As a member of the Bluecoats drumline in the 2011 DCI season, I can, with confidence, say that The Cavaliers deserved to win drums that year. Outstanding writing and awesome execution. Great job, dudes.
Uhh...the fact that you marched Bluecoats that year is nice, but it doesn't change facts and reality: Cadets were way better and were the deserving winner.
@@BDizDaBestcoats were close to them placement wise in drums. Before SCV perc became a power house it them BD cadets and phantom and cavies competing for drums. Hence the reason I believe he stated that. It wasn’t about who won dci it was about how clean cavies executed their book as clean as they did
This is easily the cleanest snare line I have ever seen. I scrolled down reading comments and couldn't tell if some parts were solos or not. Fantastic.
6 years later and still no one has acknowledged the other drumline playing the same quarter note triplet math in the background at the start of the vid.
Damien Masterson from TH-cam It’s actually another lines book. I think it was from the Blue Devils that year. I remember learning it and hearing it in this video and noticing, lol.
Just so damn clean. This line is proof that all you need is clean and you can win. Not the hardest book, but fun to listen to and so, so incredibly well executed.
heck yeah, 11 was a sick season. Phat tasty musical rhythms. I digged this years' book as well, no matter what the placing was it was still sick beats.
These guys are good. Awesome drums and paintjobs on 'em too! I wish my school had had a marching band when I was in high school; just had the remnants of one. I used to take a snare drum out on the field during study period and play them on nice days. If you love drums and your school's got one, join the drum corps!!
@1SlashRocks1 those are sound projectors; they push as much of the sound of the snares forward so you can tune the drums as sexily high as these and still have the crowd hear them :D
Every time i listen to this, i keep thinking that in the beginning, where in the background the phantom line is playing their drumbreak, is part of this shows opener.
I think he means the beginning, it took somethings from "Firebird" which is a common exercise from marching band drum lines. Its basically accents on notes on one hand, then the other, then together, ect.
We do love music as a whole. Take me for example. Sure there are some genres I dont care for, but I love a LOT of different kinds of music. I am an EDM DJ, who's in a drum corp, and plays and listens to plenty of classical music for wind ensembles and symphonic orchestras.
i love the guys walking around in the back their just like 'hey look the cavaliers" i would been like "HOLY CRAP I LOVE YOUU!!!!!" *grabs ones leg* "dont leave with out me!!!!!"
Awesome video! Very cleanly shot.....The talent level and program difficulty just keep rising for all corps every single year, and this year it has taken another huge jump it seems. From Pioneer to Carolina Crown everybody is playing so much cleaner. Say all that to say the Cavies placing - or any Corps - matter less and less to me each year...They are ALL awesome!

Imo all the drums were good in 2011

I think this has gotta be my favorite drumline/dci video of all time. I keep going back to it
This is easily the cleanest snare line I have ever seen. I scrolled down reading comments and couldn't tell if some parts were solos or not. Fantastic.
+Emory Blake Yes, this was the upside down tenors and the marimba splits year.
Theres a lot cleaner videos than this
Just when you thought the guys on the right couldn't get any taller.
Hi Jamis
@@Eszz2384 a friend of mine is 17 soon and is like 6'5"
The red head tall one is my drum tech now
6 years later and still no one has acknowledged the other drumline playing the same quarter note triplet math in the background at the start of the vid.
i always thought it kinda linked up but never thought about it lol
I noticed it just didn't bother commenting about it cause I figured nobody else heard it
Damien Masterson from TH-cam It’s actually another lines book. I think it was from the Blue Devils that year. I remember learning it and hearing it in this video and noticing, lol.
Damien Masterson from TH-cam Or it may have actually been phantom regiment. I’ll have to look back into it.
Damien Masterson from TH-cam Found it. It was Phantom 2011 th-cam.com/video/Z2OQqi1Vss0/w-d-xo.html
the snare only part was so incredibly clean. Wow, just wow
I had Dan shack as a tech for our snare line this summer! He was such a chill dude. It was so cool, and he has massive chops!
I love this group. Exceptional heights, exceptional QOS, incredible timing, great touch and uniformity.
Progressively getting taller, and then short again
I like how they start after Phantom plays there lick. it just fits so well (: hahaha
I always find myself coming back to this video. Love it.
Just so damn clean. This line is proof that all you need is clean and you can win. Not the hardest book, but fun to listen to and so, so incredibly well executed.
Those are the sweetest looking drums I have ever seen.
The writing! The tuning! The cleannnnn!
Didn't know Ben Stiller played snare
Taylor Srafin and Joseph Gordon Levitt too!
i was thinking he looked like Jake Abel but yeah Ben Stiller works too lol
He was in scv 2009
Seriously man, like everything about this camera is perfect.
1:40: Hey, it's Incrediboy
This opener for some reason or another is always playing in my head and is my all time favorite piece in terms of DCI drumline.
center snare is so bad ass i love his confidence
So, i'm just chillin, vibing the licks...then 1:51 comes around and the bass line rips through that split...well done
they definitely deserve the high percussion award!
I saw the Cavi's 3 weeks ago on the 21st! Along with the Crossmen, Carolina Crown's, and the Cadets!!
I like how the harness and drum color make them look like badasses
I have seriously watched this vid 3 times a day for the past month....
heck yeah, 11 was a sick season. Phat tasty musical rhythms. I digged this years' book as well, no matter what the placing was it was still sick beats.

