- Don Shanks spoke at a fund-raising lunch for QPR legend Stan Bowles in Mayfair recently, and we caught up with him to reflect on a very successful event.

I was very lucky to see Stan at his best for QPR in the 70s. He's far more loved at Loftus Road than Rodney Marsh.
Stan was very fortunate to have Don Shanks as his best friend.

I didn't know about this. When was a football mad kid in Bristol, Stan was one of the great ones I'd watch whenever I could. Such a stylish striker. Look at any photo...poise. Didn't hurt that he was a total non conformist as well! RIP Bowlsey.
