It was the Mogul's Empire seat of power in the city of Agra and was amazing. It wasn't as meticulously maintained as the Taj Mahal, but had way more history in the walls!
Many of the old walls and chambers of red fort were destroyed in the First Indian Revolt of 1857 so a lot of the good part of that palace is just lost now.

the hangeul script created by king sejong is really interesting because it is one of the most recently-created writing systems (developed in the 15th century) and it was specifically developed to be easy to learn. prior to the invention of hangeul, most people could not read/write because the korean language was written with hanja/chinese characters and only wealthy people could afford the education needed to learn it. so king sejong made an easy script (hangeul has an alphabet with consonants and vowels rather than logograms) to increase the literacy of the common people. in more recent years, some cultures with unwritten languages tried to adopt hangeul for their languages, as well, although i don't think any of those projects were successful. anyway, all of this is to say the joseon dynasty and sejong specifically were really important!

You mentioned the ways in which the Mongols may have paved the way for the European Renaissance, but neglected to mention the same for the Ottomans. By conquering Constantinople, many of the greatest minds from the Roman Empire were forced to flee further west into Europe, bringing historical documents and greater education with them. This has been attributed as one of the factors that went in to triggering the Renaissance.

I'm actually surprised that you didn't include the house of Timur-Baber in the house of Borjigin as Timer is a direct descendant of Gheghis Khan. (Opps commented too soon)
Timur was not a direct descendant of Chinggis Khan. He was descended from an ancestor of Chinggis (it was like his great-great-grandfather or something like that). Babur though was descended from the Borjigin AFAIK.
It’s complicated. While Timur isn’t descended from Genghis Khan, Babur is due to Timur marrying a descendent of the Genghis on the Chagatid line. So... I’m not sure what you’d consider him.

I wonder how the House of Osman might rank if included in the Europe list. 1 crown things lowers their rank but they got the influence and longevity (not only as a house but also as reign) to rank pretty high I think. Also shouldn't the Crimean Khans under the House of Giray be considered a part of the Borjigin dynasty?
I have a question: is there a specific reason why you cut off the map so sharply on each side? Specifically the House Yamato seems to include more territory on almost all sides than what has been shown. Could you comment on the extent of this house?
Reading through all the comments, I think some few of the viewers misinterpreted this video as all-in-one-go sums up of every, single greatest ruling dynasties that ruled over the Asian continent, and were ultimately disappointed that their preferred dynasty did not make it onto the list. Remember, the list is clearly subjective, and made for edutainment purposes; not an academically-accurate selection by historians. With peak territorial size, ruling timespan, as well as influence on surrounding areas or, on a larger scale, multi-continental areas taken into accounts. Also the fact that, the Asian continent is such large area that it's basically impossible to include every one of them, in a 17 minutes video without it being a 1-2 hours length video. Not to even mention, the countless hour that would be spent on such large undertaking video project.
Great review, awesome maps. And I couldn't agree more on your top 3 picks, and how close they are on the list. One thing worth mentioning about Timurides is that they are not considered descendants of Borjigin. It was due to this fact, that Tamerlane could not be called a "khan" but only an "emir". He took a wife from the Ghengisides and was named Temur hurgen, which meant son-in-law (to Ghengisides). Temur was one of the most powerful men in mankind history, some say even matched to the most successful of the Ghengisid khans, but he was never entitled to be a "khan". Thats how strong the Ghengis's will was, even after he was long gone.

Some historians say that Li family is mixed between Xianbei and Han Chinese. But by the time Li family became the ruling class of Tang dynasty, They had already lost their Xianbei heritage and completely sinicised. So i'd call them just Han Chinese dynasty.
stormfront always calls tang dynasty a 'foreign dynasty'. i laugh everytime. just because the founder married a turkic woman doesn't mean the line is foreign. besides, the founder and his sons were well into han culture already, and there is a source that says xianbei people were half han already. the royal house being part turkic is a minor detail.
@@sinoroman It doesn't matter much for modern Chinese chauvinists because they can claim England has been the part of China. In real history, Xianbei and Wu Hu raped and destroyed Northern China as much as Qing dynasty did during the transition period. Many great Han people died and were forcefully displaced by nomadic tribes. Han women were raped, so it's highly improbable that there is such thing as pure Han existed after the nomadic conquests. House of Li was under the rule and tutelage of Xianbei for many decades, so it's highly improbable that they are even pure Han anymore. It is also a tradition for any Chinese dynasty to rewrite history to fit their narrative. Again, Chinese historians generally accept that House of Li is Xianbei, and they don't care much. House of Li is as much foreign as House of Aisin Gioro, and many modern Chinese leaders are Manchurian anyway. Yeah, there is nothing really bad from this fact.

