The success of the current Mustang and other "retro-style" cars later created in this category are all thanks to this car. My 2006 GT was and still is the best bang for the buck car. It still turns heads and gets as much attention as any current Mustang, Camaro, or Challenger. out there.
The GTO lacked the soon to be popular retro styling. A craze that the Mustang started. It didn't sell nearly as well as the Mustang and died with the Pontiac brand.
It had coke bottle styling though, before the others. It may not have sold as well but remember it was a trim option at first and the Tempest was selling well compared to it due to lower insurance. Plus the fact that A-body cars including GTO of the 60s-early 70s were legendary. Ford has some great Mustangs but my point was it wasn't first.
I'm not talking about sales lol it started the trend but it's fine to be biased. It did start the era of stuffing the biggest engine in the lightest car because DeLorean didn't get the go-ahead from GM on the Banshee
I wasn't talking about the GTO's from the 60's. I was talking about the mid-2000's. This 2005 Mustang reignited the popularity in this category of cars for the last 13 years. Sadly, the GTO during the mid to late 2000's did not spark the same popularity or steer the direction of this car category like this Mustang did.

I'm proud to say that thanks to my mom purchasing my 2006 mustang GT for me in January 2021, it's been 10 months, and I love driving my mustang, it gets me where I need to go, has plenty of power, and is a blast to drive.
yooo! congrats! my first car is an 06 mustang too! it’s been in my family for about 12 years and it was my brothers and it’s mine now. truly is so much fun to drive and absolutely beautiful from the outside too. tho little tip if you still have the shake 500 or 1000 in your vehicle, start deciding what features you like the most in it and start looking at aftermarket radio units to put in there when the shaker eventually craps out. i just replaced mine in december haha so that’s how i know

In my opinion they should’ve stayed with this body style just with new technology in the car. No antenna just embedded throughout the rear window. Thank God I have still have my 2005 GT Mustang with Torch Red exterior and yes “Its Manual” 🔥👍

The '05 Mustang started the Modern Day Muscle Car wars. Thanks to this great car Camaro made a comeback as did Challenger and Charger. And we have one. We have an '05 GT Fastback, original bone stock. And its Henry's favourite colour Black.
They should not have departed from this body style as much as they did. They should have made more subtle changes like Dodge did with the Challenger. The 05-09 look with Coyote performance and IRS would be pretty sweet. I have an 06 GT purchased new and it is meticulously kept with 95,000 miles now. I love that car. People trash talk the 4.6L 3V but the truth is it’s a workhorse of an engine and it sounds great, it sounds better than the Coyote engine. If it was not a great engine it would not have been on Wards 10 Best Engines multiple years. I have some bolt ons and a good tune and my car runs strong. Such mods really awaken it over stock. It’s no slouch and it feels great to drive. I hope to have it a long time and to keep it looking awesome and running great.

Not all the 70's body styles looked bad, 1970-1973 were fine. But 74-2004 were just horrendous to me... Now the 80's fox body's made great race cars though

I have a 09 mustang gt 45 anniversary car with the glass roof. I absolutely love this car!!! Reliable and strong for what it is. 182000 miles and still truckin!!!!!! Not to mention absolutely perfect remake of the 60s model mustang's. Wouldn't trade it for nothing!!!!
Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 is what really got me into this car. After that, I bought a mini Hot Wheels version of the car I had in the game (plain 05 silver GT) Then 10 years later I bought one for my first car. Been my dream car since I was a kid! Had ~11,000 miles on it when I bought it. 05 GT Premium, window sticker, records, everything. Absolutely love it.
It's the same thing I've been thinking! With all these new vinyl wrap colors, 05-09 Mustang owners have been taking these models to different levels, these 05-09 still to this day turns as much heads on the street as any new model of today would.. Ford did an amazing job with the 2005-2014 S197 model.

I owned a 2005 in Cloudveil/Vista Blue (Canadian colour code), sold it when I got married. Great car. 5th Gen was a brilliant series to combine old + new.
I live in the UK and am the proud owner of a 2007 GT Convertible , Torch Red with the Premium interior package, They never sold the 5th Gen in the UK. I love it! Looks much more like a mustang than the current 6th Gen.
Bought my 05 Mustang GT Convertible Premium in 08. Has been my daily driver since then… Solid. I see it as the last of the old age stangs with not a ton of tech and easy to work on.
I personally just bought a 2006 Mustang and I love it. It doesn't have a V-8 but I didn't want a V-8 so i bought one with a V-6. Its the same color as the one there and I love it.

Before I had an 2011 s197. Because I didn’t like the original s197 pre face lift. Now as an Owner of an 08 bullitt; I gotta say these cars are beautiful in person.
The design of the car was not great. I was very disappointed for the Retro Thunderbird! I own a 95 T-bird V8 4.6 ….I think it looks better ….than the retro design they came out with sadly in 2002! If it had some tweaks here and there In a bigger V-8…they would’ve had a big hit …but they went Too aero With the front design…… and it looks too fat in the front….tapered back to the tail.
If you actually stand back and look at the design of the 1994 mustang sn95, it truly is a work of art, nice body lines, curves, etc. Even motor trend loved the 1994. It was just wrong timing being so different then the fox body. I also liked the 2003-2004 cobras, such nice cars. The 1999-2004 Ford Lightning were so nice as well, clean trucks. The stuff ford put out following those awesome cobras and Lightnings just didn’t do it for me. You could hand me the keys to a 2005 mustang and I would sell it, just looks cheap to me. 2013-2014 mustang are the best of that generation mustang. Very nice in 13/14.

99-04 is my favorite body and the cobra is a beast.
Sn 97 Mustang are just beautiful & retro-looking muscle cars. Wasn't impressed with 2015+ mustangs , nothing like a 2005-2014 in my opinion.

Oof that intro video looks VERY 2005
If you actually stand back and look at the design of the 1994 mustang sn95, it truly is a work of art, nice body lines, curves, etc. Even motor trend loved the 1994. It was just wrong timing being so different then the fox body. I also liked the 2003-2004 cobras, such nice cars. The 1999-2004 Ford Lightning were so nice as well, clean trucks. The stuff ford put out following those awesome cobras and Lightnings just didn’t do it for me. You could hand me the keys to a 2005 mustang and I would sell it, just looks cheap to me. 2013-2014 mustang are the best of that generation mustang. Very nice in 13/14.
