I found my 1994 MuZ Silver Star languishing in a dirt yard in an old trailer park, in Tucson, Arizona. It had weeds growing up through its air box and chain guard, and black widow spider webs just about everywhere else. I paid the man $500 and dragged it home. It had been laying there for over 10 years. This video has more words spoken about that bike than any other place I've found on the web. I had it running like a new bike, literally, in a few days after bringing it home. Thanks for acknowledging it. I absolutely can't wait to ride it. It'll be fun to take it to bike night and listen to people try to figure out what the bloody hell that thing is!

I'd said in the comments on another video that I'd only discovered this channel a couple of days ago, but i really can't thank TH-cam enough for the recommendation.
    What an outstanding channel.
I've subscribed to, (and forgotten about) a lot of motorbike channels, but this is as good as it gets.
Fantastically narrated, with loads of great footage, it has to be the most educational bike channel on TH-cam - the level of research and the depth of knowledge exhibited by the creator/producer is mind blowing.
As for the bikes in this video - brilliant...each and every one.

great video, just a bit surprised the CCM gp450 adventure never made it on here, bond lite frame, 126kg dry weight, x3 fuel tanks, cocentric front sprocket/swingarm arrangement, truly inspired engineering and only 390 ever made, much more true to CCM and their undeniable dirt focused roots ,than the stuff they are now churning out

CCM need to take ideas from an over engineered engine like some here like Husaberg, MZ, Husqvarna or even the old BSAs with a very strong crankshaft, maybe DOHC like the Fury but with watercooling and a big sump and really good cooling. Hopefully Triumph in the USA are making a great new competition dirt bike that isnt overcomplicated and can be kept going. Theres a huge market for a very solid, over engineered motor and transmission with bargain parts bucket twin shocks, solid simple forks and nissin calipers that will be far cheaper and single rotor. TVS have the right idea in my opinion with their small capacity detuned engines that are simple real workhorses that are cheap to buy, simple and basic transport but make it a solid simple design but with the gearbox pinion sorted like a Suzuki DR650 but with watercooling, oil cooler, but built like a tank and practical adventure type machine that can take abuse like some of those MZ even enclosing the chain and putting protection on it like engine bars, fork gaiters, and stuff to protect like sump guard and something to protect shocks and linkages and stuff from grit, mud but build in grease nipples for swing arm, steering head bearings. AJP the portugese bike maker has done great with listing bearing and o ring and bush sizes so you can buy a bearing for example from NTN, SKF, Nissin or any maker cheaper and readily on the shelf in any part of the world whether Africa, china, japan, europe, asia or n or s or central america. It will take time for AJP to get well known but with a great reputation, reliable cheaper bikes that offer simple practical bikes that are a swiss army type bike they could be better than chinese bikes for a little more or go TVS, MZ or Royal enfield route keeping them simple but make them basic and good looking like those BSA dirt bike singles of the early 1970s but strongly built sorted new type engine design for modern times. So many of us dont want bikes with very expensive electronic complications and design thats expensive, with more to go wrong, expensive and overcomplex to fix. Put on good basic shocks like Girling or hagon, cheaper brake calipers not expensive Brembos and basic forks. A despatch rider type bike, rugged, simple thats easy and cheap to service with honda type reliability and durability and army type design would sell so well. Suzuki has done some good bikes and the v strom 800 seems good but its too expensive and couldve been a bit like the old DR650 crossed with V strom 650 but basic and cheap and easier to work on than v strom as therez too much panels and plastics to take off to get at stuff. Otherwise apart from v strom stator weakness and clutch weakness, the alternator could be beefed up as could clutch and with good engine protection. Apart from that, just strip down unnecessary heavy unneeded stuff but keep practical stuff with thoughtful design like greese nipples for the field.

@@Ian-bq7gp re - AJP the portugese bike maker has done great with listing bearing and o ring and bush sizes so you can buy a bearing for example from NTN, SKF - couldnt agree more, all standard sizes too, unlike Triumph, standard sizes and cheap parts are a rarity with Triumph from my experiences 🙂

Some great bikes there. CCM is a favourite of mine having owned 2. Build issues easily sorted then it's bombproof. Disagree with the vibes though. The suzuki engine model was fine but the Rotax lump was a bone shaker. Suzuki lump. Was from the xf650 freewind and not the DR650. Same bottom end but the head had twin carbs and larger valves which gave the extra power.

I remember most from the media, but only familiar with about four, but still, it sounds a bit like it should be my shopping list! As I have probably posted before, I run a mish mash of 348/404/604/644 Rotax/Suzuki CCM's, so know those well, and only narrowly missed tracking down a Nuda, after watching Royal Jordanians videos. To be fair, this list was mostly SuperMoto based, which is my niche I suppose. Do you think the Mulhalcen inspired CCM in the creation of the Spitfire? Very similar philosophy don't you think?. The Fantic Cabellero is another one available recently. Another interesting video Sir, right up my street, Arhh!

glad you enjoyed it mate, i think the Spitfire took bits and ideas from everywhere lol, but the frame is very Nuda i think. but yes the philosophy similar to the Mulhacen and possibly both took inspiration from the Pegaso which i would say was inspired by the Nordwest.

I purchased all the highland 950 parts from Highland USA when they went out of business. The Highland head flows 30 percent more air than my friends best ported Husqvarna 610 head, which has 70 hp. The capabilities of the Highland have not been fully unleashed yet. To unlock its true potential it will need two throttle bodies rather than one, and a dry sump oil system. These two moves should practically double the power output. I think it would be very interesting to get the Zupin Nuda 900RR at 17:00, the Highland 950 V2, Ducati Desert Sled, and Triumph Scrambler 1200 all together in a comparison! The Ducati, and Triumph to me are actually big duellies, as you Brits call them.

I would like to know your thoughts on the Harris built Matchless G80 of 1987, it's Rotax powered like the MZ Silver Star. I fancy both bikes, along with the Honda GB500TT, Yamaha SR400, and R-E Bullet 500. 😍