The pagoda style itself was founded within the dynasty's borders long before it existed and has spread all the way to Japan, China, etc. (Please correct me if anything in wrong, my sources are a kind of suspicious textbook)
If the house of Yamato ruled from 509 AD up until today, shouldn't the total reigning time be 1511+ years now instead of 1481+? I mean, it's still "more than 1481" so in a way it's not wrong but still weird and you'd expect the '+' to signify that it's still not over yet and could go on for even longer.
It seems that 1481 is the number of years up to the end of Hirohito's reign as he died in 1989 without abdicating. A strange decision to do that but at least it makes sense if he didn't calculate it and simply took the number that was on an outdated source that didn't include Akihito's rule.

Fascinating. One thing I noticed is that Taiwan really was independent of the mainland in all these charts... other than being under the Japanese Empire for several decades of course. I really appreciated learning about Thailand. Explains a lot why it's so unique culturally compared to its neighbours. There was no strong Sino-influence there.
As a Chinese, I can tell you that records about Taiwan first appeared in the 2nd century AD, but because the mainland was not fully developed, they ignored this place until the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century AD officially appointed officials to develop Taiwan, after which the Qing Dynasty took over. Taiwan was ceded to Japan in 1894 as a result of the Qing Dynasty's defeat at the hands of Japan, and was later taken back by Nationalist China (Republic of China) after World War II. Between 1947 and 1949, the Kuomintang was defeated by the Chinese Civil War and retreated to Taiwan, while the victorious Communist Party of China established the People's Republic of China. In the constitutions of both the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China, Taiwan is only a part of China and has never been mentioned as a separate country. 😅
Taiwan only started to have Chinese show up after the Spanish and Dutch colonized parts of it and brought in Chinese laborers. The native people of Taiwan are Austronesians who fought both the Europeans and the Chinese. There was no recorded country there because Chinese record-keepers did not know much about the island and the native Austronesians were not united and existed in multiple different tribes. Chinese in Taiwan are settlers like Europeans in America

I totally agree with Indian Agenda. Western still believe that Mughals Made the India. They still need to learn how a small rebel groups from mountains, brought down 400 years of Mughals Reign. Maratha Empire at some point of time owned 900 forts across India.

The marathas even practically controlled Delhi though it was kept as Mughal region symbolically.

Although you are looking at Aisa, your framework is indeed very Eurocentric, concepts such as 'Houses' and 'Medieval' are pure European concept that should not be the major focus when studying Asia's history, especially East Asia.
how are houses a solely european concept? Hereditary dynasties exist all throughout asia and the rest of the world's history. They way not be called houses, but they are the same idea.
houses and medieval totally apply when they existed at the same time period. they're contemporaries to make sense for a western audience.
The criteria that he used for Thai dynasty is that "they were never colonized by europe" I mean man you really wasted a position when you could have better alternatives like Sassanids Or Seljuqs who had much larger influence.
Chola dynasty from Tamil Nadu(South India)is one of the powerful dynasties in the ancient world. During the period 1010-1153, the Chola territories stretched from the islands of the Maldives in the south to as far north as the banks of the Godavari River in A.P. Rajaraja Chola conquered peninsular South India annexed parts of Sri lanka and occupied the islands of the Maldives. the hangeul script created by king sejong is really interesting because it is one of the most recently-created writing systems (developed in the 15th century) and it was specifically developed to be easy to learn. prior to the invention of hangeul, most people could not read/write because the korean language was written with hanja/chinese characters and only wealthy people could afford the education needed to learn it. so king sejong made an easy script (hangeul has an alphabet with consonants and vowels rather than logograms) to increase the literacy of the common people. in more recent years, some cultures with unwritten languages tried to adopt hangeul for their languages, as well, although i don't think any of those projects were successful. anyway, all of this is to say the joseon dynasty and sejong specifically were really important!

The sue china had invaded goguryeo with over million men, not even once. They have repeated several times and this continues up to tang dyansty. But the fun thing is the goguryeo, a country that was over northern korean peninsula and machuria, managed to defeat them most of the time. This was really a incredible act, as no nation really had power to enlist THAT amount of army until WW1, not even mongolians did like that. and the invasion of sue dynasty on goguryeo was still a failure.
The war between sue and goguryeo was recorded as a biggest war in world history until WW1, and this shows how strong these two nation (sue/tang and goguryeo) was.

