@@pezpengy9308 last time we got a storm formed in the eastern pacific was 2019 this doesn’t happen all too often. Why are you so lax? Better to be prepared than not. It’s pouring in Honokaa and foggy and wind gusts expected up to 40+ by afternoon. This isn’t something to play around. It’s not fear mongering.

It is a medium rain in Hilo this morning. If the news wasn't trying to fearmonger and boost ratings I would think this is just a normal rainy day. But yea tourists can leave, that is fine.

Aloha from Kona! I guess it’s the calm before the storm because it’s beautiful here right currently! On the big island, we have two very large mauna’s or mountains Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa ! so hopefully these beautiful mountains or volcanoes will break up this tropical storm/hurricane🙏🏾✌🏽

I'm 20 miles south of Hilo Hawaii, and yea, it's raining, ....which it does nearly every day, on and off. Winds are mild. I'm about to go down to the coast - I love big waves, and watching the mini frigate birds birds frolicking.

Saturday 7:43 am Keaukaha Puhi Bay hardly raining wind maybe 8mph ... see what happens but even if it blows 30mph with rain just a regular day on da eastside ..
Aloha from Kona! Yeah, it’s beautiful here. I don’t know if it’s the calm before the storm and usually Mauna Kea & Loa protects and breaks up these storms.. hopefully they’ll be some good ways and Rain is a blessing..

Is the vulcanic national park closed? For how long? Can I drive up to Mauna kea with my jeep wrangler or is it also closed? Just arrived today and can't find information about it.

That is normal, typical tropical weather. Beautiful Hawaii. Slow the hype down; you are stressing the residents. Relax. I am a former resident of Guam, so used to typhoons.

I stay Hawaii 10 years. Was in waianae for Iniki. 30 foot shore brake ! 30" of sand on the west coast hwy. What does "HONE " mean ?
FEARMONGER.....the storm is expected to pass south 250 miles away. Rain is an average day of life on the Hilo side. Get your ass to South Point and report from there. Planes still landing in Hilo and Kona. The Mayor doing a horrible job with the homeless in Hilo.

Stupid question: Since there has been increased earthquake activity with rising magma levels, I'm wondering if all the moisture seeping into the volcano may turn into steam and create a small eruption. Is that a consideration? Not sure.
Born and raised here. no it has zero effect on it. We live on an island with 8 different climate zones with some of the most rainfall anywhere in the world. Hawai'i sits over a lava hotspot.
