    Just found this content and subscribed. Funny part is I opted for an Henry AR-7 and a standard Buckmark for my 72 hour pack before watching your videos. The AR-7 was a recent purchase but I've had my buckmark for years. I can carry both with 100 rounds of CCI stingers and a full 72 hour load out including water purification, shelter, food rations, and other essentials including a solar cell charger and my pack weighs in at 18 pounds. I opted for 22LR due to its light weight, the ability to take game, and provide defense if needed. I know many who are trying to lug around their 9mm pistols and their AR-15 compact rifles which gives amazing firepower but you got to hump all that in some potentially rugged and adverse conditions. Many underestimate the little 22 but it will get the job done.

      But the take-down/disassembly, grip angle, and trigger on the Ruger Mk series really turn me off. When I clean the Ruger Mk 3, I have to use a small pick to get around the edges inside the upper.
      The accuracy is about the same (if you go Tactical Solution barrels on both Browning and Ruger).

      Owned a buckmark for 5 years. Generally liked the reliability and accuracy. I did not like the build. Especially the barrel mounting screw always been - IMHO kind of weak. I still have it but, my main 22 auto is now a Ruger MK 4 competition model. It is sweet.

    I picked up a Ruger Charger and it is compact and light, and came with a 15 round mag. It also takes the Ruger 10rd rotary mags from the 10/22. I used a 3-9x32 rifle scope on it that I had laying around as recoil is very light. It has a threaded muzzle for a suppressor and a 10" barrel that will increase velocity. The Buckmark is a nice pistol too.

      The one you have is probably head and shoulders above anything being produced now. I have a 22 colt woodsman, that’s older than I am which is 53, and it shoots better than any of my newer 22’s. Be it my Browning buckmark, Ruger 22/45, or S&W victory. And it has a pencil barrel where all the newer ones are bull barrels.

      Like the S&W Liberty you need a tool for breakdown......old technology.....I'll take the Ruger Mk 4 all day long, push a button and the pistol is apart, run a snake and wipe down the bolt and your back in business.....heck even the Mk 1 , 2, and 3 can be taken down without a tool......

      Probably because you are putting your name on a list by buying a suppressor. Also, suppressors don’t really make a firearm quieter. They hide the flash and suppress the “boom” sound. They do not hide the crack of a supersonic bullet. In a survival situation, it’s more important to use only one shot for the task at hand than to have a suppressor. When people nearby hear one round go off, they start to pay attention. It’s the second or third round that allow them to pinpoint your location.

    • @Tomken8d2
      @Tomken8d2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justinprobst8635 .22 can be silenced. I know from experience.yeah a buddy of mine did it once...yeah that's what happened. I'd never make a suppressor... In a SHTF situation you don't want ANY report, just the the clicking sounds of the action. No way to hush that.

    I pretty much only run cheap ammo through my buckmark and I get 1 FTE and a stove pipe probably every 30 rounds. I have to clear the FTE with a knife every time. It’s very accurate, light and fun to shoot but is Picky with ammo. I’ve never ran mini mags or other good 22lr through it so I’ve always assumed the problems are related to me and my love for cheap 22lr ammo. Just a heads up for those interested in the pistol. It doesn’t run everything flawlessly like you hear in a lot of the reviews. But it is worth the buy and it’s how I finish each day at the range shooting.

    The smith and wesson SW22 is starting to turn a lot of heads. I have a ruger, and a browning .22 pistol, but the SW 22 Victory by S&W is getting most of my range time lately. Extremely modular, easy to customize, easy to clean. Haven't found a problem yet... just something else to look at. The Browning is obviously a good choice too, but the competition is catching up. Ruger is now 'borrowing' ideas from the S&W to keep up.

    Buckmarks are nice guns. I've got one that I like a lot. It's just like yours, but without the optics rail. If you're interested in a lightweight version, and you like premium guns, Tactical Solutions just announced that they're putting their own version of the Buckmark into production. They also make their ultralight aluminum (steel lined) barrels and grips for the regular Browning version as well of course.

