant at her. Funnily enough, this is quite similar to the conversation/training between Tai and Yang on Volume 4 _“But you gotta keep your emotions in check. Keep a level head, and think before you act.”_ Watts must have been surprised that Cinder didn’t drop him and instead opted to pull him back into to roof and quietly walk away and sit down (he would have had a heart-attack if he saw her crying). I’m writing this, and that moment still has me stumped. I guess talk no jutsu really does work… Now the question is, how is she going to deal with the situation now that Salem is out for the moment and Neo has the Relic?
-Corrupted General _“I will sacrifice whatever it takes to stop her.”_ _“Oh, I hope you do, James. I hope you do.”_ What Ironwood didn’t realize was that sacrifice would include his own sanity. The honest truth is that Ironwood is obsessed with having any sort of leverage. Even after his error regarding Roman Torchwick, he is still focused on having that, on having control, mainly due to the fear of losing it after what Salem did to his army at the Fall of Beacon. Ironwood’s psyche drops further and further into the abyss due to his mounting frustration on the war, so hearing that Cinder had broken into the prison to get Watts didn’t exactly help. Although it seemed odd for him to specifically target Qrow (at least, not at this point) for recapture. Giving that Qrow didn’t resist arrest, there was no real reason to think that he would be a threat. But I’d imagine that Ironwood was worried that Qrow would seek out Ruby and likely he’d find out what he was doing before the battle and then react accordingly. After the whale Grimm was defeated, one would think that would be, at the very least, a moment of respite, especially considering that a few moments before, Atlas was under siege from Salem and the Grimm. Even more, he would want to wonder what destroyed the whale Grimm if it wasn’t the bomb. But he brushed past that just to focus on his current plan; getting Penny to open the vault in order to move Atlas away before Salem revives. And because he has yet to determine Penny’s status, he assumes that she is still with her friends (which they were, but not the way he thinks). So he goes by that by using her friends as leverages to bring her to him. Which they no longer have because of Winter… I think that moment there is where he truly lost his mind. Hearing what Winter had was likely the last straw (or close to it) because now he will believe that even his closest soldier had betrayed him (Seriously Harriet, are you trying to be more disliked by everyone?). I was actually worried that he would strike her down or something similarly physical (like what he did to the table), but the fact that he didn’t was probably worse. He could very likely use her as a pawn to pressure Weiss to find Penny. And then it gets worse. Destroying the aid that could have saved Mantle is insane. The entire conflict with Ironwood and RWBY was solely on the fact of saving Mantle and Atlas. With Mantle being saved, it would have made things go a lot better, as civilian casualties of another battle would have been minimized. Furthermore, if Mantle is rescued, then there would be no reason for Penny _not_ open the vault and move Atlas to safety as well. But instead, he destroyed Mantle’s best chance of survival just to use them as leverage. Even worse, it appears he wanted Mantle destroyed one way or another. If his demand was met, Mantle would be left to die, either by the Grimm or by the temperature. If not, he would destroy Mantle, if anything, out of spite. There is a chance that he could be bluffing, but he does not seem to be the type. He had said repeatedly that he doesn’t care about his reputation, so he has little restraint not to. All he cares about is getting Penny under _his_ control. Ultimately, it is as Oscar had warned him (before he shot him). _“Then you just as dangerous as she is, James.”_
Honestly reactions were spot on. Still that touching reunion is hard to get past. The intimacy in the stare and the fact that of the hugs,of the closeness, it was saved for the very end and there is no longer that awkwardness from volume 7 but we are moving to a more mature thing with these two. I really wish there were more moments till now but maybe moving forward and to the end we'll get something else. For now looking forward...optimistically. Bumbleby for the win.

