changes a Verb into a Noun
Verb stem+는 것
when the verb stem has batchim ㄹ : ㄹ drop
literary style ㅡ colloquial style
것 ㅡ 거
것은 ㅡ 거는 ㅡshort formㅡ 건
것이 ㅡ 거가 ㅡshort formㅡ 게
것을 ㅡ 거를 ㅡshort formㅡ 걸

Why are they different particles for each verb?

once we changed verb into a Noun, we can use that Verb in the same way as Noun.
는 것 + 은 topic marker
(N)'드라마'는 재미있어요
(V)'드라마 보는 것'은 재미있어요
는 것 + 이 subject marker
(N)'공부'가 어려워요
(V)'공부하는 것'이 어려워요
는 것 + 을 object marker
(N)'커피'를 좋아해요
(V)'커피 마시는 것'을 좋아해요
