    My dog is probably going to slam it as soon as I make that quick movement into her chest but I'm gonna try it when I get home lol. I'll just out her and start over without playing the game. Hopefully she catches on after a couple commercials. Thanks for all the great content.

      You’re welcome!
      Start with food in a closed hand and the dog cannot access the food until they’re down and focused. If they can’t wait for the food, the tug will be setting them up for failure. Build this slowly step by step and avoid trying to accomplish the finished product in one session. Me and Fred have been working on this for months 🙏🏼

    I love the level of energy of you and your dog. Is it possible to get that energy and response with a Labradoodle? I have a 9 month old labradoodle with whom I would love to have that interaction and energetic activity with. He doesn't have any drive for anything and does everything pretty slow. I would love to have him respond quickly and sharply to the commands. Can I get that from a non driven/motivated dog? Thanks for your videos.

    My 12 month GSD is fast with all commands when I bring her tug toy, ball, or food. After 5 minutes she looses focus and starts sniffing the ground or looks around and then she slows down. At home she's quick all the time. Should I keep my play session outside short 5 minutes then put her away and increase the time little by little? Great video, deep down all lethal dogs are little rascals.

    • @GusI727
      @GusI727 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Curious to hear the answer to this. I’ve been told to correct or redirect disengagement which hasn’t worked for me. I very well could not be doing it correctly. I try to stay ahead of my dog’s disengagement and if I sense a decline in output I end the game.

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’d be willing to bet that your play interactions and commands are very predictable to the dog. The dog is telling you they are not interested by checking out.
      I’d give ample time everyday to wonder, sniff, explore without any commands or intervention from you. This will allow the dog to get that out of their system. Then I’d start from scratch with my play interactions. Forget about commands and rules, just play! Do whatever the dog likes best. Let them dominate.
      Be more interesting and unpredictable!

    • @Mwyse414
      @Mwyse414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AndyKrueger it’s just the order that your using when giving the command. It appears to me that you are saying the command and giving the prompt (moving the tug) at the exact same time. Forward conditioning would mean command followed by the prompt. Curious how doing both the prompt and command at the same time would translate when you remove the prompt? Is the dog responding to the command or the prompt?

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mwyse414 I gotcha. I’ve heard people have different definitions.
      I am doing at the same time so as he’s hearing the command he’s also rocking back fast. There is no delay at all. Since he already knows the down command well, I don’t find it important to forward condition this exercise. It won’t need to translate because I will do a separate exercise where the tug is on the ground and I’m not holding it. This is purely for mechanics 👍🏻

    Brilliant as is your standard!!! Question: Do you have two out commands for your dogs? Jasper is “Out” and “Jasper”, and Freddy is “Out” and “Done”? If that is correct, do you use the two commands interchangeably or for different purposes? Thanks Andy!! I think Freddy is looking super fit, btw💪🏼

    • @AndyKrueger
      @AndyKrueger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I have a bunch of out commands! 😆
      I’m doing things a bit differently with Freddy than I did with Jasper, but they both have three out commands; Done, out and their name. With Jasper I only used Done for his retrieves, then used his name to mean let go of whatever is in his mouth. Then Out actually means guard and is only for the decoy.
      Freddy is trained Done means let go of his toy/ retrieve item, his name means let go of the decoy and Out means guard the decoy, whether he’s biting or not.
      May seem over complicated but it’s specifically designed to suit the rules of the French Ring program 🇫🇷
