    Hi pals - drop your questions below for what I didn’t cover in this video and watch this next for whether paper or Notion … or both is the way for you: th-cam.com/video/HO4kbvzP_UM/w-d-xo.html

    Awesome video - thanks Simon. Going to give Notion a go, seems like there's a lot to wrap my head around. Your channel looks like a great place to start

    I love the idea of Notion and it’s brethren but then I open them up and realize they aren’t just “plug and play” and that there is a steep learning curve to actually being able to use them productively. If I have to spend hours going through a course then days, weeks, months making sense of it all and getting proficient enough with it that it actually feels like it’s helping it seems like a daunting task to undertake. That said, I am also open to the fact that I might be totally wrong and that it’s an opinion I’ve formed based on zero experience with said programs. I also get a sense(again, perhaps wrongly so) that these programs seem designed more toward the analytical person/thinker rather than the creative who thinks and processes things more with visuals and ideas.

      Hi Dan - totally get you on this perspective: I would say thou: whilst yea, there was some onboarding time for me (if I had found the right template to start from - that would have been shorter) - once I had the basics Notion was fantastic to build out a bespoke system that supports my work, and as a result - worked better for me as a creative person. I’m a theatre director half the time, and run this channel the rest: so it’s a preset creative / visual world and use Notion as my main hub. I find that combining it in the right way with GoodNotes, a sketch book and a couple of other integrations: it’s great for keeping me on track. So many ways to use it. But yeah - you have to give it a good chance and learn for a bit in the first month! Not for everyone ! Thanks for the great perspective. :)

    My Notion system quickly got overly complicated. I started adding things just because I could. I like the idea of building systems and keeping notes all in one place. Sometimes it made more sense to use Apple Notes instead of Notion. But it was a fun learning experience for a bit.
    I recently started from scratch with Notion. Only have a few pages so far (such as your Habit Tracker 😉). Your videos always inspire me to try different things with my setup.

      Nice - I’m feeling this too at moment: with the new updates and the API: I’m seriously thinking at seeing how much simpler I can make my Notion workspace. Thanks for watching and great to have you here! :)

    I am a new user and had to download your template to make Notion make sense. It’s been great to use along side my paper planner, and my GoodNotes planner. Thank you for your videos and comprehensive explanations.

      Thanks pal - that’s great to read. I’m working with a fab new editor and she make the animations using after effects and edits in Premier pro I believe. Thanks a lot!

    I know this is going to sound silly, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching you play with your kitten. It made my AWWWHHNH! meter go off. I am a HUGE Notion fan by the way. I have test-Lab pages in Notion; where I build and try out various techniques from different Notioneers. I keep what functions well, and ditch what doesn't. My focus is Ministry, writing and teaching. Thanks. Shalom.

    I use notion for my second brain as well and it's been such an incredible resource as I do research projects and work. I've been trying to get friends and family to do the same thing and I always recommend your channel for learning how to use notion. This video is perfect for sharing with them! 👏🏼

      Ah great to hear Nora, thanks. :) Yeah, it’s a great platform once you get past the initial onboarding and understanding the basics. The new updates are helping simplify and make it more accessible too. Happy sharing! 👍☺️

    Another great video Simon, thank you. I’m just playing around with Notion at the moment having been an Evernote user for years. Just curious to know if you use Notion for storing documents too eg business receipts, contracts etc.? Evernote and Apple notes feels a bit more user friendly and with better search, how do you manage that side of things?

    I use CODE framework differently. Since I’m computer scientist Express in CODE become Experiment because I cannot express something without actually testing it on various different scenarios. Only after that I can express the findings I have.

    will you be releasing simplified notion 2.0?

  • @DannyHatcherTech
    @DannyHatcherTech 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting, I would have said the second brain concept is routed from Alan Clark and David Chalmers 1998 paper, not David Allen's book 🤷‍♂
    Use the tool that works for you, I like it Obsidian

    I find that when I do capture that whatever I capute into it becomes a graveyard of links and things I never go back to. Or even I just do the same research again when I need the info as I never remember that I have it saved. So many things in Web Design and Gaming the two areas I work with.

    I'm interested in your prompted questions for journaling but not sure I want to use Notion. Do you have a purchase option to buy the templates in something like a text/Word file?

    • @BetterCreating
      @BetterCreating  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the idea - I don’t currently I’m afraid: but to be fair: maybe just as easy to download the template and copy and paste from it if you want the content elsewhere. I do have plans for some journal and planner PDFs for iPad in the future. Cheers.

    How can you truly embrace Notion if it doesn't fully work offline? I travel so not having access to wifi is always a big chance that I have to accept. Not being able to access information I need in Notion can be extremely frustrating when I really need it. How to reconcile this?