I don't think Qrow has the same physical abilities in bird form, I believe he was in mid transformation as he decked that guard making his mass that much greater.
so glad Watts put Cinder in her place. she think she's such a badass, but all she's ever done is screwed up at every turn. tough love at its finest, kids!
@@KitsyX not that badly? She recently fought Penny on Amity, and had Neo and Emerald as back. AND STILL LOST!! Penny literally knocked her ass out. It's a pity Watts didnt bring that one up. I would have jumped outta my seat.😂😂😂😂
I just realised why does Richard have bones, the only other Grimm we've seen with bones is the hound. WHY DOES RICHARD HAVE BONES!!!!!! WHHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!??????
Monstra (aka "Richard") was probably not entirely a creature of Grimm...she may have been a real whale before Salem modified her...and something that big would need an internal structure to support its' great weight. Just theorizing here! (;]D,
He's bigger and needs the structural support lol I dunno... To be fair though, we have seen bone-like bits on some Grimm, so it's not entirely out of nowhere... It's also possible that he was many Grimm fused together, so maybe they were connected to those... I expect it was just for imagery though.
It does make good imagery just thought with the only known flesh to Grimm conversion being silver eyed it was a bit of a crack question. Looks cool like.
I think Amity was descending, but I'm not sure how much... I wouldn't be surprised if they show up again before the end, but maybe we won't see them again until next volume.
I think that they're probably in that awkward place where they are both into each other, but they're both still too scared or unsure to tell the other yet... Like they may not have come out to each other, let alone anyone else... They may not even realise that they feel that way yet as it blurs into their friendship... I hope they aren't together yet, because I'd like to see the moment it happens... That sounds potentially dirty, but I mean the moment the feelings come out, even without physical acts... Not that I'd complain about physical acts, but emotion over physical lol. I was unsure about Blake being into Yang that way, but I'm more convinced that she might be now... I haven't seen the newest episode yet though... Part of me really wants Blake to be oblivious and not have thought about it though lol Have Yang be another Ilia... But that would also be a shame because Yang and Blake do make a cute couple... I dunno... I guess they could do both.
So, everyone is viewing ironwood as the villain, and yes nuking mantle would be bad, but I feel keep forgetting why he's doing all this. He's terrified of Salem and believes this is a no win situation, he wants to minimize the risk, and just take atlas and the staff high up into the sky away from Salem to replan, but that leaves mantle behind. Team rwby wants to try and Dave everyone no matter the risk even if loss means Salem kills them all and gets the staff. One side is willing to risk the fate if the entire world to save a city, one is willing to kill anyone and let anyone die that he has to, to guarantee Salem doesn't get the relic and he saves as many as he can while doing that. And the threat of nuking mantle, is currently his best chance of getting team rwby and penny to do as he says, but he will keep his threats if they don't cooperate. Ngl, if irl some magic space witch came down and was trying to destroy the world, and there was like an 80% chance if the world ending if I didn't nuke a small city? I'd likely nuke the city
It doesn't take balls to talk to Cinder like that. She was posturing. Desperately trying to exert authority she didn't have. Cinder is too incompetent to accomplish anything on her own. So either she drops Watts and he goes out with the satisfaction of knowing she'll screw the whole thing up and Salem will kill her, or she puts him down because she needs him to do all the things that she's not smart enough to. There's a reason nobody in Salem's inner circle respects her. Or is even afraid of her.
The nails with colour...it kind of softened her character a bit. Emerald has, well, been a villianess/ henchman for a long time, and has assisted in doing many heinous acts. The brief scene where Cinder recruits Emerald as a young, living-on-the-streets-as-a-thief teenage girl has been many Volumes and Chapters ago now. We will see if, and how far, she can come back from the darkness.
@@johnnygnoneeded I mean, she was dedicated to Cinder more than anything else and still showed concern for what they were doing... I don't think she ever did anything that evil directly... I mean she helped take out Tucson, but other than that... She certainly wasn't anywhere near as bad as Vegeta lol.
@@KitsyX The attempted murder of Autumn and helping in stealing the Fall Maiden powers, killing Tucson, causing the death of Penny 1.0 and setting up Pyrrha. Helping in causing the Fall of Beacon with all those student, soldier and civilian deaths. Yep, pretty much a War Criminal, and only the CRWBY writers know what murder and mayhem Emerald has taken part in off camera. Go back to Tucson's murder...and the scene with Roman and Cinder afterwards. No remorse, just joking with Mercury. The only thing Emerald was sorry about was making Cinder mad. Emerald's like the street kid that gets sucked into and seduced by the gang banging thug life...and like some, she may never find her way back out. :`(
I mean he's not necessarily entirely logically wrong and doesn't strictly want to do it... But he's definitely turning into a monster if he isn't one already... Thinking about his plan to raise Atlas more, I'm more convinced that it's not a good long term strategy either... I mean even if they're out of reach of normal Grimm, if Salem is allowed to take over in their absence, it's only a matter of time. I mean... Think about it... Even if the staff has no limit on how high they can go, they need the dust shield and maybe other systems to keep the place liveable... If they go too far, the dust stops working right? Therefore they should always be in range of things using dust to move... Then all they need to do is wreck one shield generator and possibly pretty much everyone dies and they can't farm for food... We don't know if Grimm need to breathe do we? Salem could probably survive there... And if Salem has taken Vacuo, maybe she'd have the sword of destruction... Who knows what the range of that is? I think Amity and uniting the people was their best bet so far.
