Good thing they did not include the 8k feature and focused on what people really wanted from this camera, after all it has been a long wait. It is nice to see that Sony is still going strong.
If you were going to film mostly action shots (throwing freebees and walking around free hand) you should have shot at a mode that has more stops of image stabilization. From what I have read, lower resolutions have more stops of image stabilization.
great video Kai , i think this will be the best all around workflow camera and the most reliable and a big is the hotshoe mic mounting with no cables and ability to run 2 different mics to separate audio in post
I'm wondering if distance shots of Kai ( of him in frame holding the A7SIII handheld in vlogging/selfie position ) are *also* being recorded on an A7SIII *or* being recorded on a Panasonic s1h or GH5 perhaps ? A7SIII = zippy fast phase-detection AF, a few nice shiny specs, a streamlined compact body design, but is that really worth thirty-six hundred bucks = *more than double the cost of a GH5* with most the same bells n whistles + FULL SIZED HDMI Port etc. I personally would go for the GH5 first, +better glass options (lens).
is output from A7S 10bit far different from A7iii 4K quality or is it possible to match both cameras in one project? of course s3 give more options in low-light, HDR situations and in colorgrading postproduction

The A7s is my go to for astrophotography. Stills and timelapses.
"Just works"? I suppose that's fine if you're a pro with money on the line. But what about the enthusiast market that just want to drone on about specs? 😅
right!! like in a car, you can scream all you want about superior "specs" as a competitor goes flying by you.
Nicely done Kai! Good comprehensive review!
Image stabilization is not impressive
Hey dude! Checking in from Mongolia... do you think we should wait for Black Friday deals on the A7iii or just go ahead and pinch it off the shelf now?
Now bring that menu to the A73
Hopefully and a firmware update to remove the recording limit too
and maby A7R2
@Daniel.Henz
Canon rep Micheal B said it's not on the current roadmap...implied not to expect it soon or ever in today's 2nd B&H Sony A7R3 Q&A video.
Awesome! Great Review! Kai Is Back :p
18:33 In Australia here, there's still only 60 minutes in an hour. It sucks!
Yea i was wondering xD 1:49:18 on the timer and he says 109 minutes but corrected it to 149 minutes? xD
Hi Kai, any chance of doing a review of the Leica S Typ 007. Less than 5 hands on reviews on You Tube & Google combined. Do you think it is still worth buying or is it redundant?
To the 1% of you who will probably see this
You are awesome ❤
When I record in 1080p on my a7siii, the resolution comes out as 1920 x 1072. Do you know how to fix this?
Who's just waiting for Sony A7IV patiently with 2000$ in their wallet ? 🙇🏻♂️🤞🏼
I know right!?
I have been waiting since ages! 🤣🔥
You can have custom settings for video and for photos. You have to turn it on.
The way the economy is going (looking at central London), it might be better to save the £3,500 and you might buy a few loaves of bread in 2021..
Love your reviews always!
Sony waited for canon to show their best just to s*it on them with this... ruff
please, hold your breath.
one trick pony.
Kai, you are always the best to watch for a good review and a good laugh !
I currently have a Sony a6300 and I’m looking for the best Sony camera with a nice combo of quality photo/video. Would you recommend this camera? I’m more on the photography side... Thanks
I'm dreaming about this cam for my travel vlogs 😍
Best mirrorless of 2020 is a category that’s really heating up
Hello Kai - wondering which camera, lens and mic you used for your 'studio' section of this video, basically your head and should shot? Thanks!
Hey @Kai W great video as always...but at 6:54 you lost the audio ..or was it purposely done 😁
great video Kai , i think this will be the best all around workflow camera and the most reliable and a big is the hotshoe mic mounting with no cables and ability to run 2 different mics to separate audio in post
I personally would go for the GH5 first, +better glass options (lens).
is output from A7S 10bit far different from A7iii 4K quality or is it
possible to match both cameras in one project? of course s3 give more
options in low-light, HDR situations and in colorgrading postproduction
Was that nujabes music at 16:34 ?
Can't wait for my R5
A camera that just works.
Well there’s nothing to add now.
(Great great video and colors by the way).
either upgrading my gh5 with metabones speed booster + sigma 18-35 1.8 OR selling my gh5 with leica 12-60 to get this. Thoughts?
Dear sir kai w, are you using the 16-35 f4 for the vlog style test video ?
Great video Kai, and always nice to see our renowned dry British humour on full display! Have you been using the camera much since this initial first reaction?
I was sheet rocking my attic today and it was the first time ever my a7sii over heated on me recording 4k @ 30fps after about a hour and 15 minutes. I couldnt even record on 1080p for about 20 minutes. It was 86F outside I'd imagine it was a little hotter inside my attic. Made want to upgrade to the mark 3
Hey there how would you judge the R5 /R6 AF performance (very fast subjects like wildlife) vs say Sonys A7RIV and A9ii (speed demon) ?? Wonder if you've had any time behind these bodies and are you willing to risk answering ? :)
Is this camera primarily for Vlogging ? because I was wondering why you would drop in photographing Stills from 41megapixels in the A7R iii to just 12 megapixels in the A7S iii for twice the price.
I love everything about the a7Siii except for the new menu system. I started with a7iii loved it and learned it, then I went a7Riv and again loved it to death! I did not have to learn the system but with a7Siii I never know where anything is in the menu
this new touch menu is great much easier to learn & navigate, someone new to Sony will definitely appreciate it, but I agree current Sony users are used to older menus & it's annoying having to relearn things with this new menu
thank you so much for doing more tests than usually!
This dude got the best reviews ong😂
Hey man...just saying... I love your reviews.
Im excited to give this a try!
