Why can't DCI be more like this? Jesus, my jaw dropped during this whole video. Other videos just a little bit maybe. This is incredible. One of the many reasons on why I'm a Cavie fan.
I marched drum corps in the late 90's so I'm not to crazy about the indoor movements coming out to the field but damn, this shit is intense!!! Always been a fan of the Cavaliers. 93, 96, and 97 are some of my favs!
The Bluedevils have perfection, I WILL give them that, but most of the blood, sweat, and tears, so to speak, go to the cavaliers every year. And with bluedevils, you don't get the unforgettable memories that you do with the cavaliers, there were a lot from this show alone.
I am going to say this: Most people thought that the Cavaliers won finals this year instead of Phantom. This was a very very deep and flawless show at finals. And they played this so well and so deeply it made everybody in my row feel like they were IN ancient Japan. We didn't get the same feeling from Phantom Regiments show. Not trying to bash Phantom. They were great too but everybody thought that the Cavaliers won.
ive never been in drum corps but this is probably my favorite drum break so far. not saying they are my favorite corps cause each year there is always another drum corps that blows my mind. like 2011, cavaliers did really good with visuals, but the music didn't impress me too much. the cadets really brought it that year and it was my favorite show because they had amazing visuals and the music was just phenomenal! sorry, that was just a piece of my mind lol
@BSBINC1 mature reply. BTW, my high school drumline instructor was from blue devils. Doesn't mean they deserved to win that year, and it doesn't mean I have to like them more. Cavies deserved the win!
what's up with the sudden changes? an example is right at 1:43 in the middle of the tenor solo, it happens again at 2:41 in the middle of the drumbreak. Is that you changing out your lense or something?
look at a video with just the drumline playing it, the snare break is a lot more difficult than it seems to be on the field plus its ridiculously clean.
What is it about there drill that is so fascinating to watch? I always thought the white aussies but a lot of corps wear the white or cream color and it doesn’t look half as good. Their drill has always been top notch..
Asians don't usually do that. I know some have. But, they usually see it as a sign of respect. It's usually an Asian American that never once spent a day in Asia. It also depends on if the drumline is more mixed, or if they're more white. If they're white and doing it than they'll get attacked.
- Takes picture - moment ruined...
this is the best writing ive ever seen for a drum break
Peter Diez Most creative, for sure. And definitely top 10/top 5 in terms of how good it was in writing. Top 5 in execution most definitely.
Agree
This would get like 12/20 in todays drumline writing lol
I feel like '08 was literally one of the greatest years of DCI history.
Lowkey this is one of my favorite Cavaliers performances.
@@marshallhughes4514 okay so it's not just me? I'm watching this over a decade later and feel like I'm getting stronger chills now than then lol
It was more impressive I feel like back then to be clean
I was barley alive 😎
Yes and also 1992!
Such a great tenorline.

Jim Casella in pure Beast-Mode

this never gets old.
I cannot believe how much I love this show
I love how at 2:23 the third snare from the right looks like he's just casually walking in time like a badass
Years later and I always come back to this video
I cant even imagine the adrenaline that was running through the line. Lol i was pumped up just from watching!!!!
Every time the Taiko drums come in at 1:23, I get goosebumps all over.
Gotta love those drums.
this is probably one of my fav snare solos in all of dci
damn! i never realized how cool the finish is on the bass drums. thats amazing
This is possibly the awesomest thing I've ever seen.
omg i was watching their practice and couldnt understand all the movement, now i see wow these guys are freaken great!

One of my favorites of cavaliers
Best tenor solo of 2008

Who is everybody? I was there and I certainly thought PR passed BD to win, which they did.
If you saw the standing ovation phantom got with a minute left in the show, id bet thats not correct
this was freakin tight. i wish my show was like this
So cool and very professional everyone is so together!
I've watched this at least 10 times today XD
Man I wish I was born earlier so I could watch all these shows in person ;-;
I think this was the best show of that year, bar none. Marching to music, they should have won.
Cavalier is my idol band .......Koh Samui Thailand.......
My personal favorite DCI show EVER. The Cavs kicked some ass and took some names.
completly awesome!!
cavies always have really smooth flowing drill that looks tight
Tenor solo of my life.
i fucking love this show so goddamn much
Dude the beatles are such an amazing band
The shutter bothers me till this day. Lol.
@MrGamingDrummer well that's because he is just casually walking in time like a badass
DAMN those singles
gave me chills