    I agree with your conclusion on choosing something like the Browning .22 Pistol or a Ruger MK-IV over a 22lr Rifle, but you didn't even make an argument or rational how you came to that conclusion lmao. A 22lr is essential in my POV because I can carry 500rounds in my pocket ffs, how can you beat that? So if it comes to rushing out the door with what I can carry a 22 rifle doesn't make sense when I can have a .223 over my shoulder in its place and a 22lr Pistol at my side. For survival its going to come down to what you can carry and I don't have much faith in hoarding because hoarders will be doing a lot of defending. Infact I place little to no faith in Survival Situation vs the Government because they will merely choke us out of food supply and those psychopaths wouldn't care if it meant poisoning the oceans and destroying all wildlife to achieve it. If you think the Government won't go Biological Warfare to make you obey then you're missing the big picture

  • @ryanmenzie7120
    @ryanmenzie7120 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like a 10 round .22 revolver. That way you don't have to worry about magazines and better reliability. Just slower reloads but I can live with that. If craps hitting the fan I'm going to be carrying either a .22 rifle anyway or a .357 lever action.

  • @davidsomerset8411
    @davidsomerset8411 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Buckmark is a fantastic pistol. BUT I believe a (not so good) choice for survival. Cleaning it is a chore, you dont need more to do in a survival situation. The short barrel is a lot less powerful than a full size rifle barrel of 16 to 20+ inches. My thoughts lean towards a Smith & Wesson 648 SS revolver. It's 22 WMR, a fantastically good trigger, good adjustable sights, and ballistically about the same as a full sized 22LR rifle shooting full power 40 grain CCI velocitors (about 14 -15 hundred fps muzzle velocity), maybe a tad more, all in a much smaller to carry package and easier to clean.

    Most accurate, reliable and rugged makes me think Ruger GP100. Also, you can shoot whatever ammo you want. Love using CBs or shot for rats/mice but semis won't cycle them.

      My friend in El Paso has one. Its frame broke just in front of the trigger guard. I kept saying that it sounded very unusually loud. Well, of course S&W replaced it for free. Good company! The sad thing was the new one was German made and super tight and very ammo picky.

    S.w 422 6 in. Barrel with cci hits 5 gal. Can at 100 yards 8 of 10.
    But not enough energy to take down a coyote.
    Ammo listed at1250 fps from a 6 in. Is more like 900 fps.

    I like the idea of a pistol instead of a rifle for survival. I would recommend a PMR 30 over the buck mark. More power, much lighter and holds 3 times the rounds per magazine.

    Sir, I assume this is more of a paid advertisement, but you mentioned it was the best pistol you ever shot.
    I went to buy a Colt Woodsmen in the early '70s and the gun store owner brought over a used pistol not a lot cheaper than the new Colt Woodsmen and ask if I would consider a used pistol. He handed me a Browning Challenger. After handling and considering both I walked out with the Challenger. I have never been sorry.
    I wanted a pistol for when sitting in the woods squirrel hunting and one came down a tree close to me I could shoot it in the head. I have no idea how many squirrels I have shot with it. 45 years later and it still shooting great and I'm sure weighs a lot less than one with a bull barrel .

    My only problem with this pistol was the fragility of the FO front sight.
    After it broke I realized how easy it could happen and went to the steel sight.

  • @Sargonarhes
    @Sargonarhes 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My S&W 22A has all those same features and performance, at a lower price as well. And unless Henry makes the AR-7 of better quality than Charter Arms did I'd stay away from the AR-7 and go with a 10/22 take down, the 10/22 will last longer. I know from experience, I've owned an AR-7 and after 20 years it's barely usable. I still have it and it's 30 years old but didn't hold up as well as my 20 year old 10/22. The 10/22 is a far better .22lr rifle than the AR-7.

    The Camper UFX is the best deal in 22 pistols. I think the Ruger probably outsells the Browning 4:1 because they are generally cheaper but the Browning is a better gun.

    • @MrPir84free
      @MrPir84free 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest mistakes that Browning makes: It's not in the stores with the general availability that the Ruger has.. However, the BIGGEST error is that very few Buckmarks come, out of the box, with a threaded barrel. Oh, yeah, you can change out the barrel; but if you pay $500 for a Buckmark, buying an expensive threaded barrel to replace the existing barrel is not something most aficionados want to do with a $500 gun. The Camper UFX is a good value for the money, but it screams cheap; upgrading it to be a nice .22 target pistol costs too much to make it worth it. Again, this is what's wrong with Buckmarks line.. As far as I know, I've only ever seen one Buckmark coming with a threaded barrel; and it's never seen in any store that I've visited.. The cheaper buckmarks may be there. The more expensive buckmarks may be there; but never any with a threaded barrel...

    But how does it shoot compared to the victory. How about using some good ammo and a true 25 yard and or 50 yard target shoot for groups. I doubt it is as accurate as the victory. Put that scope to use for real accuracy results.