I wondered at first why Ironwood didn't take immediate action against Winter-- arrest her, shoot her-- but then I realized that, in his mind, the threat to nuke Mantle is a 'better option', and dealing with Winter's 'bad decision' could wait for another time. Problem is, Jimmy-boy, is that I think you're running out of time...and compliant minions....
There is no way Ironwood will work for her. He might be going off the deep end, but in his mind, he's still the hero, doing what he can to stop Salem. He's going MUCH TOO FAR, but he's still a """""good guy""""".
You have to let it build. That being said, I definitely expected Yang to kiss Blake in that scene. There was just so much romantic tension from that first touch.
I feel like people are too quick to act aggressively against Ironwood. Yes, his actions are extreme but you need to consider where he's coming from. He's probably spent his life, military career, even his headmaster position trying to protect Atlas from the Grimm and then the Staff of Creation from Salem once he was let in on her existence, likely being groomed by Oz. Hell, even Qrow knew that he had some "unfortunate tendencies", possibly as a result of his militaristic upbringing, being stern and resolute once he had his mind set on something. He tried being kind, lowering his guard to RWBY and crew, and they repaid him with lies and deceit, kept trying to push for certain things to happen that, with their resources depleted, likely couldn't happen in time, and then fought against him when he was being realistic in trying to save who he could (we can assume he didn't consider the SDC ships to carry civilians much like how it took the Schnees until literally two episodes ago to realize that same thing). All of that lead to him finally snapping and locking into a set path. I will agree that him blowing up the cargo ships was a dumbass move, but considering Salem is still up on Atlas, they'd just be taking more civilians to her, and yes, you can argue that our main characters were being cautious as well, but think about this: had they told him what they knew when they first arrived, do you think he still would've ended up this way, or do you think he would've tried to do everything he could to protect as many people as possible with the resources that they still had before the invasion began? I'm not gonna bluster on about "protagonist mentality" because that's been done to death already, but people really seem blind to the possibility that this is hurting him deeply that things are going the way they are, but he'll carry on the way he always has because he wants to get what he can done. Also the whole getting angry at Harriet for outing Winter thing. They're soldiers, not a group of friends. Harriet doesn't owe her anything. Considering Ironwood didn't snap and kill her like how he killed Councilman Sleet, she got off easy. Sorry if this was long, it's been sitting in my mind for a while and I needed to get it out somewhere. I do love this show, even if it's not great at times, but people do be thinking everything is black and white.
Kind of agree. Ironwood was sort of being a well-intentioned extremist. With Mantle under threat of a bomb, I don't know if he has well intentions anymore.
So much time could have been saved if they hadn't lied to Ironwood and he wouldn't have had to order their arrest giving them clout to use to steer him away from his more extreme ideas.
@@blackvial Tell the truth so he could abandon Remnant faster. Seriously, this is the guy who brought an army to a festival celebrating peace because he seriously believed he could thwart Salem and win the day with brute strength. People call Ruby childish and naive but Ironwood’s been living a fantasy probably ever since he even heard about Salem, a fantasy where he leads his Kingdom to victory and saves the world. What did people think he was going to do when Ruby shattered his delusions of grandeur? The man gave up, and now he is living a different fantasy, if he can’t save all of humanity, he’ll preserve only what he thinks is the best of it, Atlas, and leave the rest to die. Doesn’t matter if this delusion is anymore feasible than the last one, his saviour complex demands he hold some victory over Salem. There’s a reason why Ruby’s instincts told her to withhold the truth, in fact, I’d say her mistake is telling him the truth at all, just because he made one right decision when everyone had backed him into a corner didn’t mean he had actually changed. Look how quickly he fell back on old habits because of a chess piece. Of course, because he is a moron he didn’t even stop long enough to think if how he was reacting was exactly the way Cinder/Salem wanted him to, he just came up with the first dumb plan to pop into his head and put it into motion without thinking of any of the consequences for his actions. Without even considering the fact that Atlas, for all its supposed advancements and luxuries, actually relies on Mantle to sustain itself. If Mantle dies, Atlas follows, thats the reality. This is not a show about victory through strength, or extreme sacrifices, this is a show about victory through unity and perseverance. Ironwood was always going to be on the losing side because he never trusted anyone as much as or more than himself, he placed himself on a pedestal above everyone else, looked down on them, and demanded them to fall in line. His unwillingness to actually work with others is why every single one of his plans to date have failed miserably, and some of his ideas (the embargo, the border closures) were so terrible but he didn’t have anyone better than Jacques Schnee around to tell him straight to his face that his ideas were terrible.
@@BlueButterfly015 you don't know he would have done that. The only reason he chose to cut and run was because Salem was on her way, little did he know she was almost there with her flying fortress Grimm.
I was kind of hoping that Emerald can see how the protagonist crowd interacts, and compare it to how Cinder treated her the past few volumes and re-define her concept of friendship, turning on Cinder. Leaving Cinder feeling even more alone, losing the one person she assumed would always be there because she was so taken for granted... which would send her deeper down her own personal dark path and what looks like what could possibly be a self-reflection.