By conquering Constantinople, many of the greatest minds from the Roman Empire were forced to flee further west into Europe, bringing historical documents and greater education with them.

This list is a poorly studied biased shit. Nothing to do with reality

李 is 이 in south Korean while it's 리 anywhere else (north korea, yanbian area in China, Zainichi in Japan,...)
Same shift that :
래일 - > 내일
녀자 - > 여자
리용 - > 이용
...
My personal favourite is the Seljuks which I think should have been included in this list
First of all, very nice worık... Thank you. I just found your channel and I'm very happy about it.
About the video:
Osman's other name is known to be "Ataman" which means "Leader" and is also the base of the name Ottoman - Ataman
For us Turks; Timur and Genkhis (Cengiz=Warrior) Khan (Han=Leader) are also ancestors. Or lets just say, we believe we are all members of a Great Tri-national Turkic Family. Which is why you can still find their names given to our children. This is also valid for Attila too...
We are not Not Brothers it’s just Turkic Nationalists Excellent propaganda we have no Blood connections
@@meggofextension7472 and under what name are you writing this? I mean who is "we" in your comment??
Fun fact: nowadays historians think the Li family from Tang Dynasty is not of Chinese (Han) descendants but rather a mixture of different races.
@@화이팅-t2q you are correct

I know the historical nuances but I felt it’s contradictory to say Thailand was never colonized or conquered, but include Thailand in empire of japan
Interesting that nor Sriwijaya or Majapahit was included in the list..
I really recommend looking into these two empires in particular because both have huge influence particularly around the southern part of Asia
Loved the video, but I would also include the Shah Dynasty which ruled Grokha from 1559-1768 Gorkha and Nepal 1768-2008 , meaning it ruled for 449 years, also it controlled much of the northern Indian Sub-Continent At It's Peak, from Garwhal To Sikkim and parts of East Bengal And Southern Tibet To Northern Patna and Parts Of UP at it's peak, the kingdom is mainly known for the pagoda style architecture which was founded in the locality.
A strange decision to do that but at least it makes sense if he didn't calculate it and simply took the number that was on an outdated source that didn't include Akihito's rule.
may i recommend you to make a detailed search on the "ashina" dynasty.
I think you didn't read history before AD. You forget Asoka the great "Maurya Empire who controlled 5 million km² with highly density population with 50% population of Asia of Indian subcontinent with most prosperous dynasty in history of world. His kingdom had 80% economy of world in 3rd century BC mainly cause of millions ton of Gold in each temple, Diamonds, precious stones and fertile land of indus-gangatic plane. He is the one who spread Buddhism in Asia and believe to everyone prosperous in his Nation.

@@Lihua666 The island was annexed in 1683 by the Qing dynasty of China and ceded

if you say "all time" how about Sriwijaya and Majapahit, is that include for the criteria?
if no, then will you create the kingdom from Indonesia or Hindia Belanda era
thank's before
At first I thought it would be under ancient category but then Tamg Dynasty is older than Majapahit. I guess it lack impact on the global stage, though the same could be said of the Chakri dynasty. Maybe its because outside of SEA, not many really know about it.
@@13gan Srivijaya and Majapahit was actually very influental during their era, Srivijaya was known as the center of Buddhism learning in SEA, have strong Navy so they have power controlling the spice trade around Malacca and South China Sea for then crushed by the Chola dynasty
It also applied to Majapahit which they control area from the Kra Ithmus in south thailand to the south philippines, they control much of trade in Malaya archipelago thus have cultural and tradition influence over the region you can search about the remnants influence of the Majapahit in the SEA
But, speaking of house line, I just remember the dynasty of Srivijaya are called house of Syailendra it can be traced from 7th to 11th century, as for Majapahit the ruling family, known as house of Rajasa, ruled from late 13th to early 16th but their line can be trace as early as late 12th century
Cmiiw btw, I just barely know this since I still learn the history of my country
@@13gan they should be know some of Malay/Indonesian kingdom have influence as I see the Majapahit flag on the thumbnail, but yeah it just their list tho
I agree majapahit and one more Indian vijaynagara deserved list.
And what would you place the Xiongnu Dynasty and the Gokturk Khaganate in the list?
This maybe getting to specifics but it would be very interesting to see regional Houses being listed, like the dynasties and smaller houses within the region of China or India. Would be very cool to see which houses held power or other who kept their lineage continuing for centuries and even millennias.
