A few points on the Milles. The homologation special was not the RSVR, it was the Mille SP. It had a higher revving shorter stroke Cosworth head, adjustable race frame and full ohlins, oz racing wheels, sp twin stacked racing pipes. Out of the crate it wasn’t tuned and needed race prep and tuning to get the power but was capable of over 135bhp at the rear wheel. The rsv standard bike was 118bhp rear wheel (128bhp crank) and the engine was identical in the rsvr so it put out the same 128bhp. It could make around 4bhp more with the factory Akra can and Rp58 piggyback chip. It was not a homologation special but a premium version of the standard bike using Ohlins suspension, Oz cast alloy wheels and some carbon body parts. Then there was the ltd edition Haga and Edwards reps. Haga rep was an rsvr with different decals, twin akras and a different chip. It was 132bhp. Edwards was very different. Black painted frame, 57mm throttle bodies, bigger ram air snorkles and larger airbox. Also had toughened titanium conrods, 4 spray injector nozzles, bigger valves and made 147bhp at the crank. It was basically a gen2 head on a gen 1 motor. Gearbox had taller first gear and closer ratio 3/4/5/6th. It and the sp are the rarest Milles, a good SP now fetching anything up to £50k and a mint edwards rep in standard trim fetching £10 to £12k with low miles. I had all bar the sp version. The most enjoyable on the road was the gen1 rsvr and that’s the best one to buy to enjoy.

Great video. Thank you. Having owned a 916 from new buy trading in my WM GSXR-750, when I was also racing two RGV-250’s in the Australian Production 250 series (that Troy and many other Australian World Champions came from) I must admit I wish I kept it based on current re-sale value however, it just wasn’t an easy bike to live with. Apart from the extreme heat it just didn’t handle anywhere near as the Japanese WSB equivalent base machines no matter what I did to the suspension changes so I sold it and then purchased the best road going, non purpose built bike to compete in the original Fireblade. A bike that was so far ahead of its time. That TL1000 engine was great, just the chassis and swing arm was so mismatched that it was scary to ride even at 60% through corners. I know I’ve gone off original topic however just thought I add my little piece of memories. Love this channel, keep up the great work. 👍😎🇦🇺

      @barebonesmc  ปีที่แล้ว

cheers for watching mate, sounds like you need a Navigator :-) best of both worlds :-) the TL1000 engine in a Tamburini chassis, they are a great bike, the only reason I sold mine was i do go off road a fair bit and it was just too much power, the 650 Vstrom is just easier off road :-) have a good day and enjoy the ride :-)

I must congratulate you on the quality of your videos. It is of the best on TH-cam.
Although I personally do not prefer the ride style of superbikes anymore, getting a bit older, there are some very nice superbikes around, even Italian ones. Most off the bikes on this list I have unfortunately not seen here in South Africa.
If I have to pic my top 10 motorcycles of all time to park in my dream garage , the Duke 916 will definitely have a spot in the top 3.
Whenever you see the 916 or any of its siblings on the road you know that it does not matter what you ride the 916 will most probably end up ahead off you on top of the mountain pass.

Four for sale in my country. ‘06 and ‘07’s with around 16K Km’s for around €4000.

The TL-S was flawed to say the least.
I'll hold my hand up and admit a 97 S really wasn't the ideal first big bike, but that thing was unpredictable - no warning before something bad happens.
Had 4 aprilia RSVs on the bounce after (3 base Milles & 1 RSV-R) and stopped crashing.
Other road users seemed to have it in for aprilia, but the bikes treated my dumb arse pretty well.

8:44 - And it also comes with an infuriating, 'flip-up' sidestand that's guaranteed to make you look like a bumbling buffoon at least a couple of times during your ownership, as you try to move it and rest back again on its stand . . . . . only to realise its flipped up and you've no choice but to unceremoniously lay it on the ground - to the accompanying sound of laughter from onlookers !

lol, whatever happened to clutch cable trips on side stands? i cant even remember what bike it was on, the side stand flipped up as you pulled in the clutch, simples lol one of those things like the self cancelling indicators the LC had that just dissappeared for years, maybe we might get it back one day like the self cancelling indicators have started to return (yes i know the Harleys had em all along🙂) have a great day mate

      @@barebonesmc I gave up after 8 mins.
The 4 in one at 1.20 didn't work. I mean, what was that for?
After the first part, the Tesi video imparted nothing; I understand why you posted the front wheel, but for so long? And the 360deg and subsequent Tesi section showed little.
Next came the Cagiva; Over exposed, and at times unstable, video of a bike (could have been anything) chasing its shadow down the road with a couple of poor stills thrown in.
Aprilia. A gentle ride along a pleasant country lane to bring back memories for the rider, with a very poor single still to show the actual bike. I learned little from them and enjoyed the same. Then I gave up in despair.

@@michaeltelemachus5112 fair enough, to be fair, it was done a while ago, and it has been a steep learning curve, i had never even edited a video before january this year, The Navigator and Gran Canyon footage was filmed a while back on an old go pro, but the Pegaso footage wasnt, I thought it gave people a view of the sort of lanes i often ride and a look into the area i ride most. sorry it didnt work for you, the split screen bit was a bit of an experiment, and without trying new ideas i never learn, cheers for taking the time to let me know exactly what and i will take it onboard. Good Tesi footage I could use was very thin on the ground too. as i guess it always would be with such a niche bike. I do my best, thats all i can ever do, thanks again