Funnily enough, this is quite similar to the conversation/training between Tai and Yang on Volume 4
_“But you gotta keep your emotions in check. Keep a level head, and think before you act.”_
Watts must have been surprised that Cinder didn’t drop him and instead opted to pull him back into to roof and quietly walk away and sit down (he would have had a heart-attack if he saw her crying). I’m writing this, and that moment still has me stumped.
I guess talk no jutsu really does work…
Now the question is, how is she going to deal with the situation now that Salem is out for the moment and Neo has the Relic?
-Corrupted General
_“I will sacrifice whatever it takes to stop her.”_
_“Oh, I hope you do, James. I hope you do.”_
What Ironwood didn’t realize was that sacrifice would include his own sanity.
Which they no longer have because of Winter…
I think that moment there is where he truly lost his mind.
Finally someone gives the CRWBY the praise they deserve

If Ceni ever does a cosplay on Neo, she will need a lamp relic. That's it. That's the tweet.

Fuck him. Fuck him to hell.
Gotta love the Beeunion though.
I don't think Qrow has the same physical abilities in bird form, I believe he was in mid transformation as he decked that guard making his mass that much greater.
So he pulled an Ant Man?
I'm only watching this for the Cinder roast

RIP-chard.
so glad Watts put Cinder in her place. she think she's such a badass, but all she's ever done is screwed up at every turn. tough love at its finest, kids!
I mean she hasn't necessarily done that badly considering what she was dealing with, but she has made a bunch of bad decisions too.
@@KitsyX not that badly? She recently fought Penny on Amity, and had Neo and Emerald as back. AND STILL LOST!! Penny literally knocked her ass out. It's a pity Watts didnt bring that one up. I would have jumped outta my seat.😂😂😂😂
@@kickstand801More humiliating for Neo. She actually struggled to beat up a little old lady.

YES. FINALLY.
Watts ripped cinder a new one
Watts: - Talk no jutsu
Where are Maria and Pietro? We haven't seen them since chapter 5
they where at the tower, it's not have been that much time since the broadcast so they are probably still there
Still on Amity with no real way off.
I think Amity was descending, but I'm not sure how much... I wouldn't be surprised if they show up again before the end, but maybe we won't see them again until next volume.
Just what i need after such a bad week
Do y'all think that Yang & Blake are already dating? Because that would be awesome.
(Maybe they haven't come out to their friends & family yet.)
I don't think they are, but I DO know rhat romance is blooming!😍
@@KitsyX I agree. I would love to see them come out to each other, confessing their feelings. And then come out to their friends & family.
@@davidkoudelka10 Awesome.
Here's hoping this is what it takes to make Cinder become a competent villain once again.
If anyone doesn't know, migraine is a name for a type of headache
YOU GUYS STAN BLACKPINK? holy shit, i like you guys even more.
Did anybody else get slightly freaked out that Emerald had finger nails?
What's so odd about that?
@@faisalk403 i just went back to see if they have always been their all along and they were? i must have never noticed until now!
RIP Richard
Some people are trying to justify Ironwood lmao.
How is SPOILERS:
LAST CHANCE!!!! DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU
How is bombing an ENTIRE CITY JUSTIFIABLE!?
F for Richard
I think ironwood will lose it completely and Salem will recruit him sense she lost hazel and emerald
There is no way Ironwood will work for her. He might be going off the deep end, but in his mind, he's still the hero, doing what he can to stop Salem. He's going MUCH TOO FAR, but he's still a """""good guy""""".
Ah...yes...he is a legend in his own mind! Ironwood is full on Hitler in the last days in the bunker DELUSIONAL! 0_o
I mean you never know... I don't think so, but if he truly loses everything... Maybe... I don't think it's super likely though.
Awesome and cool😀.

Absolutely fair. Part of me wonders if he actually would go through with it or if it's just a bluff.

I hope that Cinder/Emerald becomes canon.

@@rufusmorris3114 So far, the plot device is that Oscar and Ozpin have a conversation in Oscar's mind, and either one can take control of Oscar's body...but Ozpin can take over when he needs to or wants to, so Oscar's not in total control, unless Ozpin retreats like he did after the Jinn revelation.
