No disrespect to desk, but he does his own thing, and I do mine. I'm more interested in pushing the game to its limits, and ultimately that requires TAS, especially with a random game like ST. To really see a good example of this, check out my later video "Combos From Hell", which has even more setups that are 100% impossible to do by hand.
Thanks! I have to credit fellow combo maker "Shin Tanimoto" for that idea. If you have even a passing interest in the SFEX series, I'd recommend you check out his videos, they're crazy!
Yeah, I'll second the appreciation for the explanations. It helps people like me who are less acquainted with the quirks of ST to really appreciate this video. Great work!
Yeah, last time I edited one of these, it was way too fast. Even someone who knows the game real well like me could barely keep up and I made the video!
There is something so unsatisfying about characters having their super shadows without actually doing their super. The crazy thing about this video is that a lot of this isn't just useless, but cool looking shenanigans. Quite a few of these weird tech situations are actually very useful to know. Super Turbo is a weird but wonderful game.
I was never good at Street fighter 2, haven't followed sf stuff since, yet i still find myself addicted to watching your videos. Maybe it's the nerd in me lol. Hope you do more videos with your insight and explanations behind them! 🤞😃
I'm not sure the Ryu fireball range problem was actually a glitch, it seems to be a deliberate design decision so that Ryu can't spam you up close. I took full advantage of it.
Well, the design decision to prevent him from spamming you up close is its recovery time. I never said it was a glitch, it's just fun to play around with.
I've always loved Ken and especially his air hurricane kick (tatsu). It's got 3 different 'arcs' to it and you can do some really fun and tricky stuff with it. Also great against Sagat for big combos! I would love to see you explore this move and its variations in an upcoming video. I mean that is if there is new stuff to be discovered ?
IF I find new things, I'll play around with it. Like I said in the video, I tried really hard to find a way to get a full air tatsu on Sagat, but so far it seems to be impossible. The reversal glitch that pushes Ken down into the ground had a lot of potential, but Sagat isn't good enough at chasing fireballs to make it work.
Can you list a transcript on how to do that difficult boxer combo from 11:07 onwards? And also how you end the combo with a super from the close standing medium kick as well? So damn hard...

Hi bro...how do you do three kick hop forward into super for blanka? What is the shortcut? And also his rolling horizontal ball ( is it the jab version based on what i see) into super as well?
There is no shortcut, it's very specific timing. You have to space out your forward/backward inputs enough to get the super the moment the other special move ends. So charge back, forward +button, back, forward +P. I don't think I've ever done these manually, but I've seen other people do super after the hop. An easier version of this is to pick Boxer, and then do Low Rush Upper(charge b, d/f+LK) into super.
Corner only, it is Fierce. The reason it works is because the moves ends in time for Dictator to recover and still be able to do his super. Super moves have a bigger window of time to do the inputs than special moves. So it's charge back(at full charge both PC and super are available), forward +P to get the PC, back, forward +K to get the super.
I didn't do any of these manually. I can manually combo off of his strong, but that's a lot easier than roundhouse. You can just input the entire super motion, wait for the input window on his fireball to expire, then hit strong and then a kick button and you'll get the cancel. You can't do the same technique with roundhouse, because you'll just get the super in stead of the roundhouse. I suppose what you could do is charge back, hit down-forward (which counts as an input for his super, but not for specials), then hit back+roundhouse, then forward + any kick. I've never tried that, but theoretically that could work.
@@ShoRyuBarbie i can super cancel stand/crouch strong and crouch fierce but ive been trying to find a way to do it off of close roundhouse. I never thought of inputting it like that, i have to try this out. Thank you!
@@ShoRyuBarbie the closest ive gotten so far is kara cancelled roundhouse into super. Im so close! Right now im trying it only off of close roundhouse. I had to change the input a little bit. Im holding down back, going to down forward, then up back and trying to hit and hold roundhouse when the stick is at neutral and then going to up forward + mk.
@@delatroy Personally, I use frame advance. Advance the game, frame by frame, holding the buttons on each frame that I want inputs to happen. Most people write macros, but I'm bad at that.
In your combo and tech video regarding boxer...how do you combo his rush upper into his super? I mean i can do the super when rush upper whiffs from a distance without touching the enemy...but i was curious cuz no matter how i try after rush upper hits, no super comes out...
I'm just gonna give you a general answer for all of your questions: Most of this stuff is super precise timing. This is why I don't do these combos manually. On top of that, the game is really random, so even if you had perfect inputs, sometimes these strict combos just don't work. If you learn the basics of the game's rules and input mechanics, you can figure out of to do these things and you can practice all you want, but these things you're asking about are impossible to use in real matches and you'll only get them once in 100 tries in training mode. I've done both rush punch into super(upper and straight) and Sagat's far kicks into super, but in training mode only. Maybe the Sagat one in a match, but it has a 99% change of not connecting properly. If you wanna do it, go into training mode, try different timings(usually slower than you think) and keep trying. I can't give you a way to do it consistenly, sorry.
Emulator, I am never ever gonna try and do (most)stuff like this manually. Even if you used a programmable pad/desk, you could never account for the built-in randomness in this game.
Well, originally Capcom, but then I came and cut up their sprites, added stuff here and there, or just redrew things that I needed, based on the existing art.
I have been looking a lot for the Blue Fire animation of the SUPER letters for a long time, u are really talented. Ur animations also in this youtube channel are amazing. Do you have any Contact info?
The blue fire is a separate layer in the game. When you disable the overlay that forms the "SUPER" part, you end up with a block of animated fire. I'm a bit hesitant to share contact info in youtube comments, tbh.(And apparently TH-cam doesn't have a way to send private messages) Can I ask what this is about?

Well, honestly I've specialised more in character animation, doing completely original title design/grapics isn't exactly my forte. It's a nice little side hobby, just like making combo videos(though this'll probably be my last one, because it's too time/energy consuming). I'm just lucky Capcom had some really good people making this stuff that I could manipulate.
I did all this on an emulator, not by hand. In all my years of playing I've managed to do it by hand about two times. I'm terrible at that manually. As far as I know, you're supposed to do a quarter circle forward, wait a little bit, then hit Fierce and do another qcf, then hit punch. The idea is to run out the window on the special cancel, but still be within the window for the super cancel. At least, that's how I understand it.

From the transcript(link in the description): 0:48 - O.Dictator has a reversal bug. When he performs a reversal Devil Reverse, he gets his last performed special move. Wow didn't realize those 2 short combos could be combined! Also I've heard this game has 'spaghetti code' and that was 'built' on top of Super SF2. That would explain some of the cool and bizarre stuff you featured in this video (I think?). I just love seeing new stuff in any version of SF2 but tell me if I'm posting too many comments and/or replies. Don't mean to annoy anyone!
Hi Bob, your videos are amazing, now YT has Shorts and it's not forbidden to use parts of other videos up to 15 seconds, I used them because I think your videos are amazing!
You mean the old character code, or the explanation after that timestamp? You can pick "old" versions of the characters, from the previous game by inputting a code when selecting them.
