    I just found your channel and all your lectures that I’ve watched are super helpful.       Because it is actually a defining word or an adjective or even a relative clause. 것 means "thing" and 는 defines it, like "the thing that...". For example 노래하는 것: the singing thing". That's how I understand it and I hope it helps!!

      Yes, -거 is a simple form of -것. For example, 이것, 저것, 그것 can be said 이거, 저거, 그거, respectively.

      Remember that Korean verbs come at the end of the sentence. To "move them" into the middle of a sentence, they must be conjugated first. We conjugate them into nouns using either 기 or 는것. He teaches at a university. This is the beginning of a third class so his students have already had 6-8 semester hours of Korean before they begin to study this. This is about my level but it took many hours of study to understand. Good luck in your studies!