OMG.... I love the Cavvies!!!!
So clean!!!
No way the hell with blue devils this was the best show in 08 in dci
This hasn't been taken down because DCI know's it's way too awesome for it not to be on TH-cam.
bass drum hit at one minute sounds so good with legit speakers.
I love the sound quality (:
And still are!
best drum break of 2008
@bakerskater2120 The trumpet closest to furthest right, outside snare takes a tumble. It's actually at like 2:09.
High school band are also rehearsal limited. 1-2 hour class vs 13 hour day rehearsals.
I LOVE THAT HIT AT 1:07!!!
One great thing about being a bass drummer isnobody ever cheers for bass features, so I can always here them.
@bakerskater2120 the trumpet player on the tip of the bottom arch thats just behind the right snare.
poetry. in. motion.
@samshuty I was thinking the same thing during the halftime show.
i got chill bleh!!!!!! this was really good!!!
I love it!
You can see the dedication and discipline in this band! WOW!!!
Amazing
Is NightBeat just in one place per year? Cuz if it is, I was there. I fell in love with The Cavaliers there.
holy crap... 1:38 is the greatest tenor break ever!!
muito perfeito... meus parabens
1:39 My favore tenor solo in DCI, hands down.
@Eskew42
haha where? back there in the tuba section in the back?
if I had snare chops like that, you would never see me again..
What the hell was with the picture taking?
@bakerskater2120
Horn line right behind the snares. It's more of a trip rather than a fall.
DAMN SNAPSHOT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TENOR FEATURE.
yeah i think thats pictures being taken on the cam corder
ive watched this sooooo many times and never noticed the trumpet fall at 2:10
:o
@Eskew42 where does the guy fall i cnt find it
@bakerskater2120 Woah...I had to repeat it 3 times to find him. What a great/fast recovery. Kudos to him.
Those tenors are off the hook!!!!!!!!
clean clean clean!!! Did they win drums that night?
@BSBINC1 mature reply. BTW, my high school drumline instructor was from blue devils. Doesn't mean they deserved to win that year, and it doesn't mean I have to like them more. Cavies deserved the win!
@iHat316 Like when the tenors have their splits between themselves? Like why?
Sam dude. I love that line down there. Back when they didn't pound like SCV.
I'm more of a Phantom fan, but that is the best drum break ever.
Man! It gives me chills to watch this. How did these guys not kick Blue devil's ass? Excellent!
what's up with the sudden changes? an example is right at 1:43 in the middle of the tenor solo, it happens again at 2:41 in the middle of the drumbreak. Is that you changing out your lense or something?
@Eskew42 where i dont see it?
look at a video with just the drumline playing it, the snare break is a lot more difficult than it seems to be on the field plus its ridiculously clean.
@cultclassic182
you mean a sabre?
@bakerskater2120 lol he is beside the snare on the far right, i think trumpet? of melophone, idk these instruments i play the tenors lol
it happens all the time, i didn't even notice it until i read the comments. he had a quick recovery and that's all that matters
yea where you see the falling dude?
whats sticks do the snares use?
Never. Delete. This,
Where can I get this in HD???
What is it about there drill that is so fascinating to watch? I always thought the white aussies but a lot of corps wear the white or cream color and it doesn’t look half as good. Their drill has always been top notch..
Man, I wish I high school would do something like this :(
If this went viral, like it should, people would be calling this ultimate culture appropriation
Asians don't usually do that. I know some have. But, they usually see it as a sign of respect. It's usually an Asian American that never once spent a day in Asia. It also depends on if the drumline is more mixed, or if they're more white. If they're white and doing it than they'll get attacked.
WOW!!! 👏👏👏👏👍💋
This was the greatest drumline then!!
this was great, but wth were you doing with that camera?
I like Cavies and BD's, I think they are both amazing corps, no reason to try to decide who is better.
COME ON I JUST PUT THESE PANTS ON That drum feature was epic...
i think they were taking pics with the camera.
Crisp snares.
FUCKING LOVE THEIR UNIFORM!!!!
@MisledDeath
NO! this is the Cavaliers! Read the title! Its a drum corp.
