Would love to hear this talented group do some Jimmie Lunceford tunes. Lunceford was the king of syncopation in the 1930's and 40's. My dad was a pickup reeds guy out of the Boston union. He said every big band travelled with Lunceford records that they played at the after parties. Just listened to ''For Dancers Only''. Never gets old, IMO.
I gotta see Ewan play in person. I'm new to the world of jazz, but he's gotta be one of the best clarinet players of this time. If anyone knows of any others, please let me know!
Loads of videos on TH-cam with his various bands, the latest being The Fleeting Paradise Orchestra. He also pops up from time to time with Tuba Skinny in New Orleans. (He is also a composer.)
Ewan is worldclass. Fully agree. You may want to check for 2 other talented clarinettists of the same world class. Aurelie Tropez from France and Lars Frank from Scandinavia (sorry I'm not sure which country).
Swinging hard!
Magnificent 🎉🫶🔝🎶

@michelebergeron405 Also great on sax.
Please don't get any better, Ewan. I'll have to throw my clarinet away!
Loved the music, hated the tattoos!
