Syncopation Society
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 15 ก.พ. 2018
The Syncopation Society is a music collective that identifies with a new movement focusing on early American music such as swing, hot jazz, and blues. We organise the “Are You Syncopated” festival, jam sessions, and concerts. We also produce content and release music with other partners and for clients.
We believe that jazz, and all music derived from blues, has its roots in, and is indeed the creation of, African-American culture. As musicians, we deeply feel the need to give recognition to the creators of the music we perform, the world they lived in, and the struggles they faced personally and professionally due to systemic racism.

Wow!!!
Terrific ensemble; nice arrangement and breaks!
Terrific band; great solos and arrangement!
Wonderful rendition which has me tapping my feet at 85 years.
A tad too fast and sloppy.
a rippa of a tune
whatta rippa of a tune
Nice one everyone, bloody good stuff.
No names, but someone needs to tidy themselves up.
Отлично!!!
Perfect!
Miss Banjo: I see that you've changed instruments from a Bacon & Day to a Vega! I play a 1927 Vega Artist! Which one do you prefer?
WOW! You beat me to it. I was going to make the exact same comment, because I also play an Artist Professional 1927 Vega Banjo! I also recognized the switch. I bought mine in early 2000s from “Players Vintage Instruments” run by Lowell Levinger (known as “Banana” from “The Youngbloods”). I was a lead player in San Francisco Banjo Band - many TH-cam videos. Her Vega has better volume & tone. - BanjoBob
Thats not the way they sat. My Grandfather and my great uncle were in that band.
Indeed, this was a pandemic session and we needed to have a bit of space between the players...
A little uneven on skill level among the group, but the overall sound was good.
CONGRATULATIONS !!! (for Claus Jacobi arrangements, for each musician's quality, great sound). GRÜSSE aus Elsass/Frankreich
So cool
🔥🔥🔥
Happy foot tapping music, great band clear sounds from each instrument, thank you for sharing, a joy to listen to.
Great music, a long tims since I've heard music like this
Please don't get any better, Ewan. I'll have to throw my clarinet away!
Keep up the good work!
Your are great!
Very enjoyable... Rosa Larsen
Does anyone know where the name of this song comes from? I've become a bit obsessed with this melody recently, but can't figure out why Erastus (the Biblical one?) is playing a kazoo. Regardless, this performance is wonderful!
It's a late-period minstrel (blackface) song. In that context old-fashioned or even archaic names like 'Erastus' (sometimes 'Rastus') were used to denote a stereotypical rural black man. Google the sheet music and you can see the racist cover art. I love this group and they did a great job. But there's a reason you don't hear bands in the U.S. play this number!
Wow more please
Excellent group; powerful tune! Love it!
Ragtime bänd...😊
Magnificent 🎉🫶🔝🎶
Mein Lieblingssong von eurer traumhaft schönen Jelly Roll Morten CD. 🎉🤩💖🎶🎺
Wonderful performance, perfectly recorded! The band's enjoyment makes a huge cotribution too!
trombone a bit down in the mix. love the band though! 🙂
You “Cats” should approach the Smithsonian and submit some of your recordings. This era (20’s-30’s) music must be preserved in history.
That is the cats pajamas!
23 Skido Man. That’s Hot!
Love to hear what you are doing now music wise. Neat voice😊
Tolle Band und klasse Stück!😊
Would love to hear this talented group do some Jimmie Lunceford tunes. Lunceford was the king of syncopation in the 1930's and 40's. My dad was a pickup reeds guy out of the Boston union. He said every big band travelled with Lunceford records that they played at the after parties. Just listened to ''For Dancers Only''. Never gets old, IMO.
This is one badddddddd tune 🤘🏻
Nice
excellent! great arrangement.
The clarinet is in my opinion the most underrated, common instrument there is.
That is NOT true.
I tend to agree. It’s greatly underrated.
Let your hair down a little, kids. It’s too stiff.
They represented the 1920s. very well.-
The dirty rotten vipers also make a awesome version of this
Loved the music, hated the tattoos!
Good stuff!
Great stuff..makes me think of the art deco era.
Great 1920s sound.
You guys nailed it! Spot on style, phrasing, look, the whole package. Thanks for sharing. JT
Mannomann, dass junge Leute so professionell sich an Jelly Roll erinnern. Klasse Jazz!
Just as it sounded in the 20s, I can imagine!
Yeah, we're in the 20s. again. lol
The end was cut!
