- Join me fishing for pink salmon at the Puyallup River in Washington. Pink salmon return to the river every two years and this is the year to get them. The river is full of fish. It was fun fishing for them. It’s hard to go home empty handed when these fish are in the river. I ran to my friend Khoi at the spot. Drifting corkie is the main technique use to fish here.

No, pinks still bite and flossing is done with a much longer leader than he's using.
oh boy do you know nothing. sure pinks bite - in the ocean and clear water. And you can floss with a 3ft leader. I see it all time on the local rivers. But this water is chocolate milk with zero visibility LOL.@@AlexGonzalez-qi4nx
Umm pink salmon will still strike when they are in the river bud. I drop a float small weight with a 2-3’ depth and a 12” leader to red wool and I just cast out and reel slow. You’ll see the buggers fly over and wack it. Flossing is typically when you have a 3’ or longer leader as that’s how you would best get the swinging action of the line through a fishes mouth.
Lol end of drift, 7ft leader, no bait with straight mud… people snagging, yourself included. This is flossing 😉 good job though ( not legal where I fish)
Different area different technique….but yeah plenty of pinks to go around.

It is loaded with fish. Everyone on the river is friendly and will help you out. Just let the downstream guy cast first and you will be fine 🙂

Please, and spread the message, you HAVE to kill them and bleed them right after you land them. You cant just let them suffer to death. that behavior is asking for corrective intervention in any area I have heard of.
I bled mine quick and every time. Water is cold enough to keep them nice 😊

Do any salmon travel the river in the off years?
Pink salmon run every other year. But there’s king and coho that come back every year
What size are the 2 corkys on the hook? And also why do you raise your rod up while reeling in?
Size 12 and 10. I’m mending the line, picking up the rod slightly and reel to get all the slack in. Then I put it back down to touch bottom. You’ll feel fish pick up the corky when the line is tight.

Vu, are you using braided line and leader line?
For drift fishing, you want to use mono line. 15lbs test mono should be good. What I had was braid line so I tied another 100+ yard of mono line on the spool. The reason is because braid tends to cut thru other lines like butter if they all tangled up in the current (cut other fisherman line). So I recommend to have mono line out there when drifting
@@fishingwithvuYou don't need mono over your braid. The braid will not cut mono if you don't yank. I've been using braid for over 30 years. I don't have issues with cutting people off unless I mean to. If I tangle I cut my line and retie.
Oh nice. Good to know. Sometime folks give me a weird look when they see me with braid trying squeeze through. Honesty I have never seen it cut thru other lines either

I’ve caught many salmon using A hook wrapped in orange or red yarn
I like to add scent sometime and it just seems to be stick on yarn better 🤷♂️
We use it up here in the Vancouver BC area , The Fraser Chilliwack ,Vedders rivers, no problem
