I wanted to tell you. Living in Indianapolis, I didn’t have much hope for dahlias. I planted several in a raised, island bed, last year. I didn’t dig them up in the fall and store them. So to my surprise they came up this year. They are already looking better than last year.
I set my tubers in the garden about 2 weeks ago. I'm happy to say they are putting out awesome growth daily! This was my first time over wintering the tubers, I'm a believer now!❤
I just love every single video you make!!! The green in your gardens is so bright and beautiful and I get excited every time you post something! Thank you Roxie 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Roxana I can’t wait to see them blooming. I moved some of mine from a raised bed into the ground here in zone 8/Ga and only cafe au lait didn’t make it. 😢
That rose! Stunning! I planted my first David Austin today The Generous Gardener. I love, love, love your diamond trellis and that entire area near the water feature it's so GORGEOUS!
This is going to be gorgeous! I love the idea of having them be mobile. It has been a bit of a learning curve for me figuring out how to keep grow bags moist in the desert southwest. I’ve learned to use a bigger pot, more peat moss or coir to hold moisture, timed drip irrigation with generous emitters, and a thick layer of mulch!! I may be comfortable enough to start trying them out with dahlias!!
I am definitely not a dahlia expert but in the last couple of years I have planted pre sprouted dahlias in terra-cotta pots with potting soil and added sea compost and they have grown very well. I insert tomato cages in the pot before the dahlias grow so they would automatically have some support. I think grow bags are a great idea as one can insert them among the garden! 🌸❤️🇨🇦
I transplanted a rose bush two years ago. I fertilized the hole but still no roses. This spring its doubled/tripled in size. Do I need to fertilizer to get blooms or is it too early for blooms. I live in CT. Zone 5 I think.
It’s going to depend on the type of rose you have, they don’t need fertilizer to Book but the plant needs it to be growing healthier, I only fertilize mine once in the spring
Love roses! Very beautiful! I got a new shrub rose and 2 floribundas that I usually don’t grow because things have to be hardy to survive here as I don’t want a lot of fuss. I have still another pot of dahlias from seed and looking for a place where I can dig them up in the fall if I care to keep them. The ones I have left are giant so I suspect they need room. I need to use granular organic fertilizer here because of the sandy soil otherwise it goes straight through because of so much watering. Some areas are getting better as it takes at least 3-5 years to build good soil. Everything is looking great! Thanks for the dahlia tips. Don’t forget to wrap one layer of burlap on boxwoods this late fall. It has made a huge difference in ours and the Alberta Spruces as we had no winter burn.
Roxanna, I was very interested in your use of grow bags for the dahlias. I have grown mine in pots for the last two years, but this year I am considering in ground placement. I can see the advantage to using the bags and will be interested in seeing how they perform over the summer! Thank you.
beautiful garden nice to see especially so early in the season!!. I am starting my dahlias in pots inside a sun drenched semi heated morton building and have noted my leaves are being eaten, but cannot identify the culprit. temp steady earlier in spring from 50ish to 66ish and warm afternoons in May up to 70 or 72 the pots are sitting in full sun south facing all glass garage door. what could my pest be? very disturbing for sure. I am willing to spray something on them but don't want to if there is somthing organic.
Beautiful garden 💞💞 This video make my day 💓💓

THAT is awesome!
I may try the bag method for my dahlias. You made it look pretty easy! Thanks.
Those Dahlias will be beautiful
I sure hope so! ❤️❤️❤️
Love your idea of growing dahlias in grow bags! So smart
I've used the PW water soluble fertilizer as a treatment every 1-2 weeks, and I did the Tomato tone when planting last year.
You are such a Busy Bee 🐝 Everything is beautiful, thanks for sharing! 😍

Stunning rose!!! Where did you get your metal rose support< please?
I got it from gardeners supply.
@@SoilandMargaritas thank you!

Thank you friend!
I love that you like to experiment in your garden. I do too.
You have created a beautiful garden!
Your Bathsheba is looking really good Roxana! I use fish emulsion fertilizer on my potted dahlia plants!
I might do that as well.

It is all a process trying to figure out a sweet spot for them.

I wish I could find sea compost here, I would be all over it. Grow bags are super handy and easy to move around.
🪴🌸GOING TO BE BEAUTIFUL ‼️🌺🪴
Can’t wait to see them! Thanks!
Those dahlias are so huge and healthy!😍
Right!?! Thank you!
Can’t wait to see them bloom !

I will definitely give updates.
Mi rosa esta creciendo mucho y solo le miro unos botoncitos ya quiero que este asi como la tuya.
Ya pronto amiga.

I would check super early in the am as I know a lot of those pests get around.
Beautiful garden! Love the roses. Where did you find your water feature? So nice.
Locally, it is made by campania international.
Great idea ! Are you then going to over winter them in those grow bags? (Being able to move them with ease)
That’s my hope but we will see!
@@SoilandMargaritas very clever !!!
Thank you, great idea ! 🌷💚🙃
Those are going to be beautiful. It looked somewhat overcast during this video but will they get enough sun ☀️ where you placed them?
Yes, very cloudy this day but this spot faces the south side of the garage so they will get full sun!
That rose is awesome. What garden cart do you use?
This one cart is a gorilla cart.
Great video. I'm wondering if itd too late to plant my dahlia tubers in zone 7b...the grow bag is a great idea for me too!!
I don't think so, plant them now for sure.
@@SoilandMargaritas Thank you..was encouraged by your video!