The drums and horns from different corps seem to match, holy damn.
I listen to Cavies 2011, and SCV 1978, and SCV 1980 every single day. :p
BEST DRUMLINE EVER LOVED IT WISH MINE DRUM LINE WAS GREAT LIKE THAT
I love how the snares are being filmed even when the tenors and basses are doin their thing....
@1SlashRocks1 those are sound projectors; they push as much of the sound of the snares forward so you can tune the drums as sexily high as these and still have the crowd hear them :D
I love those drums
Joseph gordon-levitt got chops
1:48 gooo basses
1080p......i could cry with how good the quality is.
Their snare are cool as hell!
sounds so awsome!!!!!!!!!!
The guy one left of center is one of our drum techs.
I like that phantom in the background in the beginning.
MIND BLOWN!
Those finishes are so rad...
There's nothing like these guys to boost your self confidence.....*Heavy sigh*
gotta love those drum shells
Holy Bass tuning....im in love
god...this percussion line was amazing
Is that Derek Vo on bass drum with phantom regiment in the background in the first couple of seconds? I'd recognize that quality anywhere.
I just realized how clean they sound... Damn
love that bassline...
You saw his frontes, heck you even got a chance to see his side-es but when will we get to see his Backes..?
Love the green drums and good performance my opinion. :-)
This is my fucking dream corp..
Your drums are beautiful...
i met one of the snare guys at adams state. totally awesome
Center is fantastic.
bro, this is DCI. you don't get much better than this.
the book that year was written so uniquely and fluid. Very m
emorable drum line for sure in my opinion
I love how as the snare line progresses down, everyone gets freakishly taller XD
Every time i listen to this, i keep thinking that in the beginning, where in the background the phantom line is playing their drumbreak, is part of this shows opener.
Nice drum really like the color
I love the hat tan on the center snare.
The Cavaliers are so cool, like they are just instantly cool for "being" the cavaliers.
Oh my goodness thy was amazing
They got some serious chops.
I think he means the beginning, it took somethings from "Firebird" which is a common exercise from marching band drum lines. Its basically accents on notes on one hand, then the other, then together, ect.
wow I love center snare's technique
Did the snare in the center of the beginning of the video march Rhythm X in 2011?
hahaha- hearing the metronome in the back lol ^_^ Great job guys!
Awesome I wish when I grow I'll be the.good drummer
center snare looks like a badass, but he is freakin amazing
We do love music as a whole. Take me for example. Sure there are some genres I dont care for, but I love a LOT of different kinds of music. I am an EDM DJ, who's in a drum corp, and plays and listens to plenty of classical music for wind ensembles and symphonic orchestras.

i love the guys walking around in the back their just like 'hey look the cavaliers" i would been like "HOLY CRAP I LOVE YOUU!!!!!" *grabs ones leg* "dont leave with out me!!!!!"
I just LOVE gauges' face tan. What kind of hat do you think he wears?

sou fan de vc6 moro no Brasil vc sao feras!!
at first I saw the three short guys and then I was like WOAH!
Got a little phantom regiment action in the background at the beginning? :)
I love being a band nerd and spending a few hours every day studying great bands.
Got a little phantom regiment in the background at the very beginning?
My favorite part was 1:50 when the bass came in its was so cool.
so clean. wow.
I love that subwoofer bass 5.
That was FIRE!!!!!!
That was tight
The snare tuning❤️
-sighs- nothing like few hot snare drummers to make my day
This is an absolutely amazing video I love it
Utter sweetness.

So clean😮
Who is the really tall drumline guy next to mike, is he known from somewhere as well?
